2006 $1 Star Note D-*

Do you have star note and want to know its value? Leave a comment

I am going out of order just to publish something on schedule. This is my third find for 2011 and since the other were from...you guessed it Canada I will post them later this week.

Watching the cashier take out crisp bills for my change was nice until she crumpled them like that they can get separated. Anyone who gets crisp notes notices that they stick together real good. I understand that crimping a fresh note is sometimes necessary but it still makes the collector in me cringe.

This once straight star note from 2006 was right in the middle of these two notes from 2009.

What does that mean? Were some 2009 B-A dollar bills  destroyed?

Not sure.

The star notes were printed in August 2009 but that does not mean they are used immediately. The regular dollar bills were made in April 2010. That seems like a long time use these star replacement notes. It could be that some notes between the numbers you see int the picture were damaged in some way.

Were I a bit more obsessive I could use plate position to find out if this was possible but I already used the 2009 bills and I still have a social life. But if you want to make some sort of plate position app I will download it.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 1 Dollar / United States
Year: 2006
Date Printed: August 2009
Printings: 640,000
Run: 1st and only from D00000001* - D00640000*
Value: $25.00 in CU(crisp-uncirculated)

Pretty sure I can flatten this bill again since it was bent not fully folded, I'll stick in a book for a few months.

Do you have a dollar bill and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

527 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

Curious as to what makes the $1 worth 12.50 and the 5 and 10 so much compared to others?

Low printing.

The $1 2006-J03488742* is new and 640,000 were printed in this run.

Both the $5 and $10 had printings of 320,000.

All the other bills you listed had printing of 3,200,000 or higher.

If you mean it is missing 50% of its design then it's about $1,000.

If you mean it slightly higher but no design is missing or cut off then just $15.

Agreed, Truffle Shuffle, Sloth, One-Eyed Willie.

So Im new to this hobby, and I enjoy it. Is what ive been doing a good idea? Ive been cashing my checks and asking for it in one dollar bills at the Wells Fargo Bank. Do they weed out web press One dollar bills? Anything to look out for? Also are there any 06' 99' 95' or 93'a series worth holding onto? Since those are the most commonly circulated?

$1 g19379635a 2009 and g19379634a 2009 (come right after the other in the series, same plate)

$1 k00733425* 2006 (other than it being a star and double-o 7, nothing special)

$1 g49966160h 1963a (the oldest note i own, are old notes worth holding on to until im old? im 21 now..)

Man said...

Do they weed out web press One dollar bills?
--No, but the older bills of all types regular are turned in to the governemnt to get burned. This is common to keep new and clean bills circulating.

Anything to look out for?
--Older notes, star notes, and error notes.

Also are there any 06' 99' 95' or 93'a series worth holding onto?
--No just star notes.

$1 b55511511i 2003a just $1.00
$1 f06198097a 1988a just $1.00
$1 f41666392h 2006 just $1.00
$1 b91533039e 1977 just $1.00
$1 f06555099* 2006 about $1.25

that one the numbers has 666 on it..
These numbers hold no special meaning to collectors.

--Just $1.00 each the minor Offset Printing does not add value.

$1 g19379635a 2009 and g19379634a 2009 (come right after the other in the series, same plate)
--Sequential notes adds no value.

$1 k00733425* 2006 (other than it being a star and double-o 7, nothing special)
--About $2.50

$1 g49966160h 1963a (the oldest note i own, are old notes worth holding on to until im old? im 21 now..)
--Just $1.00 it would be another 50 years before this has any real value.

If you hold on to these 5 notes for ten years it would be worth $6.50.
If you decide to spend these 5 notes on silver in ten years it would be $20 to $40 dollars.

Not trying to change your collecting habits just saying notes are a difficult investment.

There are special holder you can buy to protect bills.

Yes placing them in between books is fine.

Man said...

how do you know that the silver is a good thing to invest in
--History, 5 years ago silver was $10-$14 today it is $30-$35
But not just silver try gold, platinum, or palladium.

that ill see profit in 5 years and what kind of silver?
--True not guaranteed but still a better bet than notes or bills.

hope you mean something beside coins?
--Well I am a coin guy and buying coins will give you an added investment of collectors value.
But you can buy silver or gold bars which have no collectors value. I prefer older coins.

Man said...

BoogalooBluesman let me say bills and notes are great and that fact you have an eye for odd notes is wonderful.

Keep an eye for high quality and oddities.
Worse thing is that they just have face value, good luck and keep collecting.

And from which state are the star notes most valuable?

--2003A are more scarce but still common, plus newer so more have survived in high grades making them less valuable.

