Just replying to questions I think most people should keep in mind when looking through your bills.
what does a star mean next to the serial number on a dollar bill?
A star means that some notes were damaged when made at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. To replace these notes the government uses notes with a star on them this way they don't have to replace notes with the same serial numbers. Less then 1% of notes are star notes.
how much is a 1950D $5 bill worth with a star next to the serial number?
It depends on the serial number and condition.
The I-* is at most $200.00 in crisp-uncirculated.
The K-* is at most $175.00 in crisp-uncirculated.
All others are at most $100.00 in crisp-uncirculated.
divide by ten if in less then perfect grade.
some of the new $10 bills also have the star?
Lots of the new bill have this and at first the were rare but now they are worth only a few dollars over face but the DH-* are the most sought after.
is there anything special about them?
Many collectors like them but they are sometimes overpriced. Those from St. Louis(H), Minneapolis(I), and Cleveland(D) are always key districts.

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 682 Newer› Newest»i have a 2001 series $1 bill with a star at the end. it is C03056519* what could it be worth? thanks susan
2001 $1 bill C03056519*
it is a common star note so it is worth about $4.00 in crisp-uncirculated.
I have a very crisp, verp clean Series 1957 A $1 Silver Certificate with the Serial # *34924115A. What could it be worth? I actually have a box full of interesting money from Roman coins to 1922 Phillippines Peso's US Treasury Certificates.
1957A $1 Silver Certificate
Serial # *34924115A Is about $12.00.
Roman coins I have no idea about ancient coins.
1922 Philippines Peso's US Treasury Certificates they average $10.00-$40.00 but some can be worth hundreds. Although I never heard of one from 1922.
Hello, I have a Canadian 1943 Key Tombac nickel, if you would be so kind, what is it's value.
P.S.
I think you have a very nice website here. Thank you for offering your talents to even a novice like myself.
Canadian 1943 Key Tombac nickel
This coin goes for $0.30 in fine and about $2.00 in uncirculated.
It is a common coin with 24,760,256 minted.
The true key is the Tombac 1944 so rare only one has been found sold for $38,500.
Thanks for the kind words.
i have a 10 dollar bill from 1934 with a green star on the end of the series number. its a B series, but undernearthe the washington d.c. letters it only says series of 1934, with no B next to it. i thought most of them do sicne i have other older ones with their series letter next to "series of 1934 A" for example. the serioes number is B00608271 with a star next to it isntead of a "B" for the series letter. i was wondering if you knew how much its worth? thank you, and sorry if this was hard to understand i dont have a picture of it currently.
10 dollar bill 1934 star note
serial #: B00608271*
Notes Printed: 795,826
Very Fine: $60.00
Choice-Crisp-Uncirculated: $300.00
It is the most common of the 1934 Dark Green Seal star notes but still a great note to own.
hallo, I have $1 bills series 1935 silver certificate

