Why do some countries decide not to put the name of their country on their currency?
Why do some countries decide not to put the name of their country on their currency?
Not sure sometimes like in Great Britain they use that abbreviated title:
D G REG F D
d.g.; dei gratia, "by the grace of God"
Reg; Regina - "queen"
f.d.; fid. def. - "defender of the faith"
Sometimes titles are more important than names.
Sometimes the American names are completely different than the country of origin (Magyar = Hungarian).
Thanks for clearing that up!
I have one
Magyar Köztársaság = Republic of Hungary
It is now changed to Magyarország (Hungary) and you can still use the old one too.