It means that it is probably a real error, it also adds value.

About $25.00 in fine.

elanaaaa! said...

Thanks so much!
You should be getting paid for all of this knowledge :)

Does having extra ink in serial numbers on bills have value? Like if the numbers are darker and thicker?

Man said...

These are also errors known as Ink Smear errors. But the ones you describe do not have extra value.

To have value the over inking should cover at least 5% of the surface.

elanaaaa! said...

Okay thank you again.

People think I'm crazy for checking every bill, I say they're crazy for possibly passing up bills that may have more value then they think.

Good idea, the only thing is that unless your a great seller on eBay only finds worth over $200 are easy to sell.

Still as a collector I think what you do is great.

elanaaaa! said...

Thanks... Whats over $200 that I should look out for?
Or even if it's like $50 over the original price lol

Too much to list but any error or star note in crisp-uncirculated should be worth $50 or more.

elanaaaa! said...

, thought it'd be something specific. Thanks for everything... I'm sure I'll have more questions in the future.

Man said...

Unfortunately a thousand possibilities ran through my head.

You have a keen eye so keep on putting stuff aside worst is just face value.

elanaaaa! said...

Hey I was wondering if a bill being printed too high has any extra value. It definitely has very little space on top and a lot of space on the bottom. Compared to other bills which are more centered.

elanaaaa! said...

It's a 1999 series $20 bill

elanaaaa! said...

I'm sorry and the printing mistake is on the rear side of the bill.

Man said...

Not really, this is a Faulty Alignment error but unless it is extreme like 25% or more off-center. Or you see a bit of another bill it is just face value.

elanaaaa! said...

There's more then double of the blank space compared to the top

Man said...

There's more then double of the blank space compared to the top

That does not change it, still no extra value.

This is a very common error that is why it needs to cut-off a bit of the the design before having any value.

elanaaaa! said...

And it looks like one of the letters leaked through to the back.... I'm sorry for all the questions. If I ask too many let me know and I will stop.

elanaaaa! said...

Okay thanks again!

Man said...

And it looks like one of the letters leaked through to the back.... I'm sorry for all the questions.

Offset Transfer error again no extra value.

The Faulty Alignment caused the Offset Transfer but both still are common and have no extra value.

Also I enjoy the questions, the more the better.

elanaaaa! said...

Lol okay cool, so here is another one...

So I read in someones previous post saying how funky serial numbers may have extra value....

I have a single with a serial number... B90794444H

Would that even be worth holding onto?

Man said...

They're called Fancy Numbers but yours is not fancy enough,
44444444 would be or 90799709.

elanaaaa! said...

Hmm okay.. Would A10409000A be fancy enough
Or it would have to consist of only 3 repetitive or patterned numbers?...

Man said...

Not fancy, it should have some kind of pattern.

elanaaaa! said...

Okay, Thanks for all the info! :)

elanaaaa! said...

Hey, is this a fancy serial number?

JE 15101010 D

Man said...

JE 15101010 D

Close but the 5 makes it common. Were that 5 a 0 it would be $125.00.

Keep looking you're getting close, remember they are rare for a reason.

elanaaaa! said...

Hey I'm wondering if this is a fancy number because I notice a pattern....

IC 28766728 B

elanaaaa! said...

It's probably not.. I thought it was more of a pattern until I typed it out

Man said...

IC 28766728 B so close but the last 2 should be 82 for this to be a "Radar" note.

Sorry.

elanaaaa! said...

Yeah that's exactly what I thought it was when I first looked at it. Aww well its okay, maybe one day

Hey there, I have a 2006 star note, f06555099* series2006, $1, Is ther something rare about the 2006 star notes?

Anonymous said...

And here is another 2006 star note, f05933681, series 2006 $1, Depending on which federal reserve bank these bills have printed on them, are some more? why is that if it is?

Man said...

f06555099* series 2006, $1 about $7.50

f05933681*, series 2006 $1 about $2.50

Depending on which federal reserve bank these bills have printed on them, are some more? why is that if it is?
--Value is based on print run. Sometimes a federal reserve bank orders less notes so they are more scarce.

In your case the F-* 2006 $1 were made like this...
f00000001*-f00640000* at 640,000
f03200001*-f06400000* at 3,200,000
f06400001*-f07040000* at 640,000

Hi I just found your blog today and I have to say it is interesting and I really think it is cool that you help everyone out with their money like this. That being said I have a few coins and a star note I found at work today that I would like to have you check on for me.

