1998 Hong Kong 50 Cents

Another neat Hong Kong coin. It is the third in three months and I am not sure why there is a run on coins from Hong Kong. I think there economy is great so travel is more likely.

Simple design identical to all their other coins.

Here's the stats for both coins...
Type/Country: 50 Cents / Hong Kong

1995 Hong Kong 20 Cents

A nice scalloped shaped coins with 12 notches. It is  common coin design to easily make a coin that is almost round. Having this shape gives you all the benefits of a round coin but a easy distinction from other denominations.

The front has the same Bauhinia flower just like the other Hong Kong coins. Although no mintage figures are available I am guessing a lot were made because Hong Kong is a modern place with a robust economy.

1998 Hong Kong 10 Cents

It has been three years since I last found a coin from Hong Kong. The reason I suspect is that their metal content is too different form American coins. Their economy is good and travel among nations is common. I think I got this as a penny.

The Bauhinia flower is on the front. The back has the denomination and year. This one is brass plated steel which solves the problem of steel getting scratched.

1994 Hong Kong Dollar

Have a Hong Kong coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment

Found Hong Kong coins in my change before but it must have been before I started blogging about them. Well out of the vaults for the day I finally get to showcase one.

香港 (Bauhinia flower) HONG KONG
1 1994 ONE DOLLAR
Not sure what the two characters above the 1 on the reverse means but I am sure it is PG.

The coin has some rust and is a bit scratched. It has plenty of empty field space so the scratches just stand out more.

Here's the stats for both coins...
Type/Country: 1 Dollar / Hong Kong
Edge: Reeded
Year: 1994
Mintage: Unknown
Metal: Copper-Nickel
Value: $0.15 in Fine
