1965 Syria 2-1/2 Piastres

Have a Syrian coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment

This is the only Syrian coin I own. Coins from Syria are very similar to other from the region. This is because it is an Islamic country and they avoid human images. The imperial eagle is used on many Islamic coins and can be seen with or without stars on the shield. Not being able to read the language it took some time checking the coin books to match this coin (pre-internet find).

Currently Syria is in the middle of a civil war. Turmoil and troubles are devastating the country and the people. The monetary is also seeing big problems. Currently this coin is $0.00036 in U.S. dollars although I have heard that 2-1/2 piastres is not a widely used coin. 10 and 25 pounds coins are normal while the piastres is considered low value and rarely used.

Expect that after the war is over a new monetary system will be issued.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 2-1/2 Piastres / Syria
Year: 1965
Mintage: 8,000,000
Metal: Aluminum-Bronze
Value: $0.10 in Very-Fine

Do you have a coin from Syria and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

I've got a 1934 buffalo nickel with the "E" missing from "CENTS" on the reverse. The other letters are nice and clear. "FIVE C NTS"

Just a Struck Through Grease error, no extra value.

About $1.50.

-Not always, mostly they double the amount of coins because minting coins is based on a percentage and not a final count.

could you also find the mintage if known?
Estimated...
10,200,000 for the Roos circulated
9,397,000 for the CHOGM circulated