2006 $1 G06689145* uncirc

1972d Kennedy Half Dollar circ
1980d Kennedy Half Dollar circ
2000d Kennedy Half Dollar circ
Bicentennial Kennedy Half Dollar circ

1971d Eisenhower Silver Dollar circ
1972d Eisenhower Silver Dollar circ

1948 Quarter very rough condition
1965 Quarter circ

1936 Buffalo Nickel Very Tarnished but easily readable

1943d Penny looks like it is made from silver or aluminum
1952d Penny
1949d Penny
I am new to collecting so I think the pennies are all wheat pennies. And they are all in very circulated condition but all readable through the dirt

Foreign Coins:
1950-2000 Supreme Court of India 2 Rupees circ

1999 Republica De Venezuela 100 Bolivares lightly circulated

1970 Bermuda one cent coint with pig on one side and elizabeth II on the front Circ

2000 Commonwealth of the Bahamas 25 cent piece circ

An the last one is tough... I looked it up and I know it is saudi arabian and it is 25 hala(?) but without translating the words I can't give more than that. I understand if this one is a bust and you can't give me anything about it

Man said...

Foreign Coins:

1970 Bermuda one cent coint with pig on one side and elizabeth II on the front Circ

2000 Commonwealth of the Bahamas 25 cent piece circ about $0.25

An the last one is tough... I looked it up and I know it is saudi arabian and it is 25 hala about $0.25

Anonymous said...

Thanks for all those values... What about the 1970 bermuda penny though? You missed it in the values

Man said...

Oh I didn't even see it, I'm getting old my eyes are going.

1970 bermuda penny about $0.03

Adding a bit to the 25 Hala they were made for a short time between 1972-1987 and all are just $0.25 in circ.
But there is an error with some 1972 that has to do with feminine Arabic words but I cannot point it out these are $1.00.

Hi i just got 2 star bills from work today luckily i work for a chevron gas station.

The $20 is crisp but has 3 small creases as if in a wallet and a little bit of ink above jackson's head no larger than the number 20.

$20 bill serial GB 00123935* Series 2004 A

The $1 is a crisp but has very little amounts of crumpling on it.

$1 bill serial J 01836571* Series 2006

Both are in great condition, what are their values?

Also i was wondering where you get your info? Do you share information in other blogs, forums etc,.?

Man said...

Also i was wondering where you get your info?
--Books, magazines, grey sheets, auctions, forums, and private sales.
Just keep up with the latest figures and average them out, of course some places buy/sell for more/less but what I give out is the average lowest price you can buy it for today.
No values are official and if you can get more when selling then go for it but you should not settle for much less.

Do you share information in other blogs, forums etc,.?
--No.
This blog is all about my personal collection, helping others with small finds, and a record for when my memory goes.

Casey said...

Well thanks for the reply :). Also i must be a lucky guy because this is the second day in a row that i have found another star bill this time its a $50.

$50 bill crisp uncirculated
Serial JG 02965582*

What is the current value for this bill?

So i now have

$1 J 01836571*
$1 G 05850617*
$20 GB 00123955*
$50 JG 02965582*

Should i hold onto these bills for a few years or just sell them for the little profit they have?

Man said...

$50 bill crisp uncirculated
Serial JG 02965582* about $75.00

$1 J 01836571* ??What year??
$1 G 05850617* ??What year??

$20 GB 00123955* about $25.00
$50 JG 02965582* about $22.00

Over the next 10-20 years most of these notes will stay the same value, the 2009 will probably lose a little value.
If you can sell them for anything above face value go for it.

Most note collectors want perfect graded notes.

Casey said...

Which price would be for the $50? You said $75 and then you said $22. and you already told me the price for the single bills.

Casey said...

Both singles are 2006.

Man said...

Ooops I read...
$20 JG 02965582* about $22.00

Yes, $50 JG 02965582* about $75.00

Casey said...

Thats understandable, where would i be able to get someone to grade my notes?

Man said...

where would i be able to get someone to grade my notes?

http://www.pcgscurrency.com/pricing.html

It is about $35-$150 to grade a note. Plus you need a membership.

That is why unless the note will grade near perfect it is not worth the hassle.

I am not exactly sure what constitutes as a fancy serial number but I found one tonight that I thought was interesting.
2006 $20 IL 88995566A
It's not a star note so I wasn't sure if the fancy serial number would apply anyway. I am still learning all this stuff, mostly through your blog

Man said...

2006 $20 IL88995566A just $30 the number is not fancy enough.

At most it should have only 2 different numbers repeating yours has 4 different numbers and not in order 55667788 would be better..

It is possible some collector may like it but it is too common.
