1943 Canada Cent

Do you have Canadian cent and want to know its value? Leave a comment

Last post I said how difficult it was getting coins and then a day later I found this old Canadian cent. So I am feeling a little more hopeful.

Nice to get a war time cent but unlike U.S. coins Canada did not modify their copper cents in 1943. They issued more copper cents then ever before. Why? Because they were salvaging nickel instead. For a few years they stopped making nickel based five cent pieces.

Let me add it is much darker in hand.
There is also some verdigris damage in the GEORGIVS VI D:G:REX ET IND:IMP: that is not apparent in hand.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 1 Cent / Canada
Year: 1943
Mintage: 89,111,969
Metal: 98% Copper,1.5% Zinc, and 0.5% Tin
Value: $0.10 in VG

Do you have a cent from Canada and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

27 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

Hi. I hope you can answer this question, and I'm sorry if it's silly: I was moving an old bookshelf and found three $20 bills under it. They're 1999 and 1996 series. I just want to know if I can still spend them, because I read somewhere that they would be considered out of circulation. Thanks!

You can use them.

Official American money does not get demonetized. Meaning you can still use money from 1930s and $500 dollar bills are still legal even though they were last made around 1934.

So these 1996 and 1999 notes are Out-of-Print but still in circulation and still legal.

Hi, I have a 1927 Canadian nickel and a 1944 Canadian "Newfoundland" dime. Can you tell me what they may be worth? I've never seen a Newfoundland dime before. Thanks!

1927 Canadian nickel about $0.40
1944 Canadian "Newfoundland" dime about $3.00

Newfoundland coins stopped being issued in the late 1940s, most are common but worth more than Canada coins of the same year. Very collectible.

Great find.

I have been collecting coins for a few years and just came across a very nice selection of 1940-1950 coins such as this. some are even in VG conditions.

That's nice unless silver most are about $0.10 above face value.

Hello. Just discovered this great blog. I recently bought a roll of Canadian pennies marked "1964". I thought it was rolled in 1964, but it turns out it is a bank roll of 1964 pennies in mostly like new fresh from the mint condition. I was checking for errors and found 4 that look to me like the "die shift on DEI" error.
I did my best to scan them and you should be able to see them here:
http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/11881600/view/PENNIES.jpg
#1 - a sample penny from this roll to show condition.
#2 - the normal "DEI" on most 1964 coins.
#3,4,5,6 - the 4 I think have the error.
What do you think?
And also, do you have any idea of the value, if they are?
Thanks for any help and thanks for hosting this great blog.

Have a 1943 penny with a torch print on it. Head facing left. Worth anything?

1943 penny with a torch print on it. Head facing left.

Damaged, no extra value.
After the war many companies put a V or torch on coins or represent victory. It adds no value and actually lower the coins value. It's a novelty.
