Do you have a wheat cent and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.
It has been nearly two months since I found an older American coin in my change, by older I mean older then 1959. Today when putting away my change I found a 1956-D cent which I have no idea where I got it since I spent the whole day shopping.
It's true that this coin is not particularly valuable or rare but it is a wheatie and over 50 years old. Only the third 1956D cent I found and seeing how so many people are searching bank rolls it may be one of the last.
Here are the stats for this penny...
Type/Country: 1 Cent/United States
Year: 1956D
Mintages: 1,098,201,100
Metal: 95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc
Value: $0.10 in VF-20

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 257 Newer› Newest»I got a coin back in change which I believed to be a penny. When I got it home I saw that it had the United States Treasury symbol of the front and the other side said uncirculated philadelphia. I'm not sure what it is, and it has no apparent value on the coin. I have look for it on the internet and I can't even find a picture of it. Do you have any idea what this could possibly be?
~Jen
This is a medal that is included with Mint Uncirculated Sets. It has been in certain sets since the late 70s.
Here's the best pic I can find LINK
These medals are used whenever a coin is discontinued leaving an empty space in the mint set so the drop in this piece. When collector open the sets they put these in circulation because most are worth $0.10-$0.25.
lucky you! I found mine in the city of Kathmandu. In one of the corner shop at Kathmandu palace square.
do you scan your images or use a camera? Just wondering!
I'd gladly go to Nepal to search for coins.
Most of my coin images are taken with a scanner at 450 dpi.
My scanner can go up to 6400 dpi which I can use to get some great detail.
My camera skills are low and I don't have a macro lens so I take only a few shots with the camera.
you can get good deals in Kathmandu, provided you know what you are looking for and you know what is authentic and not!
I received a 1956 $10 bill from an ATM, that caused quite a commotion in the store. The clerk thought that it was countefit, but after an officer from the local fraud unit took a look at it, he said "it's just old." My question-is it worth more than $10? -Meredith
1956 $10 bill
That year doesn't exist. If it is American it has to be 1950 or 1950A. I would also need the serial number but they have at least a value of $12.00.
Great blog...I don't have a penny question, but I have a $50 bill, 1950 E series. Seems circulated to me, an old relative who died had it hidden away and we found it in her things. The odd thing is, the engraved part seems off center. In other words, the plain border is almost non-existent on the left side, but is over-exaggerated on the right side. Is this unusual? Thanks, MG
$50 bill, 1950 E series. Seems circulated
The off-center is a cutting an error and is not that unusual and won't add any extra value.
It is about $100.00 in that condition depending on the serial number it may be worth more.
The 1950E is the last of 1950 series and some of the bills are worth thousands.
Hi,
Someone I know might have recently found a 1944 steel penny by pure luck. If it does turn out to be the real deal, how much would something like that be worth?
1944 steel penny
There have been several found and they average $10,000 I suspect a new find might bring in double the price.
More likely it is a silver cent where a 1944 silver dime was accidentally used instead of a copper blank. These average $1,700.00.
Re steel penny
He's taken it to a few dealers to have it looked at. One said it was a clever forgery, while the others said it looked real. So far the only test that has been done is to see if it sticks to magnets (it does), and he's already gotten a $10,000 offer, but is holding off for now to see if he can get a better price. Your price estimate is good news. Thanks for the help.
The other way to check is to weigh it.
It should weigh 2.70 grams give or take 0.1 grams.
I've seen forgeries and the weight is right and the metal is right but when checked under a microscope it was a 1943 that had the last number altered.
Fakes are common. Fred Weinberg is the best error dealer and you may want to contact him on what to do next.
Thank you for your response. The $10 bill is actually a 1950 series C (per my teen who has younger eyes than I do!). If the serial # is at the upper right hand corner, it is I46116532A. Do you have an idea of it's value? Again, this is the ATM bill that I received. Thank you. -Meredith

About $21.00. It is not rare but only 9,000,000 were printed which is mid to low level range.
If it is really rough and circulated then it is worth less then listed. Still a nice find.
I have a golden dime. Is it worth anything?
~Jen
No it has been plated outside the mint.
I have found several gold pennies and although nice looking they cannot be sold for any extra money.

is it okay to use tarnex to clean tarished pennies
No.
Never use anything to clean valuable coins. For non-valuable coins try soaking them in virgin olive oil for about six months then dip them in acetone to remove the oil. It's long and slow but preserves the coin.
My husband Wheat Penny with the letter "L" missing from the word Liberty. We have not been able to find any info on this error.
Wheat Penny with the letter "L" missing from the word Liberty
This is either a Struck Through Grease error which means some gunk got in the when the coin was being struck.
Or a weak strike means the die used to press the coin was too old.
Either one does not bring any extra value, the second is not a real error. This is very common on all coins, especially pennies.

