Good question there are 7 circulating varieties of 1909 cents listed.

Wheat cents have the big ONE CENT on the reverse and two wheat stalks surrounding it.

Indian Heads are
1909-$3.50 in good
1909S-$350.00 in good(S located below wreath.)

Wheat Cents are
1909 VDB-$4.50 in good(VDB on reverse at the bottom)

1909-$1.75 in good

i have got a circulated 1752 USA coin.

how much is it worth?

Man said...

1752 USA coin

Never heard of it. While the US didn't become the USA until 1776 many coins were minted prior to that with AMERICANA or had "States" on it.

I've seen the 1652 pine trees and the 1722 are famous. Any description would help.

1983 dime, normal front, blank back with what looks like grinding marks and a circular raised center.

Definitely altered and completely worthless. If it were a real error the back would be smooth or have a reverse image of the front.

Hi - I got some money out of the ATM, and I noticed that one of the $20 bills doesn't have the Treasury seal over the word "Twenty" on the right side of the front of the bill. (2004A )

Any idea of how much it's worth? It is circulated but in pretty good shape. A quick Google search revealed an identical bill on eBay currently going for $56.50 with 24 more hours to go until the auction closes.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170083965637&fromMakeTrack=true

Man said...

2004A $20 bill doesn't have the Treasury seal over the word "Twenty" on the right side of the front of the bill.

The book value is $75.00 in the condition you describe for a missing overprint on a twenty.

The seller you linked had a nice example but an awful picture, if you sell yours get better pictures it helps with the value.

I have a 1950 $100 bill s/n B24322449A that has no tears, stains or other marks and has no significant (to my untrained eye) folds, can you give me an idea of its value?

Man said...

1950 $100 bill B24322449A
sounds about-uncirculated, also sounds like a 1950-E if the s/n is right. It is the last of the 1950 series.

Which would have a value of about $250.00.

Anonymous said...

Thank you very much for your reply to my inquiry re: the 1950 $100 bill. I would hardly call it uncirculated and perhaps I could "iron" it a little if needed. Oh, yes it is a "SERIES 1950 E".

Where do I go to sell it?

Thank you,

Kevin in Eureka, CA

Man said...

Your best bet is eBay.

Any private collector would not bother with anything that is not uncirculated.

If there is a good coin shop in your area they may buy it for 75% of it's value. Some forums are also a good place to sell.

Anonymous said...

How much is 1944 silver penny? i searched online and i could not find about 1944 silver penny.

Man said...

1944 silver penny

The reason you can't find anything about it is that it doesn't really exist.

1944 cents are copper but since 1943 cents were zinc/steel some bad people have colored 1944 cents in silver.
That being said some errors do exist but they are rare. Some were struck on silver dime planchets.

If you think yours is real weigh it, photograph it, size it,and email an expert like Fred Weinberg or another error specialist. But weight is the most important.

how much is a 1963 nickel worth?

Anonymous said...

I have a 1956 quarter aginst other's it sounds like tin and very lite.

Man said...

1963 nickel just $0.05 unless it is perfect then it is $0.25.

1956 light quarter? It should weigh 6.25 grams.
Some were struck on nickel blanks and dime blanks. Weigh the coin and you should know. If it weighs 2.50 grams it was struck on a dime. If it weighs 5.00 grams it was struck on a nickel.

Man said...

1934, Bank of Boston "A", $100 dollar bill

1934 Boston $100 notes are about $120.00 in very fine the exception being any serial number between A02874576A-A02876991A, these are special and worth about double $240.00.

I assume the bill year is 1934 not 1934A or 1934B. It should say "SERIES OF 1934" with no letters beneath it.

Hi, I have a few bills to ask about.
First a 1934A Series Twenty Dollar Bill with Hawaii printed twice on the front and once across the back. It also has red serial numbers.

Second is a 1950 Series 50 Dollar Bill in pretty good condidtion with a few folds but no tears.

Also I have two One Dollar Silver Certificate, a Series 1935 D and 1935 A, along with some Series 1957s and 1957 Bs.

The last one is a 1963 A Series Twenty Dollar Bill which is in almost mint condidtion with one fold.

It should be a brown seal not red. At least $100.00 more depending on serial number.

One Dollar Silver Certificate
1935 D about $3.00

Entirely for the silver content, unless perfect they have little collectors value.

Yesterday, my wife showed me something interesting she held onto since many years because she found it was a bit weird.

It's a 1969 canadian 1 cent coin, in every point identical to a normal 1969 1 cent coin (Elizabeth II, maple twig design), except that it seems to be made out of nickel, like 5 or 10 cent coins. It seems to be in perfect mint condition.

I've tried to find information about this coin on numerous websites, but I haven't found anything about it.

Anyone have any idea where this coin come from, and how much it could possibly be worth?

Man said...

First thing is to weigh it to see what kind of error it is.

If it's a fake it should weigh 3.24 grams.
If it is something else then the weight may tell if it came from a nickel, dime, or foreign blank.

In such a high grade it's about $100.00 as for the guide mark it is an error but a very minor one. So I'm not sure if it will lower or raise the value.

That would depend on the collector but these days errors are very collectible.

Hi, I came accross a 1950 $10 bill. I was wondering where I can check the serial number to see what it is worth and what I should look for in terms of other markings or signs that could make a difference. Its not in great shape although its not falling apart either but you mentioned above that the serial number plays a big role so how to I find out?

Serial number: B50045782H

It says Series 1950 C to the right of Hamiltons picture.
Inside the NewYork Fed Reserve seal is a capital B
On the far bottom right it says A387
On the back it says 1756
It has four 2's at each corner and also an A on the left

Man said...

1950 $10 bill. I was wondering where I can check the serial number

You need to buy a currency book like the Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S. Paper Money.
Also checking on eBay for similar notes is could for pricing.

Serial number: B50045782H Series 1950 C

Your note is very common from the serial number the book says exactly 120,520,000 were printed.
From that and recent auctions your note has a value of about $12.50 in very-fine.

Anything less then very-fine is just face value.