1935F series T49780897I
thanks Cvrcek
contact: cvrcek at rychlospojky.sk
$1 bills series 1935 silver certificate
1935C series E07878817E is $3.00
1935F series T49780897I is $3.00
Both values are for very fine and both bills are common.
I have four bills with stars on them and they are as follows:
1999 series $1 bill E09509405*
2003 series $1 bill L01119023*
2003 series $1 bill B10758931*
2001 series $20 bill CL02628714*, are any on these bills worth money? thanks, Eve.
1999 $1 bill E09509405* about $4.00.
2003 $1 bill L01119023* about $4.00.
2003 $1 bill B10758931* about $4.00.
2001 $20 bill CL02628714* about $36.00.
The prices are for crisp-uncirculated which means no folds, crisp, no smudges, and just about perfect.
While they currently hold little value above face now they are very collectible and retain higher values then normal bills over the years.
I have a series 1957 silver certificate dollar bill (not a star note). It has interesting serial numbers to say the least. They are different. The one on the left reads G55441785A and the one on the right reads G54441785A. It is in Good condition. Any idea of the value?
1957 $1 bill
The one on the left reads G55441785A the one on the right reads G54441785A
It is in Good condition.
You have a famous mismatched serial number which affects 1957 bills G55xxxxxA-G54xxxxxxA and U261xxxxxxA-U260xxxxxxxxA
In fine it is worth $75.00
in extra-fine it is $150.00.
Fine condition has many folds, smudges and minor tears.
Extra-fine means no more than three minor folds and clean looking.
Very cool bill, congratulations.
I have a 2001 $5 bill with a star serial number CL-----*. Crisp and very fine condition. Any idea on a value?
2001 $5 bill CL-----* in crisp-uncirculated it is valued at $15.00
I have a series 2001 $100 bill with a star at the end. It is CD01820635* what could it be worth?
P.S. I also have a series 1950 $10 bill. It is E94365040B what could it be worth? Thanks Sheena
2001 $100 bill CD01820635*
Only $110.00 in crisp-uncirculated.
1950 $10 bill E94365040B
Only $20.00 in crisp-uncirculated.
I recently picked up 100 one dollar bills that still have the paper band on them from the bank. They are new, in consecutive order and all have an error star in the serial number. Can you tell me if these are worth more than the 100 I paid for them. Thanks
100 one dollar star notes from bank.
Well depends on the date and serial number.
2003A F00000000* - F03200000* go for about $5.00 a piece.
2003 E0640001* - E06560000* go for about $50.00 a piece.
Each serial number & date commands a different price.
Once again the star note market is quick to lose value in new notes because of new reports like yours always coming in. Sell fast and high, if you wait long they lose value for a while.
i have a 1950 10 dollar bill d 02872236c b series is it worth more than face value?thank you jean
I have a $100 bill with the serial number AB15828680X. It is a series 1996. I work in a bank and see many bills but have never seen a serial number ending in an X. Do I have something of value on my hands?
1950 10 dollar bill d 02872236c
It is $12.00
$100 bill 1996 AB15828680X
Not rare or valuable at all. The AB(or New York) series from 1996 set a record because 2,325,600,000 were printed.
They went all the way to AB-Y. people collected AB-X,AB-Y, and AB-*. But they bring little extra value, maybe a few dollars over face.
Here is a guy who collected all of them for fun LINK.
I have a 1950 $20 star note. It is circulated, however has no tears and only one fold. Looks pretty clean. Any idea what it would be worth?
1950 $20 star note.
Depends on the exact serial number but in very-fine they start at$50.00. They go to up $150.00 for certain numbers.
i have a 2003 series $1 bill with a star at the end. it is G06863343*. what could it be worth? thanks
karen
2003 series $1 bill G06863343*
Those are quite common in crisp-uncirculated it is at most $2.50
I have a series 2003A $1 star note, serial K00339745*... Any value?
2003A $1, K00339745*
in crisp uncirculated it is $20.00, only 640,000 were made making it semi-rare.
Good find.
I have a 1963 red-sealed $5 bill in good condition. Serial number is *00296967 A. What could the value of this bill be?
1963 $5 bill in good condition. Serial number *00296967A
In good it is about $10.00.
Good is defined as having some tears, may be dirty or inked, and many folds.
Very fine it is about $20.00.
Very fine is defined as having no tears, only 4-5 heavy folds and little dirt.
Hello, I came accross a $20 bill that I got from the bank and noticed it had a star but what mostly caught my attention was the 500 at the end of the serial number but, I know nothing about this stuff and found this website on google.
SERIES 2001:
CL00831500*
L12
Quality: IT has been folded about 4 times not counting 3 of the corners and it has a permenant maker mark on the top right corner.
Somewhat well circulated I would think.
If it is worth any thing more than face value let me know please. cruid65@gmail.com
Thank you.
$20 bill SERIES 2001, CL00831500*
well circulated
Just $20.00 the problem being the marker stain and all the folds, a bill this new must be in near perfect condition to be worth anything above face.
You are right about the end 00. If the bill was in new condition it would bring in about $50.00 because of the 00 in front and the end.