I also have a 1961-D and a 1960-D silver penny. Along with that I have a 1953 silver penny. Any ideas?
Lastly, I have 1921 Silver dollar. Thank you. What a great service you are providing to those who have no idea what they are holding onto.
1955 penny that my grandfather way back when decided to protect.
A normal 1955 cent is worth about $0.10 in very-fine.
There is a famous variety that has the date doubled it is an error worth about $1,200.00.
1961-D and a 1960-D silver penny. Along with that I have a 1953 silver penny.
These are either errors or some sort of after mint junk.
They need to be weighed. If they are about 3.11 grams they are fake worth nothing. Any other weight would have to be researched to assess value.
1921 Silver dollar
If it's a Morgan Dollar it's about $18.00.
If it's a Peace Dollar it's about $125.00. The peace dollar has the word PEACE on the reverse.

hi there i have a 1956 candian penny. i think its made of silver or steel...on the back right lower corner has the letters KG..Thanks for your help.....
1956 candian penny. i think its made of silver or steel.
To find out if it's an error just weigh it. A copper cent should weigh 3.24 grams so if it's the same then it's fake.
I found a 1965 wheat. Do you know its worth?
1965 wheat. Do you know its worth?
No such thing.
Funny, I just found a 1956 D penny and googled it for no reason and found your blog. Nice to know its worth a dime! - not that I'll try to exchange it.
1956 D penny and googled it for no reason and found your blog.
About a dime if it's in very-fine condition.
If dirty, smudged, or scratched it's only $0.03.
I've got a couple questions.
First off, I have a 1971 D penny that appears to be silver, but is not steel. (It didn't stick to a magnet.)
How can I tell if it has been plated with something, or if it is indeed an error?
Note: It has maintained beautiful luster and has minimal tarnish and is nigh mirror-like in appearance.
I also have an 1882 Morgan dollar in very good condition. It has minor scratches/hairlines, and the strike is still bold and detailed. (I'll scan it when I get home to show you the condition.)
How much could this be worth?
I hope this blog is still alive. It's an old post, but your comments don't have dates, so I have no idea when the last activity was.
Thank you for your time.
I have a 1971 D penny that appears to be silver...nigh mirror-like in appearance.
It's plated because an off metal error would never be mirror-like.
Weighing it should confirm this.
1882 Morgan dollar in very good condition
About $22.00.

I adjusted that thanks for the hint.
How much is normal weight of a penny?
And thanks for the response.
Sorry for the late response I got a bit busy.
A 1971-D cent should weigh 3.11 grams plus or minus 0.10 grams.
hey i found 3 coins in my bro's tips They are all weat/ wreath pennies??? and one is I think a 19113 penny w/ no letter, but the date is hardly readable so i'm not sure. Next, I found a 1952 d and a 1954 d both in good- very fine concitoin, but they have some crud on htem that i can't get off. What woulsd be the value of these???
Wheat Cents in good w/ crud
1913 about $0.85
1952-D about $0.03
1954-D about $0.03
I also left this question under the "no nickel found heading" so if you see it there don't bother answering it twice. Thanks :)
I was just wondering how do you tell if a coin is worth anything? I have hundreds of coins (American, Canadian & a few from Bermuda)
Most of my coins are in GOOD shape & are from a variety of years ranging from the 1940’s to present. The ones I am mainly interested in are the pennies (both CAD. & USA) from the 1940’s & 1950’s. I also have a CAD. Quarter from 1941 & 2 USA Quarters from 1972 & 1973. Are they worth anything?
I also have a coin that looks like, but is a little larger than the CAD penny & it has “NEW PENNY 1” on one side with what looks like a crown with a gate & chains & on the other side is the Queen (just like our CAD. penny) there is no date, or country info. on this though, any ideas?
Anywhere you post a comment is fine I read and answer them all.
I was just wondering how do you tell if a coin is worth anything?
I have the Red Book by Yeoman which you can get from the library or buy it at a bookstore.
Quarters from the 1940s from any country is worth about $11.00 because of the silver.
Quarter after 1965 are just face value unless perfect and untouched.

