My last eBay purchase was this nice Morgan dollar. I bought for $23.50 plus shipping and handling. The coin is raw but marked MS-65.
MS-65 in a Morgan Dollar is described by having only light, scattered contact marks that are not distracting and strong luster with good eye appeal.
MS-64, which is what I believe this one is can be described by having a few scattered contact marks, good eye appeal and attractive luster.
This may fall into the MS-65 category but Morgan dollars are one of the most graded coin and submitting it professional would probably bring it in at MS-64.
Maybe one day I'll submit it to PCGS but not now.
Here's the stat for this coin...
Type: 1 Dollar-Morgan Dollar
Year: 1886
Mintage: 19,963,000
Metal: 90% silver, 10% copper
Value: $80.00 in MS-64 or $175.00 in MS-65
Price updated for 2012 and value went down $30.00 and $25.00 respectively since 2006.

I have a similar coin but it is a 1921. It looks the same and it is in pretty good shape I think. How much would that be worth?
1921 in MS-64 is $50.00. The 1921 Morgan is the most common of all Morgan dollars.
Still a great coin.
I have 20 1886 Morgan Dollars. Are they worth more since i have a lot of them it good condition? Who would i find that would accually want to buy them???
They average about $25.00 each. You can try eBay which is where I bought my 1886 in raw form for $23.50.
If you think yours are in mint state you may want to go to PCGS and pay for a professional grade and sell them for $100+ on eBay.
You can join a coin forum and sell them to a member or ask them for an opinion on the grade.
Last is go to coin shop and sell them for 90% of their assumed value.
I have a Morgan Dollar of 1884.. How much do you think it's worth?
Morgan Dollar of 1884
About $20.00 in very fine.
i have a 1885 Morgan Dolar that looks as good as your 1886. what would it be worth?
i also have one from 1900, and when i looked at the back of it closer, above the word dollar is an o is it worth anything???
1885 Morgan Dolar that looks as good as your 1886. what would it be worth?
I'll give it for 2 possible mint states.
MS-64 about $75.00
MS-65 about $200.00
Notice the big jump for 1 point.
Only a grading service can give you an accurate grade.
1900, and when i looked at the back of it closer, above the word dollar is an o
This is the mintmark for the New Orleans mint, which no longer operates.
It is common.
I'll give it for 2 possible mint states.
MS-64 about $75.00
MS-65 about $250.00
There is a variety that has O over CC but it is rare.
I have an 1886 half dollar that looks identical to the one posted on your page. It appears to have been circulated but is in great condition. Any way to estimate it's value?
I also have a 1923 dollar coin, a bicentennial dollar coin with Eisenhower on it. My email in *****@hope-link.org
1886 half dollar that looks identical to the one posted on your page. It appears to have been circulated but is in great condition. Any way to estimate it's value?
Yes I wrote...
Value: $70.00 in MS-64 or $200.00 in MS-65
It is still a valid price.
If you want they sell Photograding books to really compare yours to the standards.
1923 dollar coin
About $12.00
bicentennial dollar coin with Eisenhower
About $2.00
About $16.00 if silver.
Hi there. I have 5 Morgans. I would greatly appreciate your opinion of their values.
1.1880 Philadelphia mint
2.1883 New Orleans mint
3.1884 New Orleans
4.1889 Philly
5.1890 Philly
I'll assume about uncirculated (AU-50).
1880 P about $30.00
1883 O about $30.00
1884 O about $30.00
1889 P about $30.00
1890 P about $35.00
None are rare or key dates, still with the price of silver climbing if they are higher grades you may fetch more.
I have a 1886 morgan silver dollar in great condition on the back with the eagle at the bottom above one dollar appears an o does that make it worth more...the $ 200.00 range
1886 morgan silver dollar in great condition on the back with the eagle at the bottom above one dollar appears an o does that make it worth more...the $ 200.00 range
Yes.
An 1886-O Morgan dollar in
MS-60 is about $750.00
MS-60 is described by having no trace of wear, full mint luster and few noticeable marks.
Above MS-60 the coin really gains value into the thousands of dollars.
I have a set of CC GSA 1880-1885 Silver Eagle Dollars (six consecutive uncirculated) Need worth as set?
set of CC GSA 1880-1885 Silver Eagle Dollars (six consecutive uncirculated)
About $2,375.00 for the set assuming MS-60(mint state).
If you get each one graded and sold separately this value may increase ten times.
These are Morgan dollars not Silver Eagles. There are some fake silver eagles dollars dated form the 1880s and are often mistaken with the real deal.
How do you know if it's an O or a P?
How do you know if it's an O or a P?
Look on the reverse below the wreath above the DO of DOLLAR.
If it is blank that is a P.
If not the letters could be O, CC, S, or D.
hi i have a 1900 dollar coin with "o" above the DO...the problem is that it is quite beaten up...the liberty head is kinda flattened out to the point where the eyes are not very legible...any idea how much it is worth?? appreciate your time an response...

