Anonymous said...This is one of the most common dates for older wheat cents because all together about 2 billion (2,000,000,000) were minted. So far I've found 18 cents dated 1944 mostly in good to extremely fine condition. Very Fine is not worn on the back and slightly worn on the front. Extremely Fine barely any wear and sharp details. I've never found a 1944D or 1944S.

You could be right this info was from August 2005 and books published in Febuary 2005.
I will update all values when I get the new books in mid-2006.
I have a 1930 Wheat penny. Any good info?
Yeah...
Year: 1930
Mintage: 157,415,000
Metal: 95% copper 5% tin and zinc
Value: $0.10 in G-4(good)
.......$0.25 in F-12(fine)
.......$2.00 in AU-50(almost uncirculated)
I do not what web site to go, but I have a 1942 wheat penny. On the back it has written ONE CENT.
1942
$0.10 in good
$0.20 in very fine
A very common coin.
I have a 1944 wheat penny. It seems to be in very good condition, in my opinion, however I am not exactly a coin expert.
There's hardly any wear to the coin, and every detail is still very clearly visible. While there is some blacking to the coin, I have no other way to describe the darkening of the coin, the coin is still relatively a copper-ish color.
I think I'll just hold onto it for a while, but I'm just curious as to how much it's worth at the moment.
Color is not always a bad thing, condition is based on the details of the coins; are they all there and sharp.
The wheat stalks in the back should be unbroken, all of Lincolns hair, ear and clothing should be visible.
Then comes wear meaning flat spots that rub away the detail.
AU-50 is slight wear, all details is $0.35
MS-63 is Red, no wear, like new
is $0.75
The price on this coin hardly changes because it is very common.
what is the value of a 1946 wheat penny in very good condition.
1946 in VG =$0.05
I HAVE A 1919,1948,1952,1926AND A 1954 WHEAT PENNIES. ARE THEY WORTH ANYTHING OTHER THAN 1 CENT?
1919--$0.65
1926--$0.45
1948--$0.10
1952--$0.10
1954--$0.25
All these value are for very fine condition which is nice detail and no bad marks.
Hi my name is Isaac and I have a
1944 wheat penny. How much is it
worth?
Isaac if you read the above it's anywhere from $0.10 - $0.75.
I have a 1881 penny what is it worth?
1881 penny is $5.00 in G-4(good).
I found a 1944 wheat penny and the L in liberty appears to be printed on the lip of the coin. I held it up to a regular penny adn it is actually a bit bigger so I dont think the edge is folded. Any idea if this is an error?
That is either a mis-aligned die or an off center penny but it is a very minor error.
The value of a 1944 penny starts at $0.02 but with this error youn add $0.50, I know not much 1944 is very common.
I have wheat pennys from 1940-1959
how much are they worth?
I have a penny from 1890, what is it worth?
how much is a 1903 penny worth?
1940-1959 about $0.05 or $0.06 each in fine grade.
1890 is $5.00 in fine grade.
1903 is $4.00 in fine grade.
I Have a 1944D Wheat Penny. Does Anyone Know It's Worth?
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
1944D $0.10 in very-fine.
It's right there in the original post.
I have several wheat pennies, one 1919, two 1936, one 1939, several different 40's and several 50's up to 1955.
What are they worth?
1919 is about $0.65
1936 is about $0.50
1939 is about $0.25
40's are about $0.10
50's are about $0.10
1955 is about $0.10
This is in very fine grade.
I have a 1944 and 1952 penny in ok condition
1944 in good $0.04
1952 in good $0.04
what the value of a penny 1946 in pounds?
1946 Cent is about 0.05 pounds. About 5 British cents if the penny is in good condition.
Anyone know the value of a 1944 steel penny?
1944 steel penny
It has been rumored to exist and would be worth thousand but I've never seen one.
Some 1944 cents were from silver dimes and are worth hundreds.
Here is the link to an expert on rare error coins send him a message if you believe it is real. LINK
I have a 1944 penny with the back mistamped. The back is slightly visible with no ridge.
The front is excellent.
Value? Info?
