Price Check

Do you have any coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

I got 3 updated coin books and will update any prices in the blog posts from the past. It should be done by tomorrow to update the values for 2008. Coin books are always published for the next year. I shopped around for weeks and ended up buying all of them through Amazon.com they were the cheapest.

1. The Official Price Guide to Mint Errors, 7th Edition
This is an update from my 6th Edition it describes all common errors and gives a a very preliminary value and rarity. I haven't looked into this book deeply but from a glance it has changed a lot.

2. Standard Catalog of World Coins 1901-2000
This is the best of world coin books and has every country. There are some missing parts and mistake like the Russian rouble for 1993, the China 10 yen for 1990-2000. The mistakes were worst last year. The change is not drastic for value but picture quality is improving. Older versions of this book are fine if you can get them for cheap.

3. 2008 Standard Catalog of World Coins: 2001 to Date
This is the second half of the world coin book but it is horrible. It lacks most modern dates, values are not reliable, and most of the mintages are not there.

All together I spent $72.38 but I believe it is worth it. After going through my personal coin collection the finally price change was a $18.55 in profit. I have approximately 3,000 foreign coins and some went up in value to $28.55 but I lost $10.00 with other coins. Most of these coins are circulated so no big gains. Any certified coins I have did not change in value.

Update: Just saw this one hope to get it soon...Charlton 62nd Canadian Coin Catalogue.

Do you have any coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

17 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

I have two items that I would like to know if they are worth anything. The first is a $20 Bill 2001 Series J10. The front of the bill is considerably offset with a much wider gap towards the bottom and a little gap towards the top. The second item is much more interesting. I believe it is a gold coin with an Indian head on the front. Underneath it says 1852. There are 13 stars all around the Indian head. If you flip the back it says California Gold with a number "1/2" imprinted. Underneath the "1/2" there is an animal. I can't tell what it is. Looks like some sort of bear, but it's too tiny to make out.

Sorry I made a mistake on the $20 bill. It's actually K11 series. I was staring at a wrong bill when I was typing before... Thanks!

$20 Bill 2001 Series K11 offset

It is a very minor offset and does not add any extra value. Sorry.

It is a bear if I'm correct this is a California Gold Token made in the 1970s as souvenirs there are many varieties. Some are brass and others are real gold.

This website called CalGoldCoin has listing of all the bear types made. Go there look for the link that says "California Gold token guide"
then scroll down and hit the link that says "Index of bear types".

You may find yours there, they average $1-$5 for brass and up to $150 for gold.
Again here is the site, CalGoldCoin .

I got a book recently similar to your #2 on the list, World Coins 11th Official Edition 1901 - present (KP). It is pretty helpful. I paid $35 for it from Books-A-Million. It seems good but like you said some coins are not listed like the new Mozambique coins. Anyway, it still useful for most research.

World Coins 11th Official Edition 1901 - present

Is this the one for circulating issues with a red cover?
In the other editions they have only 3 new Mozambique coins not the full list.

The last time Mozambique revalued there money was 2006 there should be 9 coins. About $1.25 each in uncirculated.

Yep the red cover! My husband went for a working trip to Mozambique and I asked him to get me some coins. He came back with some and since I couldn't get good info from the internet I consulted the book if what I got was a complete set, well it doesn't have the new circulation of Mozambique coins issued in 2006, or weren't the issued/released in Feb 2007? Not sure now.

The 2001-Date black World coin book has only the 2006 10 Metcais at about $1.50.

A complete set should have....
10 Meticais
5 Meticais
2 Meticais
1 Metical
50 Centavos
20 Centavos
10 Centavos
5 Centavos
1 Centavo

The 2003 Meticais are listed in the book but they are worth 1000 to 1 in Mozambique. Poor money devaluation I here the country is beautiful, some nice cities.

I don't have a complete set then, let me make the list (thanks by the way) Mozambique is beautiful. We have Malaria prevention projects there. Good beaches, cheap too, for now, as it is not as popular as South Africa yet. I was hoping my husband could find me one or two Portuguese coin but they are hard to find and also a little expensive! A complete set would be enough plus the other old ones (LOL)

I also liked the Mozambique coins from the Portuguese days but as you said the good ones are a bit expensive. I got a nice 20 Centavos that I blogged about HERE for about $4.00.

There are 8 in the set but I can't afford them now...
10 Centavos
20 Centavos
Small sized 20 Centavos
50 Centavos
1 Escudo
2 1/2 Escudos
5 Escudos
10 Escudos

1/2oz fine gold coin from South Africa dated 1981

It's a 1/2 Krugerrand worth about $440.00 mostly for the gold content.

Yours looks proof which doesn't add much but it can go for $500.00 if untouched by human hands.

Nice I always liked these coins.

Hi I have a 2006 One dollar bill with the offset error on the back it pretty much everything on the front is on the back except for seals and serial number and it is seems darker than most pictures I've seen on similar offsets. It is minted in Minneapolis Minnesota serial number is I51966943A. I'm not an expert collector or anything, but if I had to grade it It would be Very Fine.

2006 One dollar bill with the offset error

This is fairly new bill and I've seen only one or two errors for 2006.
It may be around $50.00 but with so few others to compare it to it's hard to say.

Not less then $25 not more than $100.