Hi. A friend of mine has an 1885 Morgan Dollar with the letter G in the middle of the eagle. Can't find out anything about it. Do you know why that letter is on the eagle and does it have value?
Thanks
1885 Morgan Dollar with the letter G in the middle of the eagle
That would be a counterstamp used by someone in the distant past to certify ownership or that it was real.
Today it's considered damage and drop the coin's value to about $8.72 for the silver.

one dollar 1884 with the o on it. This one looks cleaner, but it worn.
It sounds cleaned which makes it just $10.00.
one dollar 1889 with out an o. This one is darker, but not nearly as worn at sll.
About $25.00.
1935 Buffolo nickel in good condition.
About $1.00
What are these worth and how does someone go about selling them?
These are fairly common and eBay or an honest coin dealer is your the best bet.
Dealers would take 10% less then the price quoted.
i have a 1921 dollar coin that has a D over the do..is it worth anything?...thanks
1921 dollar coin that has a D

How do you know if a 1886 is MS-64 or MS-65 or any of the other MS's
Help.
How do you know if a 1886 is MS-64 or MS-65 or any of the other MS's
It is an ANA Grading Standard. The book of the same name deals with each coin and how they are graded.
But this LINK is a good overview.
MS-65 in a Morgan Dollar is described by having only light, scattered contact marks that are not distracting and strong luster with good eye appeal.
MS-64 can be described by having a few scattered contact marks, good eye appeal and attractive luster.
I have that one dollar coin 1886 morgan feuds I dial the number in 2009 now costs
one dollar coin 1886 morgan
About $13.20 in fine or less.
What does a cracked die really add to a coin's value? I mean the sort of thing where a crack shows along the lettering 1/3 way across coin, maybe top, often 2 places on same side of coin.
Simply Put: at what point does a cracked die prove valuable?
and I know to identify the cracked die- from the always wavery line, often in arcs or short scurved lines; but sometimes with numerous cracks, like a windshield looking like a clumsy jig-saw puzzle.
at what point does a cracked die prove valuable?
Die cracks on Morgans are very common.
Cracks add value if they are from the center of the coin to the rim.
Completely across the coin, rim to rim.
Cracked around the edge, not the rim.
Gives a shattered effect.
Also certain die chips or cuds or hub breaks fall into the same category.
1 - 3 small cracks do not add value.
I have a silver dollar its an 1883 an eagle on one side and a lady on the front, could you tell me appx. what this could be worth? thank you
silver dollar its an 1883 about $22.00
I have a treasure trove of old coins I just found in an old family steamer chest. One is a 1886 Dollar Coin with the O. It is dirty but not worn down with the exception of a few blemishes on the extreme edges. I also have an 1899, 4 1921s, 1922, 1924, and 2 1934s looks like an S and a D. Those are the one dollars I have three half dollars... 1833, 1907 and 1911. I have a quarter sized 1848 one cent piece and a 1911 nickel. I won't go into any more. These were just in one of the money satchels. Oh I also found a O.G. Smith 1.00 in Trade Coin from April 7th 1914 with a bullet hole. Any help here would be appreciated and I can take pictures of any if you'd like. Thank you for your help!!!!
1886 Dollar Coin with the O. It is dirty but not worn down with the exception of a few blemishes on the extreme edges.
About $35.00
1899 about $120.00
1921s about $20.00
1922 about $20.00
1924 about $20.00
1934s about $75.00
1934d about $35.00
half dollars...
1833 about $60.00
1907 about $12.00
1911 about $12.00
1848 one cent piece about $18.00
1911 nickel about $2.00
Oh I also found a O.G. Smith 1.00 in Trade Coin from April 7th 1914 with a bullet hole.
It would about $10.00 in good but with the bullet it may be much less or for some collectors a little more, western collectors not my scene.
i found an old box with a 1886 silver dollar with the word or name BILL engraved on the front. I have no idea if this is a name. does this lower the value?
1886 silver dollar with the word or name BILL engraved on the front. I have no idea if this is a name. does this lower the value?
It does lower the value to melt value of $13.50.
i read in a trusty website last week that there is no 1886 morgan dollar coin with CC mint mark. but i have one of those. is my coin fake?
i read in a trusty website last week that there is no 1886 morgan dollar coin with CC mint mark. but i have one of those.
That is correct only blank, O, or S exist.
All of these 1886-CC ever found were fake, made as souvenirs or altered from other types.
No value, sorry.
how much would a 1921 morgan with an "s" mint mark in Ms-65 shape be worth?
1921 morgan with an "s" mint mark in Ms-65
About $325.00
ok thanks because i have a book from 1980's that say its worth $625
ok thanks because i have a book from 1980's that say its worth $625
Book value is $1,325 but at auction on eBay and Heritage these sold for $200.
Most agree the book value is overinflated but 1921-S in high grades have been few if this was MS-66 it would easily be $3,000.
Better is a range so I'll revise to say $200 to $1,300 for this coin in MS-65.
PCGS has the most accurate population guide and that sets the current value.
I was wondering the Value of a 1883 CC Morgan Head-Uncirculated thank you
1883 CC Morgan Head-Uncirculated about $225.00 in mint state but if graded it can be more.
Ok found the link provided above for grading standard overview, i would say it's possibly a MS-68 or MS-69. I could be wrong but it is close to perfect, on the cheek bone there is what looks like the plastic display thing it's in has been pressed or rubbed against it that is the only flaw that I noticed I'll look better with a mag. glass later and it also has the certificate with what i believe is a mint or serial type of number all in excellent condition,
thank you.

That high of a grade would put it well over $3,000.00 the highest grade I've ever seen was an MS-67.
Paying to have it professionally raded would be best.

