$20 Dollar Bill Error?

Do you have note or currency and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

Hello

I was wanting to find out if you would be able to help me
I have 8 consecutive 20 dollar bills without the little 20 printed on the back of any of them
I have enclosed a picture of the front of one and the back of another
would you be able to tell me what they are worth
any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank You
Belinda

Error 20'S

Wow she linked pictures and everything.
And if you thought that would simplify it you were wrong.

This was beyond my knowledge, beyond my Web search, even beyond my books. So I looked into my network of collectors who also never saw this error.

The small yellow "20"s on the back is an anti-copying security feature,
--Check for the nylon thread on the front to the left of the left side-dark seal.
--Check for the watermark of Jackson's head on the front to the right of the right-sided green seal.
--Hold the bill in front of a light to see the hidden features.

If they are not there then you have counterfeit bills. Which also has value.

If they are there then the bills are real and according to my source each bill is worth $200.00 for a total of $1,600.00. (This is only an educated guess since yours are the first reported.)

Thanks for the visit Belinda and sorry for the long delay but it is a new bill and a strange error.

If I have more updates or find them on eBay I'll post a link but I'd try to sell half of them to a local dealer before more are found.

Here is a cool error that sold on eBay for $10,100 in May 2003 and now sold at $25,300.
It's called the "banana note" and has a Del Monte sticker that fell on it midway during printing and was not caught and destroyed.

Do you have note or currency and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

1757 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

I have a series 1996 $20 miscut bill. The number on the top left is AA46517652C and overlaps on the top left border and "20" sign. The top of the note has a 1/4" offwhite border and the bottom does not have any border. The cut is made so that the name "Jackson" is at the bottom of the note. I can see the Jackson face watermarks when held up to the light. Any worth to this $20?

This is a Faulty Alignment Error, about $30.00.
Unless a big portion of the design is cut off or if you see a bit of another design in the white portion...if so it is worth more.

This is all normal, these are just security features.
Blue Star for color this way it is harder to print out fakes.
Holographic 50 is the same it is made so that no one can easily scan and print this note.

No extra value in circulated condition.

The picture is not sharp but from what I understand to reduce errors the M and W are the same dimensions so what you have is normal and has no extra value, sorry.

Only the 1957 1 dollar notes had about 2 dozen inverted M error.
None have been seen since and then the M and W were made to look identical.

If it is some kind of Ink Error it would add $15.00 if minor.
It depends a lot on eye appeal so hard to say without seeing it.

Hello! I have a 1934 20 dollar bill with a green seal, and no star, so I believe it would be the most common 20 dollar bill of the time? but it is in neat mint and maybe even uncirculated condition, its never been folded and has no tears or creases, not faded either, and looks great, so I'am wondering what its worth to be honest, thanks!

I have a 1996 20$ bill that is fine i think on the front, but on the back it looks like 1/4 of the left has the correct back print and also the front print of another 20$ bill. I called the US Mint and was told that that was and error and should have never left the mint. This came from the ATM at my bank. Serial # AJ63771771 A also there is no water marks at all not sure if that was done in 1996.
Do you know if it is worth anything other than face value? my email is jvnoles@wildblue.net

These are listed as sold in partial uncut sheets for collectors. Meaning they were sold in 4 or 8 notes on one sheet. It seems that someone cut this sheet up to make it look like an error.

Although it is still possible to be a true error it would be about $300.00.

I can not confirm it so try asking at this great paper money site...
http://www.uspapermoney.info/

Ask if they only sold them as uncut sheets.

Partial Offset printing is about $50.00 but the other errors you describe are suspicious. I suspect some kind of fake or it may have multiple errors.

If you can post online somewhere and drop a link here I can be more accurate.

If you mean on the exact edge of the note it's a minor Faulty Alignment error at about $30.00.

If it is on the design itself it may be a partial Offset printing at about $25.00.

Finally it good just be a partial bank stamp no extra value.

Maybe post a picture on your blog and I can see what it really is, if not it sounds minor so no big loss.

As far as I know this is impossible.

If you still think it is genuine then only an expert can verify in hand.
If real it is unique and worth thousands.

I am kicking my self for not keeping the 2 bills that surounded this bill when I withdrew it from the atm cause I am almost sure they would have been sequential and added to the value.

It sounds right, often slight misalignment causes ink problems.
That said it has no extra value, even in near perfect grades it may bring $15.00 above face but this is too common.

Slightly off-center does not add value, just $20.00.

There is a small, very faint amount of priting on the bottom portion of the back side, approx 1/4 inch tall. I took the bill to a pawn shop, he stated the bill was worth about $120, offered $50 and then very quickly revised his offer to $60. He wanted the dollar too badly for me to let it go for 460 without trying to figure out some more information about its value.

This is an Insufficient Ink error about $250.00 in that condition, although you describe it as perfect I see a center fold mark.

Some problems with this auction is the bill must be graded to get full value.
Your pictures are not big or clear enough.
Condition appears to be different than described.
Plus you have 0 other sales.
Bills can be bleached to get fake-errors close images should be included.

While this bill maybe be real it will be difficult to get the best value.

This is normal for older notes, that motto was added after 1957.

Yeah typical Ink Solvent error is $15 but it can also be damage with no extra value.

These are not collectible because it would cost $40 to verify and can be done at home as fraud.

This is tough, this is a Faulty Alignment error but very minor so it has no extra value and may actually lower value.

Faulty Alignment error if the serial number is under 96000000, it's about $250.00

If you had all 3 it wuld be about $1,500.

No such bank.

This is some type over stamp placed between 1955-1969. There are rumors it was done in protest in 1969 but nothing confirmed.
Since anyone can make these stamps they have little collectors value.

PCGS did grade a handful but with no notes just grades.
These sell for $10-$15.

I have a twenty dollar bill that i got from Chase bank. It is a series 2006 bill and it looks like a normal bill except for one thing. Exactly half of it is blue. The front of the bill is blue on the right half. And the back of the bill is dark blue on the left half. It doesn't look like someone tampered with the bill and colored the bill as the small yellow "20"s are perfectly fine and aren't covered by the blue dye. Is this worth anything? I attached two pics. I apologize for the quality as this is a webcam shot and i dont have my camera with me but it should be good enough to give you an idea of what im talking about. I would scan it but my printer refuses to scan the bill and says that it cannot scan or copy currency. I apologize for the picture quality.

Unfortunately the image is not good enough for an exact answer.

There are 2 possibilities.
--Bank Ink the type that explodes during robberies. It often spills and leaves blue ink on the unprinted part of the notes explaining why the yellow is untouched.
No extra value.

--Ink Smear error but this has never been seen with these modern colored notes. Were it real about $200 but again according to all research it's not likely. And it would be only on one side.

I suspect bank ink damage, but if you can cover the ends with paper and just scan the middle where the blue ink meets normal paper.

--About $5.00 depending on year.

Any ideal as to the price and how to tell if it's a fake?
--It should weigh about 3.60grams.
It should not be magnetic.
It should not have a yellow tinge.
Details should no be weak, blurred, or round.
Look out for round metal gobs or blobs which suggest modern fake.
