2006 $1 Star Note D-*

Do you have star note and want to know its value? Leave a comment

I am going out of order just to publish something on schedule. This is my third find for 2011 and since the other were from...you guessed it Canada I will post them later this week.

Watching the cashier take out crisp bills for my change was nice until she crumpled them like that they can get separated. Anyone who gets crisp notes notices that they stick together real good. I understand that crimping a fresh note is sometimes necessary but it still makes the collector in me cringe.

This once straight star note from 2006 was right in the middle of these two notes from 2009.

What does that mean? Were some 2009 B-A dollar bills  destroyed?

Not sure.

The star notes were printed in August 2009 but that does not mean they are used immediately. The regular dollar bills were made in April 2010. That seems like a long time use these star replacement notes. It could be that some notes between the numbers you see int the picture were damaged in some way.

Were I a bit more obsessive I could use plate position to find out if this was possible but I already used the 2009 bills and I still have a social life. But if you want to make some sort of plate position app I will download it.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 1 Dollar / United States
Year: 2006
Date Printed: August 2009
Printings: 640,000
Run: 1st and only from D00000001* - D00640000*
Value: $25.00 in CU(crisp-uncirculated)

Pretty sure I can flatten this bill again since it was bent not fully folded, I'll stick in a book for a few months.

Do you have a dollar bill and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

527 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

These are considered damaged although the sell for $5.00 on those Home Shopping Channel sites.

Yes, this is normal.
The S or San Fransisco mint mark, as well as P and D, was moved to that location to tell the public that this nickel contains silver.

About $1.55

Hi, I recently just came across this site and it's definitely the most helpful one I've found. I have quite a few star notes but I'm curious mostly about these fancy notes (and possible fancy notes) that I have.

In circulated condition are:
$1 H20200020C 2006
$1 E10101012C 2009
$1 G69603696F 2006
$1 H64496464A 2009
$1 G43888883C 2009
$1 G77886634F 2006
$5 IE 26969696B 2006
$5 IG 30009300C 2006
$20 EH 95999671A 2004
$50 G 11696696A 1993

$20 JE 77498774B 2009 (crisp with no folds)
$20 JE 77589775B 2009 (crisp with no folds)

Any and all help would be appreciated and again, thank you.

--None of these are fancy.
They have no value over face.

$5 JG 13866831A 2009 (crisp with slight folds)
--About $10.00 the folds take away from the radar note.

$20 JE 77498774B 2009 (crisp with no folds)
$20 JE 77589775B 2009 (crisp with no folds)

-Again just face value.

Anonymous said...

Well that's unfortunate! At least I still have the face value though. I thought some of the bills were considered fancy that were bookend notes though according to the site posted earlier, even though they're probably pretty common.

Man said...

I thought some of the bills were considered fancy that were bookend notes

Bookend Notes are not recognized as true fancy notes to most collectors.

eBay has made them famous but they would never be graded or held as investment notes.

It is regular fancy notes and they rarely bring anything over 4 times face value in Crisp-Uncircualted.

Anonymous said...

Well I guess I'll just hold onto the radar note and put the rest back into my wallet and keep looking! Thanks for taking the time to respond!

About $22.00 the folds even slight take away most of its value.

Still it is not that low run.

Came across a dollar where the serial number was printed a few millimeters (maybe half a centimeter) above where it would normally be. I know each error is different and was just wondering how big of one this is. It's just a regularly circulated $1 bill, 2006, G71223458C. Thanks again.

Very Minor Misaligned Overprint error it has no extra value.

Unless the serial numbers are on top of the design elements it has no extra value.

They are common and for $15 you can get 64 graded pairs.

$50-$100 is not out of the range so I don't think you did that bad.

1928 $20.00 "gold on demand" note #10, from the Kansas City district....graded 64epq by pmg

About $200.00 the trend is going down, a few years ago it would have been $800.00.

eBay and cheaper grading has lowered the value. Since the population of 66epq notes or higher as gone up they have gained value but the 65 or lower notes will continue to lose value. No rebound in the near future.

I have a 2006 1$ bill, s/n G 31329425 G, from bank of Chicago, with a small E4 next to a 7 on left and just a 7 on right front. The very outer boundary line top to bottom is about 1/8 inch smaller, and the most outer side to side is about 1/4 or 5/16 inch smaller than ANY other 1$ bill I compare it to. Is this possibly a "small bill" I read about once in awhile. AND, I have quite a few 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5 dollar bills with a 'small face' of the president. haven't even looked at any of them close or checked any s/n's yet as up until a few days ago, I never knew about 'radar' bills, all the same numbers or any of the dozens of things that can make a bill valuable. Any value? AND, could you make short list of all the things we should be looking for. It takes awhile book to cover them in detail, but no one just gives a list so we can get started. Thanks, John

--Possibly Miscut but since it can be done at home then no extra value. Just no way to prove a real error.

AND, I have quite a few 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5 dollar bills with a 'small face' of the president.
--Sound like older notes, no extra value unless the notes are rare. But you would need a book to look them up.

AND, could you make short list of all the things we should be looking for.
--I'll try...
-Star Notes
-Silver Certificates
-Errors
-1988A, 1993, and 1995 Web-Fed notes that have a small number next to the word TRUST.
-Odd or Fancy serial Numbers.
-High Grade notes that appear perfect.
--Most Important anything that you enjoy to collect.

Unknown said...

I am sorry for not being clear, but the 1$ bill I was talking about, it is the total PRINTED area that is smaller in both the horizontal and vertical plain. It is as if the printed area of the bill just shrunk about 5%. When I say that, I all of a sudden think about how you reduce a copy on a copy machine. Gulp. What's your thoughts. John Pullen

P.S. We do deal in bail bonds and many 'clients' aren't the highest class, but forge a $1 bill?

Man said...

1$ bill I was talking about, it is the total PRINTED area that is smaller in both the horizontal and vertical plain. It is as if the printed area of the bill just shrunk about 5%.

Possibly fake although I never heard of $1 fakes.

That said it could be an error but 5% smaller is not going to have extra value. The margin of error for print size varies.

I'm leaning towards fake but even if real it would not be worth it to have it professionally graded. If you can hold on to it until a coin shop or club can see it in person, or until someone else reports this.

Last I saw this bill at auction it realized about $3,500.00.

Such a high quality note is not seen often so I expect it should fetch more than that although CGA is not the preferred grader.

Whether you sell now or later this is one note that will always bring a high amount.

--Another rare auction grade, about $1,200.00

Not to bring down the fun but CGA had a reputation of over-grading by up to 20 grades. This was especially true in the past 65 where usually only 45 for other companies.

Just be aware, hopefully yours are true to their grade.

Possibly because a few years ago these notes would go for $400.00. Price has been dropping as more notes get graded and this is not permanent.

In my opinion it would best to buy them but I suspect these are not lowest prices before they start to go up again.

Just a novelty many companies glue bills like this and sell it as a joke.

Each bill undamaged is about $1.50 at most.

Average value is about $400.00 so give or take $50 should be fine.

interesting to say the least...
I see in most books that $1000 is for a 63 fr251 and $1700 for a 65???
some books state as you do though, $2000 or so for a 64...
why so many discrepancies??

Like with most collectibles the prices go up and down.

The least you should sell for is $1,600, the most you should buy one is for $2,000.

That is what most dealers are buying and selling it for.

I have a 2017 $1 star note has slight bending in middle but still really crisp and fresh. In addition to the serial number starting with I 002...it also has minor misalignment and some random areas of ink smearing! This star note only has 250,000 in the run size according to my reference page..
