1951 D Wheat Cent

Do you have a wheat cent and want to know its value? Leave a comment

Also got a 1957-D nickel but that one has been showcased before. Last time I got a wheat cent was right before Halloween. Then a few days before Valentine's Day and I get these at a pastry shop after buying some not so fresh donuts. Not sure if any of that is relevant but that is the story of this find.

Not really super special but it is a 61 year old wheat cent. The wheat cent is becoming more scarce in change thanks to roll hunter and copper hoarders but still you can find them.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 1 Cent / United States
Year: 1951-D
Mintage: 625,355,000
Metal: 95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc
Value: $0.10 in VF-20

Do you have a wheat cent and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

19 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

Tonight I finally found somethings worth sharing!

I have found 14 Eisenhower dollar coins,

4 Kennedy Half Dollars, 2 1964, 1 1965, and 1967.

3 Presidential Dollar Coins

2 steel 1943 pennies.

and 1 1996 silver? penny.

All of this, in one night of change. Could you tell me your thoughts and what the Half Dollars and Pennies are worth. Thanks!!

14 Eisenhower dollar coins just $1.00 each

4 Kennedy Half Dollars,
2 1964 about $12.25 each
1965 and 1967 about $5.00 each

3 Presidential Dollar Coins just $1.00 each

2 steel 1943 pennies about $0.30 each

1 1996 silver? penny.
--Needs to be weighed.

Congrats some great silver finds.

Wow, I'm surprised about the price of the half dollars. It'll be a nice addition to my collection.

For the 1996 silver penny, it's a penny with shiny silver color. It is in mint condition and it looks like it came from the mint and was made that way. THere is no place anywhere on the coin that shows someone painted it or dipped it in something.

I have found 4 plated coins that look the same. Plating adds a microscopically thin layer so the coin always looks perfect.

The fact is the mint does not make silver cents.

It needs to weighed because it can be another type of error.

I will try and get it weighed tomorrow. Is a regular balance ok?

As long as it is 0.01grams accurate.

A fake or magic coin, either way it is not possible as a real cent.

No extra value.

I am going to measure it tomorrow, since I have chemistry lab and can use the balance. I'll let you know the weight.,

since I have chemistry lab and can use the balance.

That was the only fun of chemistry. Lab day was the day we would have fun mixing things we weren't suppose to.

i have a 1951 s wheatback penny. it looks like your penny, but the back is almost flat.

Also on the front, the 1 is almost gone, like it is almost part of the face.

The oldest penny I have found is a 1910. I know it is in bad condition, but its still neat to have a penny over 100 years old!

--Very cool to have but it looks cleaned or environmental damage, about $0.05 but even in low grade it is just $0.35.

I found a 1930 wheat penny with 4 or five die cracks on the reverse and one on the obverse. Grade is F-12. Any value? THX

It depends a lot on eye appeal and how extreme are the cracks but about $0.50 if they look sharp.

Have a 2000 p SAC DOLLAR: the weight is 8.06 and the E in STATES is slightly different than the other E's. Every coin that I look at these days I find something abnormal. Is it me or the nature of the beast? In this case, is this coin counterfeit?

--Likely damage, slight changes in weight and design is normal when making millions of coins.

--Nature of the beast, while coins may look exactly the same each one can be slightly different.

I doubt this is counterfeit although it is possible. Fakes have many more errors.
