Finally I have something a bit more interesting to display although a Canadian cent did happen to make its way in this post. The diversity of coins found this time is great and  some I have not seen in my change in years.

First an East Caribbean States quarter from 2004. Back in December 2009 I found a dime from the same issuer. Given that it is a standard size quarter and with all the U.S. state/territories/parks quarters floating around I expect to see more foreign quarters over the next few years.

Second is a Moroccan Dirham from 2002. The last time I found this type was in November 2006 but I did not post it for some reason, probably swamped with exams.

Third was a Canadian cent, nuff said.

Not in the best shape but finding these all in the same day was a nice kind of cool. Sometimes for other finds I group them together just to save on time and energy, I have to be "green".

For the East Caribbean States quarter there seems to be a gap between issues and problems. The world coin book by Krause list them for 2000 then 2002 then 2007. This 2004 is not listed but I know they made every type of coin for 2004 including sets but the book is incomplete on lots of modern coins.

Metal: 98% copper, 0.5% tin and 1.5% zinc
Value: $0.02 in F

Now with the Canadian cent there are two varieties, a blunted 5 and a pointed 5.
The blunted 5 is characterized by having a rectangular top in the number 5. Worth nothing extra.
The pointed 5 is characterized by having a more trapezoidal top to the number 5. Worth about 30 times the normal cent.

1956 Wheat Cent

Trying to catch up on some back log of change finds I will go through the boring ones a little quicker.

This is just an ordinary 1956 U.S. cent that has some damage. The damage is enough to be barely above metal value but hey it's something.

Here's the stat for a 1956 penny....

Metal: 95% copper 5% tin and zinc
Value: G-4 $0.03
------VG-8 $0.05
------F-12 $0.08
------VF-20 $0.10
------EF-40 $0.12
------AU-50 $0.15
------MS-60 $0.25
------MS-63 $0.35

G-4 is worn with lines in the wheat head missing.
VG-8 has half of lines visible in upper wheat heads.
F-12 has wheat lines worn but visible.
VF-20 no worn spots on wheat heads.
EF-40 has slight overall wear, all details sharp.
AU-50 slight wear on cheek and jaw and wheat stalk.
MS-60 is no trace of wear, light spots, full details.
MS-63 no trace of wear, slight blemishes, red-brown color.

Note the value in all grades will not make anyone retire early.

Both of these are repeat finds but I wanted let everyone know I'm still finding coins and still answering questions.

That said, my word I have been flooded by modern Canadian lately. I;m already repeating 2009 finds.
