2003 $2 Bill, I-B

Do you have a $2.00 bill and want to find out its value? Leave a comment

Rarity, scarcity, or just plain old hard to find. Most likely the latter because $2.00 notes are not rare or particularly valuable. Yet to receive one in your change is very unlikely. The only scarcer form of U.S. money to get as change is the half dollar coin.

The only reason I got these two $2.00 bills is that the I knew the cashier. Which is a major point since people have been arrested when other cashiers have not recognized these bills and the local uninformed authorities gets involved.

The worst forms of money to use in the U.S. are as follows:
  1. $2.00 bill - Seldom seen, believed to be fake or no longer legal.
  2. Susan B. Anthony dollar coin - Seldom seen, believed to be fake or a quarter.
  3. Half dollar coin - Seldom seen, believed to be fake or no longer legal.
  4. Older bills without the strip or watermark - Believed to be fake or no longer legal.
  5. Golden dollars - Believed to be fake or too bulky fit in register.
The look you get these days when using cash in some places is almost the same as you get if you stepped in mud and tracked it into their store. Go ahead try to explain it's just mud nothing worse but still you soiled their business. If cash gets this reaction then these rarely used notes or coins gets a "you fully stepped in it now" look.

Now a look at the offenders.

It has been years since I got any $2.00 bills and never from 2003.

These circulating notes were only issued for the Minneapolis, MN Federal Reserve Bank but collectible star notes were issued from the other 11 Federal Reserve Banks.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 2 Dollars / United States
Year: 2003
Date Printed: October 2003
Printings: 121,600,000
Run: 2nd in the I00000001B - I25600000B group
Value: $2.00 in Fine(one is fine the other not so much)

I would like to state clearly these notes are real and legal. While I'm not sure about the local state laws they should be accepted without incident.

Do you have a two dollar bill and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

I have 25 $2bills that are glued together in a pad, uncirculated sequential F 35522926A -35522950A I don't know if they came in the pad or if someone made it. I assume they came that way from the bank? What are they worth as a set? I also have a 1950 $50 bill serial number J02790575.

Thanks!

These are not offical since glued money holds no value over face value.
Uncut sheets were sold but they would not be glued to anything.
If the glue can safetly be removed then depending on year they may have extra value.

1950 $50 bill serial number J02790575 about $75.00 should be 1950-C

Well I assume yours is MS-60.
At MS-63 it's about $6,000
At MS-65 it's about $13,000

So maybe they're hoping it will grade higher.

UNC does bring higher values but even in certified near perfect it would be about $5.00 each. They are just too common and new.

Also, I'm unclear about your earlier 1976 I-series comment. Can you clarify that again?

6 2$ Bills 1976 Series, Extra Fine Condition
1973 Lincoln Kennedy Penny
2 Eisenhower One Dollar Coins
1943 Steel Pennies
20 2$ Bills, 2003 Series, Extra Fine Condition
3 2$ Bills, 1995 Series, Extra Fine Condition
4 Silver 1964 Quarters Barely Any Tarnish
1 Silver Murcury Dime

Sorry For Posting So Many Things To Answer, I Would Also Like To Comment About The Website, Great Idea!

Man said...

2$ Bills 1976 Series, Extra Fine Condition depends on serial numbers but average is about just $2.00

1973 Lincoln Kennedy Penny done outside the mint, no extra value

2 Eisenhower One Dollar Coins just $1.00 depending on year and mintmark

1943 Steel Pennies about $0.30 year depending on mintmark.

20 2$ Bills, 2003 Series, Extra Fine Condition
3 2$ Bills, 1995 Series, Extra Fine Condition
--All just $2.00 each depending on serial number

4 Silver 1964 Quarters Barely Any Tarnish about $7.10 each

1 Silver Murcury Dime depends on year but about $2.85

Thanks for the kind words, none of what you listed are rare but a lot depends on serial numbers, years and mintmarks. That may not change the value much but it is how collectors list and identify their collections.

Minor Ink Smear error, at most $10.00 each if their is proof these bills were recalled.

--You said these were uncut sheets and they are always worth more at least twice face value which should be $32 but these are very collectible so they go up in value quick.

I took them to a pawn shop to see what they though they were worth and they said they were just worth face value.
--they probably get a lot but if these are uncut they were trying to rip you off.

No, 1928--A-G, 1953--A-C, 1963--A, 1976, 1995, 2003--A.

The oldest I found in my change was a 1928-G.

TL said...

Oh wow. I always thought it was only 1976 and 2003. It shows that they weren't that popular, since they printed them once every 10+ years.

It shows that they weren't that popular, since they printed them once every 10+ years.

Well the 1928-1963A were printed every year, that is why they went up to G series.
After 1963A which was printed in 1966 they stretched it out.

Most people keep them until they do some research and find out most have no extra value.

Since these are common most coin shops won't buy them for more than 50 cents above face.

To get the max value try eBay, looking at current auctions. Average is $350.00 for the 100 strap.

Only if they were graded could you sell each for $5.00.

hi would be greatfull for your help as there is no other similar forum for Australian notes where anyone is willing to estimate anything without inspection blah blah, I only want a round about idea so I can decide if they are worth keeping to sell or just use them as cash, very hard not to when times are hard. While i do have Rennicks 24th Ed my main confusion is to exactly how much value the consecutive order generally adds to the basic collective value of these notes, and does this increase the more consecutive notes in a row you have. Thanks for any idea.
All Australian polymer notes in UNC condition.

Consecutive notes do not generally add any value unless the notes are rare.

As for estimating your notes I cannot, I have no information on Australian notes and serial numbers. Sorry I do coins first then American notes, my knowledge on foreign notes is extremely limited.

uncut sheet of 16 $2star bills, serial start at H00653XX7* and end H00953XX7* the serial # are not consecutive, can you tell me why

The reason is that sheet under neath is 1 number less. So imagine these big 32 or 16 uncut sheets stacked on top of each other.

Now they are cut and each stack of single notes will be consecutive. It is a layout shortcut.

It may be hard to imagine but it is the fastest way to get a stack of bills in order.

2003 A two dollar bill. Serial number F14629527A. There are two 'B's on the face side of the bill with numbers after them. One says B2, the other B14.

No error, that is normal.
The B2 is the plate position which is where the note is positioned when printed.

The B14 is the plate number which is the ID number for the plate used for printing.

So plate B14 was set in the B2 position and it worked well. If there was an error or damage the workers would pull the plate, burn the notes and try again with B15 at B2.