G00000001*-G09600000* are common
G09600001*-G10240000* are rare
The government announces how many bills will be printed for each series. The second set of star notes printed was unexpected and less were printed making them more valuable to collectors.
2004 $20, EF00076251*
about $30.00 in uncirc.
I have a 1963A star note $1 dollar bill, is it worth anything? Serial # I00493281* Thanks, Howard

Are the bicentenial coins worth anything?

1952 Quarter? Seems light.
1950A $10 bill G21938148D?

1878 - 1882 Morgan dollars? 1879&1880 in best condition.
2000-2002 Proof sets?
Thanks I know there's alot. These are the only coins and currency I think may have value.
bicentennial coins are all common and usually not worth anything extra in less then perfect condition.
I'll give the values in very fine.

1949 Nickel about $0.30
1952 Quarter about $2.00

2002 about $45.00
Why is the 2001 worth so much more?
Why is the 2001 worth so much more?
Good question but I know of no good answer it is a collectors market and in 2001 maybe because of 9/11 that year is very sought after.
I know I'm kicking myself because I could have bought 5 sets and made a huge profit.
The silver of that year goes for $175.00.
Hi its me again. if ur wondering how im getting these notes. it cuz i work at a casino and i see alot of bills passing thourgh well anyways i have 3 star notes and i notices that there wasn't anyone posting a 100 dollar star note.

I worked in a supermarket in he past and I use to get the strangest and oldest coins. When I bought my first coin book I was slightly disappointed in there low values and then most collector or coin shops buy them at half the price listed.
All that said I still enjoy finding coin, star notes and others. Worse comes to worse they are still worth face value but in few years the price always rises.
One modern note to keep an eye out is the 1988A (FW) $1, F064000001*-F09600000* in uncirculated it is $1,000.00
does it have to be 1988A
Yes.

18 years ago you could get most of most bills for close to face value. Also recently thanks to eBay currency collectors are getting more specific with the serial numbers and paying premium for what they want.
That being said the market has dropped before and a bank is a pretty good investment.
I'll still collect no matter what the value because it is all still legal tender.
Good luck. That one odd error note or a 1928D $1 star note may pass your way and you would up $20,000.00.

A warning of sorts about star notes, they tend to be valued high at the beginning.
For example in 2003 the $1 star note for 2003 was $100.00 in crisp-uncirculated, today that note is $35.00. Value may go up to $100 but that might take years.
Just a warning not advice I still love getting star notes in my change.
I have a series 1934 $100 and $50 with the bright green ink are they worth anything in fine condiotion
fine condition
1934 $100 about $110.00
1934 $50 about $70.00
Because it is a low grade note and you didn't specify any serial numbers then I assumed the most common of that year.
i have a 1999 series $20 dollar bill with the BL00294765* i was wondering if you could tell me the value of it and where i could sell it? thatnks -kerry
1999 $20 bill, BL00294765*
About $25.00 in uncirculated.
As for selling it you may try eBay but I don't expect you to make a profit.
It is difficult to sell bills for profit if your not a life long collector. All the coin shop around me have closed and most of my eBay contacts have given up.
This is for everyone: Unless the coin/bill is worth about $1,000 don't bother selling. If your a good eBay seller or have a good rep then maybe you can sell stuff under $1,000.

Hello, I have an uncut sheet of 16 subject 1996 $20 star notes (AL*). The sheet is in perfect uncirculated condition. I received this as a gift and was wondering what the value was. I can't seem to find anyone selling this!

