2003-A $2 Bill, D-A

Do you have a $2.00 bill and want to find out its value? Leave a comment

Three year since my last $2.00 note find. I guess with all the spring holidays happening at once that funny money is being used. The cashier told me that since there is no slot for $2 bills and since they are not rare she tries to pass it on before the store closes. She also hinted that some people refuse the note anticipating they might have issues using them.

Although the series says 2003 the actually printing was in 2006. All the 2003-A notes were printed in the three months from July-September in 2006. This is the second 2003-A note I got and like the other one it was issued to the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank. I thought I would get a New York federal bank. It is possible NY needed more notes and the Ohio Bank transferred the bills to NY. I say this because it was very crisp except for one slightly folded non-pointy corner.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 2 Dollars / United States
Year: 2003 A
Date Printed: September 2006
Printings: 19,200,000
Run: 3rd in the D12800001A - D19200000A group
Value: $3.50 in Almost Uncirculated (one that is very fine is just face)

Do you have a two dollar bill and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

91 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

The past month (March), I have gotten at least 6 2 dollar bills. Other than that, nothing extraordinary, except what I got today. I found a 1899 Indian Cent in my change!

--That is kind of cool, you can pick and choose the best.

1899 Indian Cent in my change!
--About $3.00 great find.

TL said...

Most of the Two Dollar Bills were from the 1995 series. The Indian Cent is also in great condition, there is just one little scratch, but that is it.

I have a question about a Virginia D minted state quarter. I got this a couple of weeks ago, and the sides are soft, and not rigid. The sides are also brown meaning that it is all copper. The word "Virginia" is completely smeared off, and the top parts of "United States of America" are gone. The pictures of the boat, George Washington, and other words look 3-D, and look to have a lot more texture.

I was wondering if this is an error coin, or just a coin with no extra value that has seen better days. Whatever it turns out to be, I am still keeping it just because it looks cool and different.

I would think this coin was heated outside the mint. Not an error. No extra value.

That said if you can post a picture online somewhere maybe set up a blogger blog just to put up pictures.

on Sunday. I've been meaning to post this but slow internet connection and busy schedule prevented me from uploading the pictures and in turn prevented me from posting this comment. Back to the note I was wondering what it is worth.

Nice one, I see some corner folds and stains but overall it is in great shape.

About $50.00 I know there are subtle varieties but Confederate notes are not something I see often.

I'd love to post pictures, but I don't have a camera or phone that can upload them online. .. I'm still looking for 2012 coins.

In this day and age a camera should be part of coin collectors equipment.

That said it is not absolutely necessary.

About $0.20 each even in mint state. Unfortunately most modern coins are common even in high grade, and yes 1958 is still modern.

TL said...

I'm surprised they aren't worth much, but 1958 really isn't that old. I wonder if a 1930 wheat penny in shiny red condition is worth.

Man said...

1930 wheat penny in shiny red condition is worth

In mint state about $6.00
In higher mint state like 65 about $20.00

That said they quickly go up in value if full steps.

I found a 1978 $2 bill(crisp) in one of my tellers drawers. It is hand signed by Francine Neff on the left side above the serial number. I've also got a 1996 $100 bill with mismatched serial numbers (AB15212726S on the left and AB15612726S on the right). Has a center fold. Any ideas on values?

Hey Man, Wow, now it makes sense!
I have a 1963 series $5 bill with Dillon as Secretary of the Treasury. It has red numbers, (A50180458A) and a red seal, condition in good, not mint. Any ideas of the value. Also I noticed from some of your posts that Dillon was listed as Sec of Treasury in 1935 and 1960's, is this unusual? Did he have a break in service? One more question. Any idea of the value of an 1863 two cent piece?

--That is incorrect he was there from 1/61-4/62 and again 1/63-3/65.

The reason he was on the 1935-G $1.00 bill is that was printed in 1961-1962.
The series year 1935 is not the same as date printed.

1863 two cent, no such thing recheck the date.

2003 $2.00 bills in sequence from I19375909A through I19376000A and I19482760A to 767A

Assuming crisp-uncirculated about $2.50 the fact they are in sequence does not add value.

Unless you see a bit of another bill the offset does not add value.

What year?

Anonymous said...

The year of the offset bill is 1976 and you can not see any markings of another bill. Only the front is offset too. Thanks again.

Hi, great info here and very educational. I've been getting a LOT of older money lately from the bank and from customers. Rolls of wheat pennies, rolls of silver quarters, many rolls of very old nickles, and heaps of older $2 and $1 bills. Here are a couple of the more interesting ones.

Conventional series was still used in uncut sheets for collectors until 2012.

It is possible yours was once in an uncut sheets including for you series.

This does not add value but some research is needed.

I have a 2003 series A $2 bill I was tipped as a small business owner today. The serial number is E 09151719 A , the federal reserve district number is 5, and the plate number on back is 31. I’ve checked the water mark and seal- so far seems legit! Let me know what you think. Has obviously been circulated shows more wear on generic center fold but has a slight fold across too. Other than that pretty crisp!