This is a British penny made after 1971 it is just about $0.05.

I have a 1932 Canadian penny. It has the picture of a king with a crown on the oposite side.It also has a rim dent just above the "A" in Canada. It is stapled into a cardboard coin holder and is is printed in pencil on the coin holder MS60 (what does this mean?) Is this coin of any value because of the rim dent?

MS-60 means mint-state 60. The highest is MS-70 which is perfect.
The rim dent would not affect value by much. It probably would not grade above MS-60.
It's about $15.00 assuming the rim dent is very minor and not from outside damage.
i have a quick question i heard rumors that if a coin had the letter d on it it was more valuable is this true? al so heres a link with a pic of my coin on it. http://www.dummocrats.com/images/x/2005/nickels.gif- I.S.N
if a coin had the letter d on it it was more valuable is this true?
Not really. For older coins this was "mostly" true but since 1939 the amount of D(Denver) coins are the same as other coins.
For your nickel 2005 Bison
2005-P 448,320,000 were minted
2005-D 487,680,000 were minted
So the rarer coin would be the P not D. Yet so many of both were made that they hold the same value.
I have the following coins and would like to know the value...
1980 D Half Dollar Kennedy Head
1994 P Half Dollar Kennedy Head

I have a very small coin that feels and looks like aluminum. One side has Play Cent 1949 SAM, the other has Play Money Falsa Pecunia.
What can you tell me about it?
Thanks,
Play Cent 1949 SAM, the other has Play Money Falsa Pecunia.
This play money from an old set from the 1950s it is probably about $1.00 in uncirculated.
50 cents canadian 1917 crown and maple leaves on back, georgivs dei cra rex
50 cents canadian 1917
About $6.50 in very-good.

I have a 1908 silver coin about the size of a dime. it has a lady's head on the front with stars all around the outside and on the back in the center is a V and it says cents underneath of it and there is some fancy wheat on either side of the V and the outer edge says United States of America. I cannot find any info on this particular coin anywhere. the closest I've come is the lady heads with an eagle on the reverse. Anyone have any idea or suggestions for me. please email me at *******@gmail.com THANKS
1908 silver coin about the size of a dime. it has a lady's head on the front with stars all around the outside and on the back in the center is a V
This is a nickel or five cents from 1908.
Called a Liberty Head Nickel they are common nd worth about $2.00 in good.
What does the KC or KG (I can't really make it out) mean on Canadian coins? Also, I have an American 2000 Dollar Coin with an eagle on the front and a woman's face (I think I've heard somewhere that it is a native leader) on the back [in fine condition]. I have a couple 1967 Centennial Pennies with a small tilt when you flip it over (one side will be straight and when you flip the coin over, the head or bird will be tilted) and a 1967 Centennial Nickel with a big tilt as described. Also 1941 and 1953 Canadian Nickels that stand out to me [but i can't really describe why]. Man, you are so awesome for putting up this service for over a year! Thanks for the response!
What does the KC or KG (I can't really make it out) mean on Canadian coins?
The KG is the designer of the coins, George Kruger-Gray.
American 2000 Dollar Coin with an eagle on the front and a woman's face
She is Sacagawea a historic explorer and guide. The coin is just $1.00.
1967 Centennial Pennies with a small tilt when you flip it over (one side will be straight and when you flip the coin over, the head or bird will be tilted)....1967 Centennial Nickel with a big tilt as described
Sounds like a Rotated Reverse error unless it is more than 90 degrees it is just $1.00 or less.
1941 and 1953 Canadian Nickels that stand out to me [but i can't really describe why]
1941 has nothing special so about $0.20
1953 has shoulder folds are two parallel lines that look like a a strap on her shoulder. The coins with the strap also have flared "I"s meaning all the letter I look like I not a straight |
It may also have a small maple leaf on the back nearly touching the edge or far away from it.

