2013 Lincoln Shield Cent

Have a cent and want to know its value? Leave a comment

Not bad it is nearly the end of March and I just found a 2013 cent. Reports of new coins circulating well are true.

I always remember an episode of Little House on the Prairie where the Pa Ingalls gave young Laura a shiny brand new penny for Christmas. She was so happy that he took time to get a new one not some tarnished piece.

Even if purchasing power diminished over the last century it still gives me a happy feeling to find a shiny new penny. Although I wonder how some modern child would react to getting a new penny for Christmas. Maybe a shiny dollar coin would be cool for a youngster.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 1 Cent  / United States
Year: 2013
Mintage: Not yet known.
Metal: 97.5% Zinc, 2.5% Copper
Value: $0.01 in EF-40

Do you have a cent and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

7 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

Hey keep these they are the new cent the us mint is no longer producing the lincon memorial cent so keep These and all lincon memorial pennies these are perfect for young coin collectors find a shiny one in ex of maby even proof condition and keep it in about 50 years they will be like early wheat pennies probably a bit longer 2010 s pieces are the rarest ones to find in circulation and any p years are only in proof sets so if you happen to find or buy one of those keep it also at the moment the mint pays 2 cents per coin produced so the mettle composition is soon to be changed making these rare early pennies with different composition to give to your child to hike the price up I have a box full of them that I plan to pass on they are for the most part proof and extra fine none uncerculated because I collect from circulation -sory for bad grammer

-sory for bad grammer

That is the least of the problems in your statement.

...in about 50 years they will be like early wheat pennies probably a bit longer...
--Doubtful seeing how coins from 50 years ago are barely $0.02 in circulated condition.

... any p years are only in proof sets...
--S coins are proof not P.

...composition is soon to be changed making these rare early pennies with different composition to give to your child to hike the price up...
--Again doubtful seeing how the Copper cent from pre-1983 are just $0.02. These coins will always be common.

... most part proof and extra fine none uncerculated because I collect from circulation...
--Proof coins are a technique to make coin not a coin grade.

And can proof pennies be made at other mints than s because some of the ones that I have look proof I can see my reflection in it if I shine a light on it it bounces and I think it's a proof it is from the Denver mint 2013 does it just look like that because of how new it is

Proofs can be made at any mint but in the last 50 years they have been made at San Fransisco.

There are no Denver 2013 proofs.

Proof-like or high quality coins are possible but they are not true proof unless they have a frosted relief and mirror background.

False article.

They even say so in the update: "...the author of this story has apparently issued a retraction to the story."

It would take a law approved by most of the American government branches. There are no laws being passed this year or for the next few years. Even if a law does pass it mat take several years after to make the law actually work.

If pennies go it will be in 2025 and that is just a guess.