About $500.00 maybe $450.00. The ones dated before 1976 are the real collectibles.
They are sold by the US government...
Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
The new 2004A are selling for $409.00. Great gift though. I got the $2.00 sheet a few years ago..

hi
i have a 1934 $100.00 bill in fair condition. just curious if its worth anything. it says B04538805 A on it

It is about $115.00.
thank you for such a quick reply!
I have two 2003 $1 bills that look as though they were placed face to face an upside down before they were dry. They have the words and faces of eacothers on them upside down an off center. i imagine there were even more before I found them for there backs are smudged as well. Are these actually worth anything?
If it not an Offset or Transfer error with the numbers from the same bill not another bill. Then it is likely not a true error.
Using solvents you can easily duplicate what you described.
But if you believe this is a real error email a proffesional who may charge you to evaluate the notes.
PCGS or Fred Weinberg are good places to start.

I just found a $1 dollar - Silver Certificate series 1935 bill. Number A 08272593 A. Paper is crisp.Looks like it was folded once but it has been stuck in a plastic folder for about 15 years now. Worth keeping?
$1 bill 1935, A08272593A
It's worth about $7.00. It is the most common of the 1935 notes, but it's still worth keeping because it is also one of the first in the series.

We have a $50 bill with a star next to the serial number. We were told to keep it because the star meant it was worth more than $50. Is this true? How much more, if so?
Thank You. Dale
$50 bill with a star next to the serial number
Depends on the year, the serial number, and the condition. Generally it adds 25% above face value.

I have a Fine condition series 1950 C $10 dollar bill with the serial number A27471292C, how much is it worth? also does the position of the front of the bill affect the price? the bill i have is printed very close to the cut edge. Thanks
Fine condition series 1950 C $10 A27471292C close to the edge.
In fine about $11.00 it is the second most common note of the 1950C series. Because of this any minor imperfections such as faulty alignment or mis-cuttings does not bring any extra value a may actually lesson the value for some collectors.
sORRY LET ME REDO MY QUESTION
I HAVE A SERIES B 1950 TEN DOLLAR BILL SERIAL # G70587145E
MINT CONDITION AND VERY CRISP. IT'S ON A LITTLE THICKER PAPER THAN NORMAL MONEY
THANKS
1950-B TEN DOLLAR BILL SERIAL # G70587145E
MINT CONDITION AND VERY CRISP. IT'S ON A LITTLE THICKER PAPER THAN NORMAL MONEY
Crisp uncirculated is about $17.50 a note is sometimes designated Exceptional Paper Quality (EPQ) which means original and never cleaned, over time cleaning and restoring notes makes them thinner.
Also since paper money is made of cotton/linen the thickness will vary.
Either way it may bring the value to $45.00 or more if the thickness is significant.

Crisp is $65.00 anything less then crisp and just $50.00.
I was given a mint 1935F one dollar bill . If you would could you please get back to me with the possible value of this bill. Your response is greatly appreciated.
mint 1935F one dollar bill
Depends on the serial number but there are only 3 ranges so I'll list all 3.
For any star notes $15.00
For B71640001J - B72000000J about $450.00
For all other about $9.00
As you can tell there is one group that is highly valued for a reason that escapes me.
Good luck hope you have the lucky numbers.
Hi,
I have a mint (no creases, very crisp) 1934 $20 bill. Serial number B36531486
Do you have any idea of its worth?
Thanks!

mint (no creases, very crisp)
1934 $20 bill Serial # B36531486
You left out the last letter in the serial number but I got enough info.
If it is B36531486A then it is about $60.00.
If it is B36531486B then it is about $200.00.
Lets hope the last letter is a B.

As far as I know only 2003A had J-* and sine they are fairly new then they have a value of about $1.50, although I have seen them sell at $3.00 each when they first came out.
Star notes are generally worth more as time passes.

