2013 Canadian Quarter

Not a change find but close. I found this one on the sidewalk right after a Halal cart left. It was next to a copper cent and I can only assume the food cart guy threw it away since it was not American.

Brand new and shiny it is far from uncirculated but still in great shape. I was amazed that no one bothered to pick it up especially since it was close to a subway entrance.

It is too early to get a full mintage but expect about 200 million to be minted for 2013. That makes them common and this is just the caribou type, I am sure other quarter designs were minted but I have not seen them yet.

Type/Country: 25 Cents / Canada
Year: 2013
Mintage: Not yet known.
Metal: 94% Steel, 3.8% Copper, 2.2% Nickel
Value: $0.25 in Very-Fine (VF-20)

Do you have any Canadian coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

5 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

I did a science project (for school) that involved taking swabs of some of my coins and growing their bacteria to determine if "dirty looking" coins had more or less bacteria then "clean looking" coins. I also swabbed some silver coins because I head that bacteria does not grow well on silver.
The total project must have over 10 hours of logged time doing anything related to the project. I also (for history) did a project on ancient Greek coins (we were studying Ancient Greece) and got %100!!! I was amazed that a topic not done by anyone else could get such a high mark. My history teacher may have never seen an essay on greek coins before. That is just a few of some of my examples of coin collecting ocming in useful in any situation :)

@Aussie Kid, that is great if you go into Engineering like I did you could also do things like batteries with coins and build a coin counter.

The possibilities are endless.

I have a fifty cent Canadian piece on one side it says QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND.. on the other side it says HONG-KONG at top n on the bottom half of coin it says FIFTY CENTS 1967 But if you turn the coin n look at the outside rim it looks like someone took 2 real slender versions of the coin n slapped them together leaving a middle indentation between the 2. Is this a misprint or normal for this coin? Also any idea what the value is? It's in very good condition.

This coin is from Hong Kong not Canada.

The edge is a normal security edge.

Common about $0.40