Sound like a struck, damaged or defective planchet. Or just slightly off center in a penny as common as 1944, without a good picture I can only guess $2.00-$4.00 value.
One sided damage is not good indicator of mint error and can occur outside the mint making it worthless.
I believe i have got a pretty interesting penny on my hands. It is a 1944S wheat back in good condition. The color is a silver copper mix or kind of pinkish. Do you have any comments on what it might be worth. thanks
Sounds odd I never heard of this, it is possible a 1944 coin could have been made of silver but I don't know.
Here Fred is an expert.
there are some silver cents if yours looks like one of those drop him an email.
I read about 1943 pennies being worth alot of money if they don't stick to a magnet but what about a 1944 penny that doesn't stick to a magnet?
Copper is not magnetic and it is what cents in the US at the time were made of.
1943 pennies are made of steel so they will stick to a magnet. If one is made of copper it is rare and worth a lot.
1944 pennies were made of copper again and will not stick to magnets, but some 1944 pennies were accidentally made of steel.
So if a 1944 cent sticks to a magnet it is rare and worth a lot.
1919 wheat penny? worth anything? hah..I doubt it but I figured it's worth a try
1919 penny is worth about $0.15 in good condition date is readable very brown and every detail is not perfect.
In perfect condition no marks slightly red and full brilliant details it would be $13.00
i have a 1944, a 1945 ,and a 1950.
what are they worth all together.
1944, a 1945 ,and a 1950?
I assume they are pennies in very-fine condition in that case each is worth about $0.10.
yo manny i have a 1956 italiana repvbblca coin that is L 100 how much do you think it sa worth
hey i have a 1943 wheat penny how much is it worth . i am about to through it away. yeah.
1956 italiana repvbblca coin that is L 100
Type/Country: 100 Lire/Italy
Year: 1956R
Mintages: 99,800,000
Metal: Stainless steel
Value: $0.25 in Fine
1943 wheat penny
In fine it is $0.25 you can use it without feeling you lost any money because most dealers pay about $0.05 for them. Not a big deal.
you said that a 1943 wheat is 0.10 cents to another person. i just went to a offical web site and saw it is worth between 60000 and 90000 dollars. i think you told the person a wrong thing. also im thinking you might not be correct about the values of other peoples pennies.
There is no official website for coins.
I've been collecting for 25 years and I have ten years worth of RED BOOKS and about 100 coin books in my library.
You are confused the 1943 steel cent is worth less then a dollar if it is copper then it is worth thousands.
I give the average buyers price, they use this because it is the industry standards.
Please drop a link of this "official website".
According to the COINage mag. a 1944-D Lincoln cent is worth $36 in good condition, and $48 in Very Good condition. is this wrong? am I holding on to my penny for nothing?
1944-D Lincoln cent is worth $36 in good condition, and $48 in Very Good condition????
That is completely wrong. Go on eBay and look up 1944 d cent and you can get shiny high grade ones for $0.99.
The only way I can see a 1944D cent being that valuable if it is the 1944D over S. It is a rare error that has the D mark over an S mark. This error is listed in all coin books and mags.
i have a 1944d where do i sell it
A 1944D cent could be sold at a coin shop for 2 cents on eBay for 1 cent.
It is too common to sell for profit even in perfect condition and certified it would bring only $1.00.
As I write this some people are wanting a law to exchange old pennies(pre-1982) for 5 cents. Keep the cent and wait for news.
i have a 1951 s penny and i want to know how much its worth
1951-S cent
$0.15 in very fine.
i just love you
i just love you
Your so sweet.
i have wheat pennies in reasonable but slightly dirty condition. they are years 1956-1942. how much would they all be worth if i sold they together? (like to a collector) I was just going though my good coins and found them. lol thanks agian.
Cents slightly dirty condition 1956-1942.
Less then $0.05 each, these are very common years and even I have mint condition example of these coins that I bought for $0.10 many years ago.
how much is a 1950s wheat pennie worth
1950s cents average $0.10 or less in very-fine condition.
i have a 1943 penny and it doesnt seem to stick to a megnet. does it mean it is not worth any think
1943 cent should stick to a magnet if it doesn't then it may be valuable.
