$20 Dollar Bill Error?

Do you have note or currency and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

Hello

I was wanting to find out if you would be able to help me
I have 8 consecutive 20 dollar bills without the little 20 printed on the back of any of them
I have enclosed a picture of the front of one and the back of another
would you be able to tell me what they are worth
any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank You
Belinda

Error 20'S

Wow she linked pictures and everything.
And if you thought that would simplify it you were wrong.

This was beyond my knowledge, beyond my Web search, even beyond my books. So I looked into my network of collectors who also never saw this error.

The small yellow "20"s on the back is an anti-copying security feature,
--Check for the nylon thread on the front to the left of the left side-dark seal.
--Check for the watermark of Jackson's head on the front to the right of the right-sided green seal.
--Hold the bill in front of a light to see the hidden features.

If they are not there then you have counterfeit bills. Which also has value.

If they are there then the bills are real and according to my source each bill is worth $200.00 for a total of $1,600.00. (This is only an educated guess since yours are the first reported.)

Thanks for the visit Belinda and sorry for the long delay but it is a new bill and a strange error.

If I have more updates or find them on eBay I'll post a link but I'd try to sell half of them to a local dealer before more are found.

Here is a cool error that sold on eBay for $10,100 in May 2003 and now sold at $25,300.
It's called the "banana note" and has a Del Monte sticker that fell on it midway during printing and was not caught and destroyed.

Do you have note or currency and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

In the early 1980's, my wife received an unusual $20 bill from an ATM. She placed it in an envelope in a lockbox, and it was never in circulation that we know of:
It is a series 1981 $20 bill. The front and back are printed regularly. However, on the front of it is also a reverse image, in very good detail, of the back of (another) $20 note.
We were just wondering what this type of bill would be worth.
Thanks for your help.

True the first Series 1996 $20 bill was released in June 1998 and the last was issued September 2001.

The series 1996 is when the design was approved this is normal.
Series 1999 wasn't used until 2000.

When a series is made it takes months to get circulated with a huge redesign like the 1996 it took almost 2 years from approval to implementation.

That particular note had a fairly low run of 640,000 plus I assumed it was crisp-uncirculated since it is very new.

All the other star notes listed have a high run of 3,200,000 or higher.

Not all star notes are considered scarce, lately most are common.

I got a dollar bill from the bank yesterday (2006 F26057264G) which has the federal reserve seal printed on the right side of the bill between George and green treasury seal (slightly overlapping the green seal). Unfortunately, there are slight traces of the original federal reserve seal still on the left hand side where someone clearly tried to remove the seal and the paper looks thin. Is the misplaced seal likely a counterfeit added later, or has someone damaged a bill with an interesting error? Marc

That sounds like fraud, it is possible that the error was real and the original seal was struck through something at the time of printing causing a weird accident.

But your instincts are most likely correct and this is some type of fake. Maybe look under a microscope or have a coin shop confirm the misplaced seal is fake.

I recently found this coin (1944 nickel) in some change I received. I was just curious about it and its value.

It is "five centavos". It says on the same side "Filipinas". On the flip side it has "United States of America" and dated 1944.

I didn't know these existed. I am curious more about the history of the coin, but also would also appreciate knowing the value.

In 1899 the U.S. acquired the Philippines and by 1903 they started making coins for them.
By 1935 they became a commonwealth and by WWII the U.S. took out all the silver and made coins for them in copper-nickel-zinc.

By 1946 the Philippines became independent and no more U.S. coins.
It is about $0.50

It is not where they are printed but the district they are distributed from that sometimes determine value.

All green seal notes have the federal reserve bank district seal printed on them.

But what determines value is serial number because it depends on how many were printed for rarity.

I have a 1934 series C $20.00 bill, serial number A46918313A. I'm pretty sure it is not worth more that face value, it's in pretty good shape with a fold down the middle. I was curious what the value might be and also if you know what the small numbers mean on the back lower right of the bill. Mine says 598.

About $22.50
The back number is the plate number it means this was the 598th plate made and also according to records it is one of the new plates for that series.

No the C indicates it has been modified since the last 1969 series note.

The serial number is just that after going through all the numbers the start again except they use the next letter at the end.

These two letters are not related.

I have a Series 1974 $10 bill that has a strip about 1/2" wide printed down the front left side of the bill. The overprint is from the rear of the bill, mirror image and is green of course-printed over the otherwise correct front. The rear and front are both intact except for this little extra. The best feature of this bill is it's crispness. I obtained it in change at a bank when it was (assumably) brand new in about 1974. It has remained in a plastic paper money holder ever since. No folds, lines, or any type cosmetic unpleasantries at all. Wondering what a retail and/or wholesale value might be? Thank you for your opinion.

The high serial number indicates this was originally an uncut sheet. Uncut sheet are sold to collector in sheets of 4, 16, or 32.

Someone bought this sheet and purposefully cut it to look like an error. Unfortunately it is a fake error but a real star note that is scarce.

I have to do a bit more research but it would about $40.00.

These came from an uncut sheet some must of cut them and used them.

They come in 4, 16, or 32 notes on one giant uncut sheet. The serial numbers follow a pattern but not stacked instead the entire sheet are stacked.
So if you had the full sheet on top of another full sheet the numbers would be in order.

These notes are about $2.50 or less each although there damaged since someone cut them at home.

You can take them to a local bank and ask them to run test if they're real. Make sure they test only one and if they use the marker make it a small mark in a less obvious place.

Each is about $30.00 if real, if fake they have no value.
