1977 Liberia 10 Cents

Have a Liberia coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment

One of two Liberian coins I have probably from a coin lot I bought at Eastern Numismatics back when they use to send catalogs and offered one pound lots for less than $20.00. As far as I know they stopped that offer.

Liberian coins were not made in large numbers yet they hold no extra value. 1976 proofs numbered 2,131 yet you can get each for about $2.00. The lack of interest outweighs the scarcity. Add to that most survived in high grades and you have the reason for low prices.

The Republic of Liberia was founded by former American slaves and they share a common history with America. Flag and coin designs were heavily inspired by former Americans who moved to that land.

Here's the stats for the coin...
Type/Country: 10 Cents / Liberia
Year: 1977
Mintage: Unknown
Metal: Copper-Nickel
Value: $0.15 in Very-Fine

Do you have a Liberian coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

8 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

My local coin shop sells 1 lb. bags fro $8.95. This seems low compared to the price you stated in your post.

Nice.

In my case they started at $9.00 per pound then $12 then $14 then it disappeared. This was with shipping and handling and it had proof coins and silver coins so I knew I was getting a good deal.

I found a coin that looks like this,http://www.ebay.com/itm/SHRINERS-COIN-TOKEN-Vintage-AAONMS-Made-A-Noble-1948-Bektask-Temple-Member-/370602753205?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5649a53cb5 ... but it's not silver, and there's no place or date on the back.

These are Shriner's token and were blank, the date would have been carved at each temple by hand.

The generally have a value of $4.00 or less. Unless they can be tied to a famous person.

They are common despite the overvalued ones on eBay.

Got this: http://img833.imageshack.us/slideshow/webplayer.php?id=002jkp.jpg as a gift. Since I'm not as familiar with bills as I am with coins I figured it would be safest to ask what it's worth.

Got this:...

It looks like 1995 $2.00 bill in low grade.

Just $2.00

Even in high grade 153,600,000 were printed so they have no real extra value.

Thank you. My friend got a bunch of coins and tokens at a lawn sale, and gave them to me. I also got a 1957 B silver certificate, 1887 Canadian penny, a couple foreign coins that I have no idea what they are, a Woodrow Wilson presidential token and a collectible car token.