I have come across 5, 1950, $100 bills. 4 are series D, s# E11206493A, E11206500A, E10377628A and E10377638A. One just reads series 1950, s# E02886543A. All are still very crisp and still have excellent color. What could these be worth?
1950-D $100 bills crisp
E11206493A about $110.00
E11206500A about $110.00
E10377628A about $110.00
E10377638A about $110.00
1950
E02886543A about $110.00
for this one there are two varieties a mule green seal and a regular green seal.
Mule green seals have a back number of 112 or lower.
Regular green seals have a back number of 113 or higher.
For 1950 the regulars are worth more but for s# E-A it is the same price.
I have a few questions:
1) Is there any increased value for $1 bill from the 2004A Series?
2) Is there any increased value for $5 bill from the 2004A Series?
3) Have you seen where the for example the 6's in the four corners of a $1 bill, the one's on the right side are bold and the ones on the left side are not? Is this a big deal, I mean worth more?
Thanks for your help.
1) Is there any increased value for $1 bill from the 2004A Series?
No such note exists.
If you do have one it can't be real.
2) Is there any increased value for $5 bill from the 2004A Series?
No such note exists.
If you do have one it can't be real.
3) Have you seen where the for example the 6's in the four corners of a $1 bill, the one's on the right side are bold and the ones on the left side are not? Is this a big deal, I mean worth more?
Yes I heard of these but for now it doesn't bring any increase in value unless they are completely faded.
If any of these are star notes they will be worth 3 times face value in crisp.
If for some reason the $1 & $5 are real they would be worth a lot.
Im sorry, I was mistaken about the year on the $1 and $5 bills, they are from 2003A Series.
$1 and $5 bills, they are from 2003A Series
None are worth much over face and only when they are perfect.
Again if they are star notes the $1 bills start at $10.00 depending on serial number.
i have a 20 dollar star note
1990 I04544871*
20 dollar star note
1990 I04544871*
In crisp uncirculated it is about $40.00.
For that year only 5,120,000 I-* were printed but that is only the second lowest. The more desired one is the serial numbers for H-* because it only had 320,000 printed.
Nice find.
Hi i have a Dollar Blue seal and a dollar star note
1 Dollar B79603311G 1935D
1 Dollar F03610824* 2003
thanks
1 Dollar B79603311G 1935D
It is about $3.00 in very fine. This is known as the 1935D Wide. There is a 1935D Narrow serial # start at U-E they are worth $2,000.00. The only difference is slight gap between the word DOLLAR and the edge of the design.
Collectors are weird.
1 Dollar F03610824* 2003
It is about $1.50
im sorrie im don't get what you mean. about the U-E, can you explain alilo more?
Your bill is

if it was

it would be worth more.
Your bill is B-G.

G56293060*
how much is it worth thanks
2003 uncir 1 dollar bil it reads
G56293060*
Are you sure about the serial number and star?
The highest I know of is G10240000* these are worth about $17.50 but any the 2003A notes got as high as G57000000E and are worth only $1.00.
If you have something different then I'd need to see a picture because it could be worth a lot more.

I would need a year.
my bads its 2003Afor the B07880154* wats the differents in the series A or not
2003Afor the B07880154*
This is the most star for 2003A and worth about $2.50.
If the other is 2003 it is about $1.50.
The A means that the original 2003 design had a minor change. In this case a signature was changed from Rosario Marin to Anna Escobedo Cabral the new treasurer of the United States.
I have a 1934A (E69931297A) US $10.00 bill. Circulated Can you tell me how much it is worth?
...1934A (E69931297A) US $10.00 bill. Circulated...
About $11.00.
This is a good example of why serial numbers matters because if it was E19931297A then it would be $25.00 because it has different size check numbers on the back. That little difference doubles the value and the only way to know is by the serial number.