Take it to a professional coin service and they can weigh it and use better magnets to see if it is special or a fake.
I have a 1930 wheat penny with a d on it in good condition what is it worth?
1930D wheat penny, good condition
About $0.15.
i have a 1946 wheat penny that was struck clean but the coin is only as thick as a couple of sheets of paper, what would it be worth?
1946 wheat penny thin planchet.
Very odd I don't know about this error but it can be caused by a piece of scrap metal being pressed.
Or it was some kind of brockage.
I suspect it is a fake or half of a "magic" coin. Without seeing it it is nearly impossible to tell.
I have a 1939 wheat penny in very good condition. What is its value?
rtr
1939 cent in very good
It is about $0.18
i cant seem to find the mint mark on a 1944 pennie do you know what it is worth
ive fond what i think is two p's across the nose on the bottom edge .any clue what its worth
cant seem to find the mint mark on a 1944 pennie
That is normal on a US 1944 penny. No mintmark means it is made in Philadelphia.
It is worth about $0.10 in very-fine.
ive fond what i think is two p's across the nose on the bottom edge .any clue what its worth
I've got no idea what this is. No P's were ever used on US pennies. Sounds like damage.
i looked harber and they were es sorry
I have a 1944 metal penny. They minted 1943 penny's in metal so they could have enough copper for the war. Thay accidently minted some metal penny's in 1944. There was not many minted when they realized they made a mistake, so they stopped minting them. I seen on the tv one night that this man had one and he claims that it was worth $80,000. Please let me know. Thank you.
I have a 1944 metal penny.
The metal used in 1943 was Zinc Coated Steel. This is very magnetic.
Take a magnet and place it on the 1944 cent if it sticks then it is steel. Next weigh it. It should be 2.70 grams.
If not it may be fake or an error made from silver or a foreign coin.
The mint did not know any were made, if they did they would have been destroyed. Instead about 75 steel 1944 cents accidentally slipped through.
The last I heard a circulated example sold for $14,500.
i got a 1918,1928,1938,1939 penny i want to know how much they are worth?
All values are given in good condition.
Cent...
1918 about $0.20
1928 about $0.20
1938 about $0.15
1939 about $0.15
i have a 1944 wheat penny without any mint marks on it. what does that mean?
1944 wheat penny without any mint marks
It means that it was made in Philadelphia. Pennies that are from Philadelphia never carry a P mintmark only Denver(D) or San Fransisco(S). It is normal.
There were 1,435,400,000 1944 cents from Philly so they are very common and only worth $0.10 in very fine.
i have a 1944 D
PENNY AND MY DAUGHTER HAS A 1919 WHEAT PENNY HOW MUCH IS IT WORTH ? IT DOESNT HAVE A- D OR S
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ?
1944 D
PENNY AND MY DAUGHTER HAS A 1919 WHEAT PENNY HOW MUCH IS IT WORTH ? IT DOESNT HAVE A- D OR S
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ?
No mintmark means it is from Philadelphia.
D is from Denver.
S is from San Francisco.
1944-D is about $0.10 in very fine
1919 is about $0.75 in very fine
Very fine should have all the details clearly visible.
I know that these probably aren't worth much,
but I have
1944
1947 D
(and if you can answer these non penny questions I'd be so greatfull.)
1940 CANADIAN silver quarter
1999 & 2000 Canadian quarters (with designs) and a olimpic canadian quarter (From this year)
And..
One 1914 S buffalo nickel and a 1946 jefferson coin. Thanks!!!
All values are in very fine.
1944 about $0.10
1947 D about $0.10
1940 CANADIAN quarter about $0.10
1999 & 2000 Canadian quarters about $0.25
Olympic Canadian quarter about $0.50 in mint.
1914 S nickel about $55.00
1946 nickel about $0.25
The 1914 S nickel is worth
$24.00 in good and $185.00 in mint.
Omg... I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Woo hoo!!! *go Manny go manny*
100 bucks says I..