Whoops I think I left out a g in the word graded.
hello, I actually have many coins that were left to us through my father-in-laws estate.
I do not have the slightest idea of where to go to have them valued or to sell them.
One of them is a Morgan Dollar as you have mentioned above, it is in a cardboard frame (like the one pictured)written in the left hand corner is 1886 and in the right hand corner, 'BW'.
We also have a few Liberty Walking 1/2 Dollars and Mercury Dimes (1941,1942,1945)packaged together.
Many more coins, too....but this is a start.
Thanks for your help.
1886 and in the right hand corner, 'BW'.
BW most likely means Bright White which is a good color for silver. At mint state it would be about $60.00.
Aside from eBay your best bet is to pick up a coin mag. or book for cheap.
Liberty Walking 1/2 Dollars and Mercury Dimes (1941,1942,1945)
Dimes are about $1.30 each.
Halves are about $7.00 each.
Hello!
I have some coins and I would very much like to know about how much are they worth...
I have a one dollar coin from 1878 (this one looks identical to the 1886 one that you show here), a one dollar coin from 1922 and another one dollar coin from 1922 (these two are identical: on one side it says "liberty" about the face and on the other side there's an eagle with folded wings).
If you could help me out with this I would appreciate it a lot!
I have a $20.00 bill series 2004 that is strange, could it be worth more than $20.00. How do I send a copy.
one dollar coin from 1878 about $30.00
one dollar coin from 1922 about $22.00
$20.00 bill series 2004 that is strange
Post a picture somewhere and drop a link here.
i have a lighter that was made out of 2 silver dollars an it was general george patons lighter the date on one of the silver dollar is 1900 you cant see the other date can you tell me how much it is worth?
a lighter that was made out of 2 silver dollars an it was general george patons lighter the date on one of the silver dollar is 1900
1900 is $22.00
Most silver dollars are just worth the metal content since cleaning, damage, and other things knock out the collectors value.
$18.00 is usually the lowest these sell for know but silver prices are going up.
so its the same even if its perfect condition?
its the same even if its perfect condition?
No, if it is undamaged and a high mint-state like MS-65 it would be $175.00.
How much is 1886 Morgan P in MS-64 and MS-65?
1886 Morgan P in
MS-64 about $60.00
MS-65 about $175.00
Had to erase that...lol... Okay have several... Peace Dollars one of which is a 1922 P mint with what I think is a 180* rotation error. I mean by that, that both sides are upright.... not opposite like they are supposed to be when you flip it. Is it worth anything? posted a pic to my coin blog of you would like to look at it.
I also have 1922 p, 1926 s, 1922 o, a 1921 Morgan with a d mint... though my eye sight stinks I thought it may be a t...lol... but d sounds more plausible. Ill start posting pic of those soon.
I just started going through my coins and I am very new to this kind of thing... would appreciate any help and advice anyone is willing to dish out. Thanks, and am so glad I stumbled into your blog!