Hi i have another Dollar
K00158091* 2003A
and i was wondering how come the other one worth that much thanks
Dollar
K00158091* 2003A
About $10.00
The reason is because they are new and they should be in great condition plus it was a small print. Only 640,000 were printed compared to 364,800,000 of the series K-A--K-D.
A rarer one was the early B-* 2003A notes the first run was 320,000 and it is worth about one and half more than the star listed.
All in all about 1,280,000 K-star notes were made so the value may go down as the actual numbers come in.
The market for star notes goes high as the notes is released then drops. After 10-20 years it goes up again.
so where can i sell them?
That's the most difficult part.
You can try eBay.
A coin forum is a good place but you have to be there for a while.
Any coin shop will offer only two or three dollars at the most. Remember the value is the cost to replace/buy the bill from a dealer. Selling always gets you less money.
Bills/notes are harder to sell. Most people who don't collect just use the bills and never see a profit. It is why I never sell any coins on my site.
Good luck.

hahaha yeah its is a red seal but i also seen the blue seals. whats the differents in the color seals???. n how much would it been if it was a blue seal?
whats the differents in the color seals???. n how much would it been if it was a blue seal?
Red seals are United Stats Notes or Legal Tender Notes it was mandated by the Congress of 1878 to maintain an amount of currency backed by the government.
Blue seals are Silver Certificates that are backed by stockpiles of silver.
Both were discontinued by the mid-1960s yet they are still legal to use and will always have there face value, just not in silver.
If yours was a blue seal it would be about $10.00.
There is also a green, yellow and brown seal but not for 1953.
i have a 1776-1976 one dollar coin?
what is it worth and how much should it weigh
1776/2002 State Quarter from Tennessee that has
made it through without it's Nickel coating, you can tell this just by
comparing it to a normal quarter.
The question is, is there any additional value to a coin like this?
1776-1976 one dollar coin?
About $2.00 in extra-fine and weighs 22.68 grams in copper-clad.
About $16.00 if silver and weighs 24.59 grams.
1776/2002 State Quarter from Tennessee that has
made it through without it's Nickel coating, you can tell this just by..
It should weigh 5.67 grams if normal but less if it is a true error. This error is called a missing clad layer worth about $400.00 if one side is missing more if on both.

ive also notices that the new color tens dun have the year they were printed.

Since the number is low it would be about $30.00.
ive remember reading sumwhere on the net that people also collect bill with serials that reads forwards same as backwards for an example H01233210 is it worth sumthang? or is it just nonsences im reading on the net?
Yes that would be an example of a radar note or palindrome.
It adds on average about $5.00 to the note value depending on condition and digits in the note.
Meaning H00011000A is better than H01577510A.

Sounds like it was struck through grease or a weak strike either way it does not bring any extra value.

Offsetting on the watermark is really considered an error. It won't bring any extra as for the bill itself it is very common and would not bring anything over face.
Where can I sell it for $30?
Where can I sell it for $30?
Assuming it can be graded as crisp-uncirculated. Then get a good scan and sell it on eBay or join a currency forum and sell it there.
It won't be easy to sell these days because a flood of them have hit eBay for the holidays. So mostly the ones selling have been graded by professionals.

Hello Wow under my christmas tree for me layed a Americana Series Yesteryear Collection that consist of and 1900 Indian Head Penny, 1897 Liberty nickel, 1908 Barber half Dollar, 1906 Barber Quarter, and a 1946 Barber Dime. and i was wondering how much is it worth? thanks
Nice my Christmas coins are still on the delivery truck.
1900 Indian Head Penny about $2.00
1897 Liberty nickel about $4.00
1908 Barber half Dollar about $12.00
1906 Barber Quarter about $7.00
1906 Barber Dime about $2.50
I assumed the dime was 1906 not 1946. All in all it would be about $27.50. In the future if you decide to collect more on own avoid buying these sets as they tend to be overpriced. Ebay has better quality for cheaper prices.
Great gift hope the rest of the holiday season is equally fun.

1916 is still about $2.50
The dime, quarter, and half are made of 90% silver and 10% copper.
That is where most of the value comes from.
The nickel is 75% copper and 25% nickel.
The cent is 95% copper and 5% tin & zinc.
Not pure but still a high metal value as copper and silver prices go up these coins often double in value.
