So many German Euro finds I have started tracking them using Google Sheets. They are all still common and have little value still here is my latest.

German euro cents are common from each of the five mints about 100 million were made. Hans Tietmeyer was former head of the Bundesbank and helped Germany convert to Euros, he recently passed away. Granted now some in Germany think if they leave the euro system they can turn the economy around.

2003-G Germany 2 Euro Cent

I am have a hard time tracking all the German coins that I blogged about. Generally I keep track of the most commonly found coins. For the last ten years I rarely found German coins but the last two years I found a bunch. I think I need to properly track them.

Again German tourists and their economy are the major reason that is the most popular euro coin in our change. None of these euros are rare or valuable but still there a many to collect since they have multiple mint marks.

2004-J Germany 2 Euro Cent

German coins have always been in the top five foreign coins I have found in my change. I guess it is the tourist and similar coin size and weight.

 
Despite the small face value they are still commonly used and circulate well.Not that I do not appreciate these coins but finding euros is getting a bit boring. Very few have any sort variety or error so they are basically all just face value.

2002-J Germany 10 Euro Cent

The second most common of all German 10 euro cents only the 2002-F is more common. Since 2004 these coins are only available in collector sets but I will still hope to find one in my change.

Got this as a penny which is a great deal even for a common coin. Still have not found any rare or special coins but Euros are still nice to get.

2010-D German 20 Euro Cent

One ding we are German...
Still finding German coins at the rate of about once a month. All have been Euros and all common.

This one is a 20 euro cent that is relatively common.I got it in a take a penny leave a penny tray along with a Belgium coin. Great shape but that nordic gold, like our U.S. dollar coins, is prone to fingerprint damage. Our natural oils permanently damages the new coins surface.

2007-G Germany Euro Cent

Tiny little cent to add to my German collection. This is the least common of the 2007 German euro cents, I mean it is still common at over 83 million.

German coins are holding steady as my third most common foreign coin find. All have been euro coins so I think they successfully purged all older coins from their change. Unlike the U.S. which can still legally use money from the 1860s most other countries must stop using old circulating money.

2002-A Germany 10 Euro Cent

Still finding a steady stream of German euro coins. Although I have seen more Brazilian tourists than German ones the Germans are more likely to use their coins for change.

Watching how tourist use money is very odd. A lot of them keep travel wallets strapped inside their underwear. In summer and winter that means soggy sweaty notes. Brazilians and Europeans do this the most. Asian and Arabic tourist use normal wallets but tend to throw money around like it was worthless.

One thing most tourist have in common is a dislike for coins. I have seen them refuse change even in large amounts. The American nickel and dime seems to confuse them the most. Since nickels are larger than dimes they often think they are worth more. Accidentally or purposefully using their native coins happens more often among Canadians and Europeans, seldom it happens with Arabic countries.

2010-J Germany 2 Euro Cent

My third most common foreign finds are German coins, all have been euro coins. One of few euro coins with mint marks it is a bit more fun to find these euros because they are usually not repeats.

Five mint marks to choose from and the coins are still being made so finding more is almost guaranteed. Since the are penny size they easily get mixed up in your change and with the exchange value you will end up making a profit. Well if you use them Europe instead of just filing them away like I do.

2008-A Germany Euro Cent

So Germany won the World Cup and all I got was this German euro cent. German fans were quite around here but they were plenty around. They celebrated by filling up bars and restaurants meaning lots of Geramn coins should be accidentally floating around.

The A means it was made at the Berlin mint which does make commemorative coins. It is possible to see a special soccer euro or other type of German coin or medal soon. Spain did the same years ago as did so many European countries who either host or win the World Cup.

2002-F German 5 Euro Cent

The most common of all German 5 euro cent coins is the 2002-F from the Stuttgart mint. Of that is the one I recently found in my change and probably the one you may find too.

They made so many five euro cent coins in 2002 that Germany did not mint any for 2003 and reduced the amounts every year since. 2002 will likely be the high point of euro coin minting as smaller denominations are being used less and less in Germany and other Euro-Zone countries.

2002-J Germany 2 Euro Cent

From the Hamburg mint, since it has J in front of the date, is this penny sized German euro. German euro coins are becoming my third most found foreign coin behind Canada and Great Britain.