I have a Canadian nickel Georges VI 1751-1951 (so 1951 commemorating 200 years) that I found in my change from Tim Horton's today. Any idea what it may be worth?
Canadian nickel Georges VI 1751-1951
About $0.20.
a couple of years ago I found a strange penny in the register at work. It's a 1956-D penny, with a lincoln head and wheat back. It is silver colored and non-magnetic, so I know it isn't steel. I can't seem to find anything about silver pennies besides the zinc and steel. What is it? Is it worth anything?
1956-D penny, with a lincoln head and wheat back. It is silver colored and non-magnetic, so I know it isn't steel.
Two possibilities:
1. Fake made by coating a penny in a thin layer of silver. No extra value.
2. An Off-Metal Error made of a silver dime or another type of metal. About $1,500.00 more if not silver.
To check, weigh they coin if it weighs 3.11 grams it is a fake.
Any other weight needs more investigation and is probably an error.
i was counting my change and found a 1956 D penny.i would like to know if this coin worth a lot of money. i think from now on i will collect coins.pleas pleas get back to me about this
1956 D penny
As I showed in the post about $0.10 in very fine. In good it is just $0.02.
I have found what appears to be a 1953 steel or silver wheat penny. Do you know any information about this item? It's in g/vg condition.
1953 steel or silver wheat penny. Do you know any information about this item? It's in g/vg condition.
It is either a fake or an error. I would need the weight in grams.
it is 2.81 grams in weight it's in great condition
it is 2.81 grams in weight it's in great condition
It is very possible in 1953 the
U.S. made 5 Centimes coins for Haiti.
They are 2.75 grams and 19.9 mm
The white metal is 70% copper, 18% zinc, 12%
nickel.
This has to be verified by an expert like PCGS it may cost $40+ but if real it would sell for about $700.00 depending on grade.
I have a 1943 MED FOLKET FOR FOSTERLANDET coin VG or Fine condition, the only reason I'm curious to the value is that it appears to be silver or steel, unlike the 1936 and 1937 versions I have of the same coin which are copper...
1943 MED FOLKET FOR FOSTERLANDET coin VG or Fine condition, the only reason I'm curious to the value is that it appears to be silver or steel
This is a Swedish coin but without a denomination I can't give a value. Most likely it is iron because during WWII they switched from bronze to iron.
the value is 5 FEM ORE
the value is 5 FEM ORE
This is iron and from 1942 to 1950 bronze was replaced with iron for most of the time.
It is about $0.20.
The 1936 and 1937 have similar values.
I was hoping if possible for some help on approx. values. I have (all US coins):

I have a 1956-D Lincoln penny, uncirculated. The card it came in says "clashed die causing Lincoln's ghost on reverse." I looked on the opposite side of the coin and in the upper left, next to the word ONE it does look like a tiny smudge of Lincoln's profile but it is faint. Can you tell me if this is worth anything? Thank you.
I have a 1953 steel wheat penny that is magnetic. It has been secured in a charm (just holding it in not damaging the coin.) and it hangs from a bracelet. Can you tell me how to discern if it is real or a fake? Thanks so much- Laura
1956-D Lincoln penny, uncirculated. The card it came in says "clashed die causing Lincoln's ghost on reverse."
Die clashes do not add any significant value, it's about $0.50.
I have a 1953 steel wheat penny that is magnetic. It has been secured in a charm (just holding it in not damaging the coin.) and it hangs from a bracelet. Can you tell me how to discern if it is real or a fake?
It is most likely a fake.
Take it off of the charm and weigh it.
If it weighs 3.11 grams it's a fake any other weight requires further research.
re: 1953 steel penny in charm: Your response was so fast- Thank you! The penny weighs 1 ounce which I believe is 28.3495 grams. Any ideas?
Sorry- Sorry- The penny weighs POINT 1 of an ounce. I guess I need more coffee. 2.81 grams
The penny weighs POINT 1 of an ounce. I guess I need more coffee. 2.81 grams
Very odd because a steel penny should weigh 2.70 grams.
According to all the data I have this error is not possible.
From what I can guess if it was in a charm it could be a fake.
That said it could be an unknown error if you can get some one to see the coin in hand, like a local coin dealer.
Or take some good pictures of it and post it on a free photo site so that more coin experts can see it that would help.
Sorry I couldn't be more exact.
I have:
1946 US Quater PG,
1954D US Quater VG,

