2005 United Arab Emirates Dirham

Do you have a U.A.E. coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment

One of two United Arab Emirates (UAE) coins I own. Coins from Arabic countries often are more difficult to classify since they often do not have English writing or symbols and images that would instantly remind you of that country. Luckily the UAE coins have the country of origin written in English.

الامارات العربية المتحدة
means UNITED ARAB EMIRATES encircling ١ درهم
(1 Dirham)

Jug over ١٠‎٠‎٥‎ - ١‎٣‎٢٥ (2005-1425)
There were two types of Dirhams issued for 2005. This regular issue and honoring the mother of the nation that has different symbols on the back. This one I found, I assume, is more common since it is worth less than the other.

Here's the stats for this coin...
Type/Country: 1 Dirham / United Arab Emirates
Year: 2005
Mintage: Unknown
Metal: Copper-Nickel
Value: $0.35 in VF (very-fine)

This end of summer has been great for unusual change finds lets hope it extends deep into the fall season.

Do you have an United Arab Emirates coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

12 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

The "y" is a 6 in Arabic so it is a 2006 1 Dirham which is about $0.35.

Thanks for this info! I just found a coin exactly like this except the dates are a bit different. It looks like 199^ - 1E19. Pretty neat.

That is 1998 in the western world.

Still about $0.35

Y . .V = 2007
I E Y ^ = 1428

Still about $0.35.

I found this exact coin (same date) mixed in with my change in my wallet. I was fishing through the change to get quarters to put in the soft drink machine at work when I discovered it. Just curious as to what the meaning is of the second number (1425).

That is the Islamic year.