Peace Dollars one of which is a 1922 P mint with what I think is a 180* rotation error. I mean by that, that both sides are upright.... not opposite like they are supposed to be when you flip it.
Looks like a little less than 180 and if real in this condition it would be about $200.00 maybe a little less.
Dollars assuming good grade...
1922 p about $19.00
1926 s about $18.00
1922 o not possible
1921 d about $20.00
Ty Man.... appreciate you looking at it. Its pretty cool... either way. Like I said...eyes are not what they used to be...lol... that O could be a d. Thanks for the prompt reply. Im sure you will see more of me.
1922 D about $19.00
took it to a coin shop.... weighed 22.6 grams... its a fake. Well if anything I got a peice to talk about...lol Darn Chinese criminals.
Sorry to hear those cast coins from China often are the right weight then are sand blasted to take away the metal bubbles so they have that classic cast look.
1886 morgan AU-50 on the packaging. any idea on worth.
1886 morgan AU-50 on the packaging about $30.00
I have an 1896 silver morgan with no mint stamp. Its in good shape: What is it worth.
1896 silver morgan with no mint stamp. Its in good shape about $22.00
I have a pretty Interesting piece. I work at a gas station and I love old coins. An older fellow had a lot of old dollar pieces so I offered to buy them from him immediately. I actually came up short on the last few, but he insisted i take them free of charge. Inside the remaining stack I found a 1921 Morgan Dollar, with the same lady's head on both sides, both facing the same direction on either side. Is this worth anything?
1921 Morgan Dollar, with the same lady's head on both sides, both facing the same direction on either side
This is a magician's coin. This type of error is not possible but they are common seen and still sold in magic shops. Value is it's weight in silver which is $23.00.

About $30.00 in very-fine, value changes all the time so feel free to ask as silver prices and collectors markets always change.

You mentioned "# ONE TROY OUNCE SILVER" none of these coins if from America contain that amount so if these are silver rounds or something else then just silver value about $41.00.

1890 Morgan, New Orleans mint good condition
I believe I am being carefule to not grade them higher than they are worth, all have all stars, all have the liberty on the hair band or crown, all of the dates are clear all of the mint marks are clear, on has some surface dinging, another is tarnished, /...

1886 one dollar in good condition on the back with the eagle at the bottom above one dollar appears an o ,and for me is not silver only gold, and I have one dollar 1893 how I now if any of this dollars is Morgan
Sorry I do not understand.
If your dollars look like the picture above then they are Morgans.
If they look like Morgans and they are gold colored they have been gold-plated and just have metal value.
1886-O about $31.00
1893 about $240.00 if Morgan
I really liked your blog. Keep up the good work. I also wanted to let you know about my coin collecting blog. You can check it out at coincollectinghq.net. If you can please drop by, thinking about making a page listing other coin blogs and when I do I will include yours.
