1962 Rhodesia and Nyasaland Penny

Have a Rhodesia and Nyasaland coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment

The older version of yesterday's featured coin from Rhodesia. Yet another short lived country barely over ten years old from 1953-1963 when they stopped issuing these coins. It is typical of a colonial coin. It is big, has a hole, and praises the queen more than the country itself.

I do like the two elephants on the front but I am not even sure if elephants are common in that part of Africa. The whole coin reminds me of the old colonial Africa that us older folks grew up reading about in geography class. When I grew up many African, Asian, and Eastern European countries were gaining independence and changing names. School books could never keep up.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 1 Penny / Rhodesia & Nyasaland
Year: 1962
Mintage: 6,000,000
Metal: Bronze
Value: $0.15 in VF

Do you have a coin from Rhodesia & Nyasaland and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

Sorry for the late response but if the coins are not proof or gold they all have low value.