I just realized that I have not found any pre-euro coins in years. The European Union did a great job in eliminating all their member countries original coinage. The 1980s and 1990s were great times for finding European coins but now I only see Euros.

Yes each country has their own euro design but it is not the same. Collecting euros gives you a coin with only one side different. It limits the design possibilities including shape, size, and metal. If the world ever achieved peace and harmony image how boring the global currency would be, assuming that money even matters a million years in the future.

2011-G German Euro Cent

The least common of the German 2011 euro cents. The G is from Karlsruhe mint and it usually produces the least amount of coins.

This one is very shiny and sharp. It looks almost proof but is scratched as if it been through a sorting machine.

2004-F Germany 2 Euro Cent

German euros have made a strong appearance back in my change. In the past I have averaged just one German coin in my change per year, this year so far I have received five. 

The domestic economy in Germany seems to be doing well meaning money is flowing and the locals are traveling. Expect to see more German money floating around in your change hopefully some will be pre-Euro.

2002-D Germany 10 Euro Cents

From the mint in Munich (D) this is one of last German Euro ten cent coins. Not sure why but they stopped issuing ten euro cents in 2004. Although the 2002 tens were minted in vast amounts.

The Brandenburg Gate is on the reverse and is a proud and sad symbol of a once divided and now united Germany. It is a very neat and proper coin I just wonder was it ever popular. I found very few of these in my change.

Finding this German coin was great although it was not really in my change. Instead I found it in a Coinstar machine rejection tray. Still counts for my collection but technically I have yet to find any foreign coin other than Canadians in my change include a recent 2001 cent that I will not showcase again.

2012 G German Euro Cent

Despite all the talk that the smaller Euro coins are not being used I managed to find in my change yesterday a one euro cent. Not just a small cent but from 2012. A brand new euro coin from Germany is not what expected after these stormy times in the city.

This is a tiny coin and the lack of sunshine in the morning forced me to use fluorescent kitchen light. The color is off because of the lighting and since winter is here getting good light will be tough.

From what I heard about Europe they do not use small coins like the 1 or 2 euro cent coins. At least Germany is still making them every year by the hundreds of millions. Although this is from the Karlsruhe mint, thus the G before the date, which is always the lowest minted. Some Euro countries round up and stopped using these coins. These coins are still issued to stop the rampant overcharging Europeans were predicted to do if these small coins did not exist.

The most common German 20 Euro Cent from 2003-2011 is?

That is right this 2003-F and it is no surprise that I have one. When collecting from change or buying coin lots expect to get the most common of any type of coin. It is a numbers game and the larger the mintage the better chance to find any particular coin.

This edge notched coin is so shiny and golden that is was difficult to capture on this partially cloudy day. The Brandenburg Gate really stands out, as well as the map on the front.

Euro coins have been more difficult to come by, I am assuming since they have been out performing the U.S. dollar and most other currencies that their owners are not just letting them go.

Note to the right of the 2002 date is a D. The D is the mintmark of  Munich. Other modern German mintmarks are A (Berlin), F (Stuttgart), G (Karlsruhe), and J (Hamburg). The G mintmark is usually the least common but still not rare enough to raise the value above normal.

Most Euro coinage I get comes from friends and family who give them to me. Many of them are European or travel to Europe so often that the coins are no longer special to them. One kind family member recently gave me these 5 Euros...

The Euros pictured here are the 1 Euro cent, the 2 Euro cents, the 5 Euro cents and two 10 Euro cents. There are also a .20, .50, 1.00 & 2.00 Euro coin piece. Euro coins and banknotes(currency) came into circulation on January 1, 2002. There were 12 Euro countries now there are 15 but other places make Euro or Euro-looking coins.

Look at the reverse of the coin to find out their country of origin, the fronts are usually all the same.

The prices on Euros varies from country to country and year to year because after large mint productions in the early years. Later years were minted in smaller quantities making them more valuable. Other years are not yet released to the public making accidentally finding one rare for the moment.

Of the original 96 Euros I've found, or was given, 22 different types and many repeats. From Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Spain.