My friend told me there was a penny worth over 100,000.00 is there any truth to this and if so which one is it?
My friend told me there was a penny worth over 100,000.00 is there any truth to this and if so which one is it?
There are a few but the most famous is the 1943 bronze cent at Mint State 61 that sold for $112,000 in a 1999 auction. Other 1943-D and 1943-S sold for more.
Most of these $100,000 cents are very high grades and rare errors.
1937 republika ceskoslovenska 1 need some information on it found it in my yard in alabama.and have found more?
1937 republika ceskoslovenska 1
From Czechoslovakia I would need a denomination or a description of each side.
Most 1937 Czech coins are common but there is a valuable and rare gold coin.
I have a Authentic 1920 Lincoln wheat cent, is it worth anything?
1920 Lincoln wheat cent about $0.20
how much value would a roll of 1940-1958 wheat penny have?
I also was wondering the same about a roll of 1909-1939 pennies.
Assuming every minor coin is there in circulated fine...
roll of 1940-1958 wheat penny about $5.00
roll of 1909-1939 pennies about $15.00
Any major coin should be aside and a roll of 100 won't have every coin minted from 1909-1958.
I just found a small date 1960 (no D) penny in AU-55 condition. I read somewhere that these pennies were even more scarce than the small date pennies from 1960 with the Denver mint mark on them. I wonder how much the value is on such a penny in the given condition.
small date 1960 (no D) penny in AU-55 condition.
About $0.50 it is still fairly easy to find in MS-65 or above.
i have a 1956D wheat penny in very fine condition but how am i able to reclaim the money for it
1956D wheat penny in very fine condition
About $0.10 the only way to get any money is to sell it in person at a coin shop which is about $0.02 or $0.03 depending on the dealer.
In person always gets you less money but it is too common for eBay.
Inspite its condition, it is very rare for someone to pick up such a coin from change. Especially now with all the enthusiasts that are trying their luck in finding rare circulated coins. Thank you for your posts. It helps a lot of people with their search for coin information.
i have a 1966 nickle its says uncle sam play nickle falsa pegunia would like to know how much it is worth, thank you
1966 nickle its says uncle sam play nickle falsa pegunia
It is fake money, it should say 1966 nickle its says "uncle sam play nickel falsa pecunia".
They average about $0.10 or less depending on condition.
I found 2 pennies, dated 1974 and 1980, that have some of the back of the penny (the lincoln memorial) on the front, and the head of lincoln on the back. it also looks as if part of the metal from other pennies had melted onto them. the 1974 penny has the date in the usual place, but when i looked again i saw another 1974 with the D appear on the bottom left section of the coin, with the numbers and mint mark going backwards. the 1980 penny, although the back looks normal, part of the lincoln memorial could be seen on the front.

This one sounds like damage but it could also be an error called Die Clash were the reverse image of one side of a coin is present on the other side.
Either way they have no extra value.
the 1980 penny, although the back looks normal, part of the lincoln memorial could be seen on the front.
This one is also sounding like a die clash, again no extra value.
I have a 1963 10 ORE Danmark coin (looks silver)can you tell me what it's value is?

It sounds like the "o" is a damaged "d", no extra value, maybe $0.03.

This is either a weak strike or a struck through grease error, either way it has no extra value.

In circulated grade they are all just $0.25.
In high grades (MS-65) all the 1999 and Tennessee are about $3.00.
Ball park what would a proof/uncirculated collection from 1953 to date be worth. The last 30 years has just been buying from the mint direct.
Ball park what would a proof/uncirculated collection from 1953 to date be worth.
Assuming just regular proof and mint sets about $5,000.00.
Add all the prestige, premier, and silver sets it would be about $10,000.00.
Add to that all the errors it would be $20,000.00.

I work at a bank and have been picking up coins I think are cool, well yeasteday I hit the jack pot in wheat pennies, today I was going through them and found A 1956D with a blank unstruck back, any idea what the value is?
1956D with a blank unstruck back
These are generally damaged as unstruck backs are not possible. If the coin is severely out of shape it might be real but most are just damage.
where do you recommend I take it to check the autantisity on this pennie
where do you recommend I take it to check the autantisity on this pennie
It may cost $60 to grade the coin that is worth $20 or even nothing.
I first recommend posting pictures online then try finding error experts online then finally try a local coin shop.

About $0.05 the error is to minor to affect value.

No these days eBay is the biggest force for coin collectors/sellers.
Try looking here...
http://www.pcgs.com/dealers/
They are certified which gives them a little more credibility but you should buy a coin book, maybe the North American Coins & Prices or Krause World coins, even an older version is fine since most that has changed is silver prices.