I have a 1960 zinc colored penny that is slightly magnetic. Any ideas?
1960 pennies were not made of zinc only after 1982 were they made of zinc. Plus zinc is not magnetic.
It sounds like it may be an off-metal error.
There are several cents made of silver dimes in 1960 worth $1,500.00, but they are not magnetic.
There are also some made on a Cuba 1 centavo blank, again they're nickel, non-magnetic and mostly from 1958.
You would have to weigh it, get a good picture, and then ask here or at Fred Weinberg's site. He is an error expert.
what is the value of a 1948 wheat penny very good condition
1948 wheat penny very good condition
About $0.03
i bought a bulk lot of 1943 steel penny and when i was going through them i found a 1944 steel penny, i checked it with a magnet to make sure, any ideas what its worth?
Someone else just ask this so I'll quote myself.
The other way to check is to weigh it.
It should weigh 2.70 grams give or take 0.1 grams.
I've seen forgeries and the weight is right and the metal is right but when checked under a microscope it was a 1943 that had the last number altered.
Fakes are common. Fred Weinberg is the best error dealer and you may want to contact him on what to do next.
There have been several found and they average $10,000.00 I suspect a new find might bring in double the price.
More likely it is a silver cent where a 1944 silver dime was accidentally used instead of a copper blank. These average $1,700.00.
thank so much, i'll get it appraised. thanks
oh, how do i get a hold of fred Weinberg?

I just bought a book full of indian head war pennies 90 to be exact the dates start in 1863 and end in 1908? i am missing a few years in between though. how much do you think a set like this would be worth? and how much would the 1863 penney be worth? they are all in good condition. any ideas?
1863 and end in 1908
1863 is about $12.00
Key dates worth $50 or more each are 1867, 1869, 1870, 1872, 1877, 1908S, and 1909S.
The range should be from 1859-1909 with two S coins from 1908S and 1909S.
Most cents from 1859-1878 average $20.00 or more.
From 1879-1909 average $4.00 or less.
I found a 1944 silver penny. It's in near mint condition and there is no mark on it pertaining to what mint printed it. Is this worth anything? Or should i jut keep it as a lucky penny? Thanx
1944 silver penny. It's in near mint condition
Sounds fake. No silver or steel cents were made in 1944.
In 1943 they were steel.
Some errors were made of silver, they are about $2,000.00.
But many fakes were made that are worthless.
You need to weigh it and take a good picture.
i have a 1944 wheat penny and was wondering how much is worth . plese let me know.andis in a pretty good condition
1944 wheat penny
In very-fine about $0.10.
I have three wheat pennies, they are dated dated 1914,1940 and 1958, and i was wondering how much they are worth ? They are in decent condition except for the 1914 which is starting to fade..
1914 about $0.60
1940 about $0.15
1958 about $0.04
I have a 1944 penny which I first thought was silver, then I did some research and I learned that it must stick to a magnet which it does and it must weigh in @ 2.70 grams which it actually weighs 3.03, I took it to a Jeweler he looked at it and said it was plated and didnt say much else, then I took it to a coin dealer he looked at it said yes that it was from 1944 then let land on the counter and said it was worth nothing, not sure but I really find that hard to beleive, what is your opinion?
1944 penny which I first thought was silver, then I did some research and I learned that it must stick to a magnet which it does and it must weigh in @ 2.70 grams which it actually weighs 3.03,
It can't be silver because it is magnetic.
It can't be from a 1943 steel blank because it weighs too much.
It sounds like a fake.
It doesn't hurt to hold on to it but it failed most of the test known.
Unless you can find a coin minted in the U.S. for a foreign country in 1944 that was steel and weighed 3 grams you just have a fake.
I have a 1905 Penny How much is it worth
1905 Penny
About $2.00 in good, more if it's in better condition.
I have two 1944 wheat pennies neither has a d or a P their in
good condition neither sticks to
a magnet how much are they worth?
1944 wheat pennies neither has a d or a P
No mintmark means they are from Philadelphia which is normal.
They're about 0.03 in good.
I found a 1944s penny, how much would that be worth?
