Just Found

Do you have a foreign coin and want to find out its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

It's been at least a month since I found collectible coins in my change. This is mostly because I'm broke and use credit cards, oh that beautiful plastic. Today though I found two foreign coins, when receiving 78 cents back in change.

First a twenty-five cents coin from the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, 2000.
Second 25 cents from Canada, 1987, eh.

The Bahamas quarter in extra fine condition is valued at $0.30.
The Canadian quarter in extra fine condition is worth about $0.30.

These two are not rare coins and living in New York City you tend to get an abnormally high amount of Canadian coins. While this is only my third Bahamas coin it's my 245th Canadian coin. Summer is a good time to collect coins because a day trip to Canada and you can get a handful coins, if your not that drunk.

Going on vacation is also a great way to pick some coinage. Travel in and around the United States will get to places like the Bahamas on a day trip. Trips these days are cheaper then ever and makes getting foreign coins simple.

Foreign coins tend to be much less valuable then American ones. The most valuable coins are American coins and European coins from hundreds of years ago can be worth quiet a lot also.

Foot Note:
The value I attribute to these coins come from the 2009 Standard Catalog of World Coins I have yet to buy a new one.

Also Canadians are our friends to the north.

111 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

I found a two cent Australian coin.
I know that most of them were melted to make bronze medals in the Olympics, But I shall not know what it's worth.

Man said...

two cent Australian coin

They are about $0.10 each because they are still fairly common especially in high grades.
The pre-1971 two cents are worth about twice as much but still that is only $0.20.

These coins were made by the 100 millions so they won't be rare even if half were melted.

ok "man"i got 2 question first i got 2 pennys from 1959 (dads) birth day, there in good condictions.

1959 cents are at the most $0.20 in almost perfect.

These coins are not rare and even in high grades they are common among collectors. A coin would be valuable if it is both hard to find and seldom seen in high grades.

Canadian dimes from 1969 and i have been told that if you have the ones with the small sails they are worth money

No, the difference is in the entire ship and the date. In 1969 a new reverse was made but around 15 dimes were made with the old design.

There is a large date variety has a larger ship and the date numbers are very squared. Worth about $6,100.00 in fine.

The small date variety has a smaller ship and the date numbers are smaller and more round. Worth about $0.10.

hakim said...

k 1 more thing, the fish is an Atlantic mackeral, im geussing it would b worth $1.50, as it contains only .06 ounces of silver. would my assumption b accurate?? or is the price off

Man said...

Canadian dime...1867-1967

When a coin has dual dates it was most liekly made on the later date.
This is a 1967 Canadian dime.

There are two varieties that can not be distinguished.
80% silver 0.06 ounces about $0.80
50% silver 0.0375 ounces about $0.50

In high grades they are both worth the same about $1.50.

Man said...

1911 silver Canadian dollar

This is officially known as a pattern as none were made for release.
If real they average about $750,000.00 more or less depending on variety.

There was a dollar with a dual date of 1911-2001 and it was made for release it goes for about $55.00.

Of course before anything you would have to have it graded and since this is an ultra rare coin it would cost over $100 and it might be a fake.

In all two silver version exist along with one lead. No others have every been verified.

2005-P U.S. California 25 Cents about $0.25
2000-P U.S. Maryland 25 Cents about $0.25

Nice scans but unfortunately all these coins are normal circulating coins.

The Canadian 50 cents piece has the lowest mintage and best chance of rising in value over the next few years.

Also would you know if any coins from Uruguay circa 1961 have any sivler?

All information is greatly appreciated!

On the other side is a woman holding a shield with a cross in her left hand and a sword(long looking stick) or something like that in her right hand. The word Helvetia is below her and stars around the outer edge of the coin. Do you have any information on this, I would love to know the history. Thanks!

Yes.
A few years back I bought $11 worth of Canada junk silver coins, today they are worth $55.

As long as you enjoy it and plan for 5-10 year returns then you'll do good.

Either is fine, Canada and U.S. are equally collectible and junk silver status is the same for 1940-1964 coins.

The rainbow color could be natural toning.
Red does raise the value.

I fear the shiny means they were cleaned and it will lose value.

But yes the more like new and uncleaned the more value it has.

I have a fifty cent bill from the bahamas, 1965 is the year. I also have a bill from Viet Nam it says 20 on it and has the words Haimuoi bong.. No year that I can see, it is not in the best shape maybe worn to much to see a year but I dont see any trace of where a year may have been. Any ideas how much they are worth? Thank you!

Just a common 1992 nickel from Canada, only $0.05.

i see someone already asked, but you had no idea of the value.

Regarding the Peterborough anniversary dollar.

I am having a hard time finding info on it to. But i have 7 in my possession.

The one side of the coin says :
"Anniversary Dollar, city of peterborough"

The other side says:
"Homecoming '75 Robinson Immigration, county of peterborough 1825-1975"

Just wondering if you have maybe heard of anything as the first person mentioned it on Aug.7,2011

Well finally came across a link for the peterbough anniversary coin.

http://www.coinsandcanada.com/tokens-medals-trade-dollars.php?title=peterborough-1825-1975&id=1563

Depending on condition it ranges from $1-$5.

peterbough anniversary coin

Oh yeah that is just a common dollar. Unless high grade just $1.00.

I rarely hear of it as a peterbough coin just a regular 1975 anniversary dollar.

Coins and Canada is a great site that is why I have their link on my blog roll. Values are accurate even if they are in Canadian values.

ok so I read about 3/4 of the comments and I don't think this was asked: I have 3 different coins that i don't know what they are:
1. copper slightly bigger than a penny 1963 cross on the back saying Helvetia, on the front it has the number 2 with a weird symbol looks like an arrow but not sure. very small "B" under the 2

2. I am not even sure if this is worth anything but... about the size of a quarter it has a flying angel on both sides the angel has a halo

3. smaller than a dime silver 6 small stars on both sides of the lady. the lady has a sash that says liberty around her head. date: 1832
back: an eagle with a shield sitting on arrows says United States of America small lettering at the bottom: 5C.
Mine has a hole in it and its on a string.

--Some sort of fake. No nickels were made in 1832 and no U.S. coin would say 5C.
Maybe a link to the picture would help.

I found an Elizabeth II D.G.Regina 1867-1992 Canada Dollar coin. It's in pretty good shape (though it could use a good polishing) and so I was wondering if it was worth anything. I also found a coin that on one side says: 10 koneek and on the other side is a guy on a horse stabbing something below him that looks like a seahorse but is probably a dragon. This side says "Bahk Pocnn." I know it's probably not worth anything much since it's a 2013 coin but I was wondering if you could tell me it's origins because I'm not sure what to look for exactly. Also, how much is it worth (just in case)?