I have found a 1941 wheat penny that seems to be made of an alternate metal. No mint mark, is NOT plated, appears gold/brass in color.
Weight is 3.4g
I have found absolutely NO info on alternates/oddities in '41. Any ideas?
1941 wheat penny that seems to be made of an alternate metal. No mint mark, is NOT plated, appears gold/brass in color.
Weight is 3.4g
Very odd I checked the foreign production figures at the time and no coin comes close to that weight.
It may be some type of planchet error. It should I now of some as high as 3.30 grams but never 3.4 grams.
The only thing left is to have it graded, it may be label off-metal unknown? or try a local coin club or dealer just for an inquiry.
I'll try to find one locally. I did find one other occurrence of this on another forum, so there's at least two.

If you have that forum's link please drop it here.
The pictures looks like the coin had been polished which may affect the weight but usually less.
Not to point fingers but did you try multiple scales with 0.01 accuracy.
Merry Christmas to you too, I'm cooking Christmas dinner right now :) waiting for family all weekend.

Umm, yeah that was me. No chemicals were used, just a cotton cloth. The only reason was that my mind refused to believe what my eyes were telling it.
This came from a collection from my grandparents, and has spent the last 50 or so years in an olive jar. The patina on the other coins range from a deep red to almost a beige, very close to the dull areas on this coin. That combined with the year, and that I found no info on Brass in '41, kind of drove me to be sure it wasn't copper. (or bronze, as it were)
And no, my only scale goes down to .0, no further.
The other thing I noticed was a "grain" to the coin, as though it were present before stamping. It is present on both sides, running NW-SE.
Umm, yeah that was me. No chemicals were used, just a cotton cloth. The only reason was that my mind refused to believe what my eyes were telling it.
Oh no, a cleaned coin is considered damaged and would drop the value 90%. Cotton is very harsh on coins and most grading companies will not grade cleaned coins even if it is a rare error.
The other thing I noticed was a "grain" to the coin, as though it were present before stamping. It is present on both sides, running NW-SE.
Typical in thick planchet errors.
Brass or improperly mixed cents usually weigh less but at most adds 0.15 grams meaning 3.11 + 0.15 = 3.26 still less than your coin.

"1960 20F Belgie ????? not listed check the date or describe more" Sorry about that the date is actually 1980 and the coin does have a 20F on the back with the date and BELGIE. On the front however There is a mans face facing to the left (if your looking at it) and some type of squiggly mark under his head, im not sure if its some type of writing or what it is.

Im not sure if it is a copy though.....its in pretty rough shape, but the words are still readable. Is there any value to this coin if it is in fact an original coin? or even if it is a copy does it have any value?
I also found a few more coins today and they are american.

I dont know if you know anything about paper money or just coins but i found something interesting that was left to me in my grandfathers will....
An 1896 $2 silver certificate and the note features art of Robert Fulton and Samuel F. B. Morse (from what i have found out so far) surrounded by a design that occupies almost the entire certificate. Do you have any idea what this is worth?
Also an 1879 $5 Liberty Head Gold Coin that i found a couple of years ago at a yard sale and its enclosed in a plastic case and doesnt appear to have ever been opened. The coin was only $10 at the yard sale but im hopin its worth more than that.
Please let me know and thanks!

About $400.00 in very-fine but many fakes exist, I suggest going to a jewelry to make sure it is real gold.
i founded a 1956-D penny, but the D is very closed to date. Any info about it?
1956-D penny, but the D is very closed to date
This is common among older coins since the mintmark was punched separately. So no extra value.
Hello. My name is Jamie. and recently my gramma passed away. We were going thou all her belongings when we found a bag of pennies. All ranging from 1928 and up. Now I haven't made it all the way through this bag, so I am unsure if there are any ones that are older. So, we have decided to hang on to them for our children. Do have any idea, "when or if" these pennies would be worth anything? And justa little update, I just found a penny that is dated 1918. Can you tell me anything about this penny in its self? To contact me it's cringeyes@hotmail.com .. Thank you so very much.
1918 wheat cent about $0.20.

Hey man, it's me from Dec. 24th. I had that brass cent graded. As follows:
1941 1c struck on a planchet 3.41 grams.
Mint Error XF40
85%Cu 11%Zn 4%Sn
The grading was done by NGC. This shed any light on who's planchet got struck? I have the mint's list of foreign coins minted, but it's too vague to narrow down. Perhaps you know of a better resource, or course of investigation?

I have a 70 page foreign/US coins list and that mixture is not listed or even close.
I checked Heritage auction and several were sold as extra-thick improper from $75 to $200.
Also a Google search says the same...

Not a foreign planchet but improper mix, apparently 1941 had plenty.