1944s penny
In very-fine about $0.15
I have a 1944 D penny that is totally blank on the back. I have no idea how it happened, I guess it wasn't stamped.
I have a 1960 Lincoln Cent that is steel colored and slightly magnetic (enought to hold its weight) Any one have any ideas??
1960 Lincoln Cent that is steel colored and slightly magnetic
Odd it needs to be weighed because during the same time the U.S. made steel coins for other countries.
If you can find the weight then it would be easier to see if this error is possible and how much it can be worth.
OK, I went to a jeweler and the 1960 steel colored lincoln cent weight is 3.1 Grams. Any idea or thoughts on it. Demetri
1960 steel colored lincoln cent weight is 3.1 Grams
I thought it could be a Cuba, Brazil, or Phillipine coin but the weight is not right.
Next a copper cent should weigh 3.11 grams which is exactly yours.
I think it may be some sort of paint.
To be exact you would need to have it looked by a coin ship or grading service.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but I think it's fake. I hope it isn't. Good luck.
Thanks, you were a help, you mentioned Fred above, Fred sez..... it is nickel coated. Thanks again (smile) D
I have two 1919 wheat penny's one has an s and the other not sure can't really tell, also have 1928s and a 1934 doesn't look like there ever was a mint stamp but I am not real sure just how it looks.
wheat penny in good condition
1919 about $0.20
1919D about $0.25
1919S about $0.20
1928s about $0.35
1934 about $0.15
In low grades where the mintmark is not completely visible it brings down the value to less then listed.
i heard that some 1944 wheat pennies might have errors similar to the 1943 ones. what mint are these 1944 errors from and how much are they worth?
1944 wheat pennies might have errors similar to the 1943 ones. what mint are these 1944 errors from and how much are they worth?
I know of no famous errors in the 1943 cent it is steel but that is not an error.
Any 1944 cents that were made in steel are worth thousand but less then a few dozen were ever certified authentic worth a lot.
Other famous 1944 errors are...
Minted on silver dime worth several thousands.
A Doubled Die Obverse exist and it is a couple of hundred in MS-60(mint state) or better.
Of course there are the standard errors like off-center or die break and those depend on the severity of the error.
I recently found a 1944 steel penny, how do I tell if its fake or the real thing?
1944 steel penny
If it weighs anything but 3.11 you mat have something.
Hi I was going through some of my grandmothers old wheat pennies and found two 1944 pennies one is plain and the other is a 1944D what would you value them at?
1944 pennies one is plain and the other is a 1944D
About $0.10 each in very-fine.
These are very common.
a 1944 penny in good condition is now worth $2000.00
1944 penny in good condition is now worth $2000.00
Unless it is an error no way.
Never all 1944 cents are common and worth about 2-10 cents in low grades.
I have a 1944 penny minted in Denver. How do I tell if it is a D over S mint? Thanks
1944 penny minted in Denver. How do I tell if it is a D over S mint?
Usually above the D is a faint outline of the curve of the S.
I have a five wheat pennies wjth the following: 1940D, 1944, 1946, 1952D and 1958. What are the values for these, I thought they were rare but apparently they are very common.
Very common is right, I'll guess good condition.
1940D about $0.10
1944 about $0.03
1946 about $0.03
1952D about $0.03
1958 about $0.03
I have a 1944 wheat penny in excellent condition, and a 1945 wheat penney slight wear condition. Are they of any value?
1944 wheat penny in excellent condition
If it looks like a brand new penny with full shine and red then about $2.00
1945 wheat penney slight wear condition
About $0.10
I have a 1944 S Penny with the letters "STH" stamped in large letters across the face of the penny. Is this something significant, or is this just someone defacing the coin with a die?
1944 S Penny with the letters "STH"
Basically worthless sounds like either it's a love token that someone put their initials and put it on a pendant or chain for someone.
Or an angry collector overpaid for a worthless coin and made sure no would ever overpay again.
If it was given to you by a family member from WWII it may have some folk art value if you knew STH real name.
I have a 1955 penny that looks like steel, but is not. It is in a small casing that a magnet is attracted to it. Any thoughts. Thank you.
