7th Anniversary

It only seems like a year ago that I was posting my sixth year as a blogger, oh how time flies.

Copper or Wool Anniversary

I got the copper coins but the best thing I can say about wool is never use wool to clean coins. The picture below shows all my 2005 copper plated cents on a wool scarf.

Coined For Money Blog

The past year so saw some changes to ye olde blog. It is now a daily blog because I realized I have way too many coins sitting around. On the same note I found out I have thousands of coins with an average value of about $0.15 each. Kind of made me sad.

Some better news is that it took me six years to reach one million hits but I got over half a million in this past year alone. So thank you to all the new visitors.

Back to sad news. I had to get rid of embedded comments because the new Blogger comment system added reply and eliminated the quick view for comments that reach into the thousands. So in my popular posts it would take 30+ minutes to load the newest comments. I had to revert to the old comment system.

Also a mixture of happiness and sadness with my posts. I opened the "vaults" to showcase my past finds. Unfortunately I did this because the new finds have slowed down a lot.

Looking into the future

I hope to keep blogging and maybe add videos. More coin experiments would be nice and maybe another layout change. Aside from that I am open to suggestions but I am realistic, working, and social so not too complicated tips please.

I thank you all and keep those questions coming

HELLO MAN,
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 7TH ANNIVERSARY. YOU ASKED FOR SUGGESTIONS AND I WOULD LIKE TO SAY TRYING TO FIND WHERE TO WRITE TO YOU ON THE SITE WAS DIFFICULT. I WROTE ONCE BEFORE AND DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEM. IT IS ALMOST 2:00 A.M. SO PERHAPS I REQUIRE A FLASHING BEACON.
ANYWAY I HAVE QUITE A TASK AHEAD OF ME WITH A BOX OF COINS AND LITTLE KNOWLEDGE I AM THRILLED I FOUND YOU TO HELP! FIRST OF MANY QUESTIONS. I HAVE A 2007 PENNY AND THE FIRST O HAS A TINY O ABOVE AND BELOW IT. ANGLED FAINTLY UNDER THE 2 ARE TWO LINES THAT LOOK LIKE ONES. THE TOP ONE IS EASIER TO SEE WITH THE LOOP. THEY DO EXTEND TO THE JACKET.ON THE LEFT SIDE AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE JACKET ALMOST ON THE INSIDE OF THE RIM IT LOOKS LIKE VDB. I BELIEVE THIS WAS A DESIGNER AND THESE INITIALS SHOW ON A 1909 WHICH I DON'T HAVE. IN THIS BOX I RECEIVED I BELIEVE THERE ARE ALOT OF INTERESTING AND MAYBE SOME VALUABLE COINS. ANOTHER TIME ON THOSE. SO I AM SURE YOU CAN SET ME STRAIGHT ON THIS PENNY.
THANKS FOR BEING HERE FOR EVERYONE.

--Thanks

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY TRYING TO FIND WHERE TO WRITE TO YOU ON THE SITE WAS DIFFICULT.
--Maybe I will adjust that.

--Unfortunately I do not understand what you are describing.
Try posting a good picture online and copy & pasting it here.

It kind of sounds like Doubled Die so you may want to Google that to confirm.

OH MY HOW DID MY QUESTION GET ALL OVER WHERE IT SHOULD NOT BE?
--Again I have no idea what you mean.

I checked a 2nd computer and my phone and the page looks normal, I suspect it is your computer but if anyone else is seeing odd thing please let me know.

I used Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) and saw that the LinkWithin pictures were under the comments section.

It is not you but IE9 that is not reading it correctly, when I refresh the page it does render correctly.

I changed the position of the LinkWithin widget and that seems to fix the problem although at first render it appears under the comments but then self corrects.

Thank you for making me aware of the problem if please speak up if you see more.

Congratulations Man on your 7th anniversary! Despite only reading your blog for the last 2 years, and intensifying my reading of your blog only in the last few months, I've always enjoyed this blog; my home away from real life!

On a side note, my father-in-law went on a few trips this year, Croatia, Lithuania, Latvia, Finland and Estonia, and he gave me about $50 worth of pocket change from the aforementioned countries! Now I've got some stuff to work with and add to the collection! Not really happy about the fact that Latvia and Lithuania will soon lose their current coinage in favor for the Euro, but regardless, there will be something new to collect soon.

Collecting Euros is a bit hard, especially finding good specimens (in AU/BU/UNC). You know of any place that has any legitimate traders? Maybe you could add a link to trader websites. Anyways, hopefully someday you'll get recognized by a numismatic publisher and get awarded for best coin blog!

Best of luck to your future blogging endeavors, and to your success in collecting coins and paper money!

Guy who dumps canadian coins into US circulation!

--Well the way the Euro is going maybe it will be only temporary

--It has been a while since I participated but I always liked the traders at...
http://forums.collectors.com/
http://www.cointalk.com/forum.php
http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/

It may take a little searching and reading but they usually have list of traders and sellers.

Also thanks for the kind words.

Congrats, my only suggestion would be more paper currency posts! I like those a lot. Along the lines of coins though, what kind of value for VF 1952D cent?

Thanks for the kind words.

I will probably stick to more of the same. I have these images in my head of the site should be but never enough time to do it.

--Yes, I know most of my questions is about currency but I rarely save them. It is easier to save a cent or nickel then a $20 bill.
But as you saw with the $100 bill I am trying.

VF 1952D cent about $0.10

Congratulations, my friend. I love reading your posts, even when I don't have a comment or question. I find your subtle humor and infinite knowledge very pleasing. Keep it up!

Congratulations, my friend...

Thanks for the kind words, I suspect if anyone throws pennies at me on the street they are just celebrating this copper anniversary.