955 penny that looks like steel, but is not. It is in a small casing that a magnet is attracted to it.
Sounds like someone turned it into a charm or pendant. It has no numismatic value.
That said as a piece of jewelry I've seen it sell for $1.25, if coated in silver.I don't think this is silver because of the magnetism.
who do we collect the money..bcause i have a 1944 penny.
who do we collect the money..bcause i have a 1944 penny.
Not sure what your asking but a 1944 cent is about $0.03 in low grades so no one will buy it unless you had a couple of hundred.
I have a 1936 wheat back penny that is not attracted to a magnet. What is the value of this coin?
1936 wheat back penny
About $0.15 in good.
I found a 1945 lincoln cent in excellent condition which appears to be made of bronze. I have looked every where and can't find another example like it. I also have a 1973 that looks plastic, and a 1980 that is black. It has no damage and also has "oil like" colors in it. Can you help me please!?
1945 lincoln cent in excellent condition which appears to be made of bronze. I
All 1945 cents are bronze, some were made of bullet cartridges and are slightly off color but have no extra value. In extra-fine it's about $0.20
1973 that looks plastic, and a 1980 that is black.
These are just environmental damaged coins and are just worth their face value.
Which penny is worth the most money? And how much is it worth?
Which penny is worth the most money? And how much is it worth?
The problem with that question is that it depends, on grade, year and errors.
Coppers from the 1780s are worth tens of thousands but then so can a high grade error from 1955.
The most valuable coins in G-4(good) that are not errors 1909S VDB, 1877, 1856.
With errors or varieties then 1955 doubled die, 1922 no D, 1888/7.
All are about $900.00 in G-4, some much more.
I want to know as soon as possible how many U.S. dollars my 1944, F12 condition, wheat penny is worth? I have been trying to use google for 2hrs. and 32 mins. now and cant find ANYTHING else better than this so please e-mail me at *******@yahoo.com when you read this b/c i am becoming very impatient now...by the way my penny also has some slight bending around the rim...if that counts for anything...
U.S. dollars my 1944, F12 condition....slight bending around the rim
About $0.03 or less.
HI i found this 1944D (one cent) can you tell me how much it worth...here is my email (***********@yahoo.com)
1944D (one cent)
Anything less then very-fine is about $0.03.
hi i found a few coins that are diffent from my ohter coins what are they worth? They are: 1944 penny, 1990 penny with a D underneath the 1990, a 1971 dime with a D underneath the 1979, and finally a 2005, 2002, 2006, 1995, 1993 quaters with a D underneath the years(I have 4 2002 quaters with the D?, is there a reason for that?) Most of these like i said have a D on them while all the rest of my coins have either a P or nothing on them.
sry did a typo the dime is 1971, oh and what do the D and P on coins stand for? and whats it mean if there is no P or D on it?
I'll assume good condition.
1944 penny about $0.03
1990-D about $0.01
1971-D dime about $0.10
1979 about $0.10
2005D quarter about $0.25
2002D about $0.25
2006D about $0.25
1995D about $0.25
1993D about $0.25
2002D about $0.25
Most of these like i said have a D on them while all the rest of my coins have either a P or nothing on them.
D is for Denver
P or blank is for Philadelphia
These are the locations where the coins are minted. It is common for East coast people to get more P or blank coins because the Philly mint is closer.
West Coast people see more Denver coins because Denver is closer.
There are also S for San Fransisco and a few other that are seldom found in circulation.
are the older style pennys supposed to be like one side: upside down, and the other side like:rightside up????.......cause i have a 1944 wheat penny like that.......and if its not supposed to be like that could it be worht money?????
one side: upside down, and the other side like:rightside up????.......cause i have a 1944 wheat penny
Yes if you mean that holding the coin with your finger and thumb and the face is rightside up then spinning it will show the reverse upside.
This is normal it's called coin alignment.
i have the entire world war two penny collection in very good condition. how much is it worth.
entire world war two penny collection in very good condition
Not sure what years your covering but I'll assume 1939-1945 and none of them are errors or varieties.
It's about $4.33.
Ty for your help. I have a 1940 Lincoln wheat penny with a large S deeply stamped into the front above the date. And on the reverse the large S stamp is bottom center under United States of America. Can you advise on this find we have. Ty in advance JD
1940 Lincoln wheat penny with a large S deeply stamped into the front above the date. And on the reverse the large S stamp is bottom center under United States of America.
This is damage. Done outside the mint for some unknown reason. The S should be below the date.
No extra value. As for history this is nearly impossible to find.
1909 wheat penny value ?
1909 wheat penny
About $2.50 in good.
I HAVE A 1944 COPPER PENNY IT S BENTED HOW MUCH IS IT WORTH
1944 COPPER PENNY IT S BENTED

I have 2 pennies from 1974, and there is this website that says that most were destroyed. Is there still a chance that at least one of the two are aluminum? Here's the website: http://coins.thefuntimesguide.com/2006/01/rare_pennies.php
2 pennies from 1974, and there is this website that says that most were destroyed. Is there still a chance that at least one of the two are aluminum?
10 billion 1974 cents were made in copper.
Of the 1.5 million made in aluminum one went to a museum another the Toven Specimen was authenticated and then the government threatened to take but has not yet.
It is illegal to own so others may exist but people are to afraid to talk.
If real it weighs 0.93 grams.
If fake it weighs 3.11 grams.
But there are errors made of silver and other stuff also known by weight. These are legal and sell for thousands.
You must weigh it to be sure.
i have a 1955 wheat penny, circulated but in good condition. on the date, the first five doesn't look like a 5. it looks like the top of it was filled in. like it didn't form the top of the 5. its just like a little tiny box with a hook coming out the bottom of it. so imagine a 5 but with the top part filled in. thats the only way to describe it. and i was woundering if it is worth anything?
1955 wheat penny, circulated but in good condition...so imagine a 5 but with the top part filled in.
This is a minor die break known as a filled die. It has no extra value. So about $0.10.
I have a 1944s penny, what is its value
1944s penny
About $0.15 in very-fine.
since i was a child i was told of a 58 penny with the Lincoln monument on it and that it is worth a large amount.... does this actually exist?
58 penny with the Lincoln monument on it and that it is worth a large amount.... does this actually exist?
It does not.
This error is not possible.
One 1959 wheat cent was found but remains unverified.
I have a real 1944D Penny. What is the worth?
1944D Penny.
About $0.10 in very-fine.
I have a 1944s penny, what is it worth?
1944s penny about $0.05 in fine.
I have a penny from 1957. The bottom part of the B in liberty is not empty, it is filled with metal. Is this an error coin? Would appreciate an answer and if you know the value maybe. Thanks.
penny from 1957. The bottom part of the B in liberty is not empty, it is filled with metal. Is this an error coin?
Yes it's a die chip error but it is so common that it carries no extra value.
So maybe about $0.05 for this coin in very-fine.
1964 D Lincoln penny with "in god we trust" written all the way on the margin of the penny.
1968 D Lincoln penny with "in god we trust" written the same way, the letters are not whole because the are on the margin. The B in liberty is not clear you can not see well the holes in B especially the lower part of B.
Are they errors? Do you know the value?
tnk
1970 Lincoln penny, space bigger then other pennies between L and I in Liberty. It is pretty colorful more red than others. Any value please?
Can we send you pictures of coins?
1964 D Lincoln penny with "in god we trust" written all the way on the margin of the penny.
Sounds like a slightly Off-Center error, no extra value.
1968 D Lincoln penny with "in god we trust" written the same way, the letters are not whole because the are on the margin. The B in liberty is not clear you can not see well the holes in B especially the lower part of B.
This sounds like a better Off-Center coin it my be close to 5% off-center which is the minimum for value. If in high grade it's about $15.00. Anything less then mint would not carry any value.
1970 Lincoln penny, space bigger then other pennies between L and I in Liberty.
Sounds like a small defect, no extra value.
Can we send you pictures of coins?
Just host it on a free photo site like photobucket and drop a link.
nickels from 1960,1962,1964 with a D on the back to the right corner of the building between the bottom of building and the wall of the building. The D is outside the building and they can be seen with naked eye. On the front of coins, there is no number or mark between the inferior margin of coin and where the Jefferson profile ends. That space is smaller then other usual coins. They are older coins but Jefferson's figure is more higher than the new coins. You can feel it with the finger. Kind of cameo style but not so high.
Errors or normal? Any value? Thank you !
i have a 1944d penny in pretty good condition whats it worth and whats it worth to you i most likely not be able to get the answer so ima haveta leave you with my email its ****************@yahoo.com hopefully you get back to me it will be a lil bit till i get your message aswell but i will respond as soon as i can thank you sincerely yours "OUTLAW"
1944d penny in pretty good condition
About $0.05
nickels from
1960 about $0.05
1962 about $0.05
1964 D about $0.05
All are normal, nickels have been slightly modified since the 1960s. You have a good eye to see the difference but these were all on purpose and have no extra value.
I have a 1988 Lincoln cent. It is the ugliest I've ever seen. It has metal bumps (all over) ans some of them are broken, are like holes. Also it is missing a piece from margin. Would appreciate if you could take a look at the pictures and tell me what you think. Here are the links to the pictures with this cent (front and back)

Does it has any value or is pure and simple garbage? Thnks!
1967 Lincoln cent, his hair looks shorter than in other coins. Some double die in the letters?

1964 and 1966 Lincoln cents, both with double die I think. The letters " In god we tr..." are thicker than the others. The same with letters "ber" in Liberty.

Are they errors? Are they worth anything?
I hope I don't ask too many questions.Thank you!
1988 Lincoln cent. It is the ugliest I've ever seen. It has metal bumps (all over) ans some of them are broken, are like holes. Also it is missing a piece from margin.
It is environmental damage and has no value over 1 cent. Clad coins often suffer from this if buried, heated or exposed to acid rain.
1967 Lincoln cent, his hair looks shorter than in other coins. Some double die in the letters?
The hair is normal and
I can not see any doubling because of the blurry image.
1964 and 1966 Lincoln cents, both with double die I think. The letters " In god we tr..." are thicker than the others. The same with letters "ber" in Liberty.
Again the pictures are not clear but the thickness is only an indicator of a late stage die which is not special. Looks like machine doubling and not worth anything over a cent.
They are somewhat errors, especially the 1966 which shows late stage damage in the W of WE it maybe considered a die break. Although errors they hold no extra value since these are expected when dies become old.

What about the metal bumps all over Lincoln? They look like they were made when the coin is made. The broken ones look like wear. I looked everywhere for metal bumps in a coin but I can not find any answer. That's why I badder you again with this. Thank you.
Sorry about my typing errors in my last post, I was in a hurry.
1985 dime error.

1946 Lincoln cent. Pretty bad shape. The E on the back is stroked wrong. In front is strange too.

This is what happens with environmental damage. If you put it in the dirt outside for a couple of months his will happen.
What happens is the zinc at the core is reacting to water and exploding outwards. Bubbles form very easily on modern cents.
Google "bubbles on Lincoln cent" and you may find more.
The dime seems like a weak die maybe a minor broadstrike no extra value.
1946 cent it is just damaged copper is so soft that any hard pressure will alter the design.
hi i think i have the rare 1944 steel penny its like mixed silver and has copper leaking out from the sides its a 1944D i think vf-20 and it does stick to a magnet but only strong ones.
rare 1944 steel penny its like mixed silver and has copper leaking out from the sides its a 1944D i think vf-20 and it does stick to a magnet but only strong ones
Sounds like someone coated it with steel. It most likely is a fake but weigh it to make sure.
If it weighs 2.70 grams then you may have something good. Any other weight means either a fake or a rare error made from something else.
sorry me again if i did have the 1944 error steel penny how much do you think it'll be worth?
1944 error steel penny
Again there are two steel types.
One weighing 2.7 grams is about $45,000.00.
If real but made on wrong metal it's about $3,000.00.
