While I'm happy so many people are finding star notes it has been a while since I got one. Mostly since I hardly use cash anymore.
Then on September 25 I got this bill in my change. It is a 2003A F-Atlanta series star note.
The back is normal as you can tell.
The star note is a replacement note used by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing when a defect or error is found on the regular run of notes. There is no replacement of specific serial number instead they replace blocks of notes with the newest star notes. Since less then 1% of notes need replacement star notes are scarce.
Still they are not rare since they are printed by the hundred thousand or million. They are printed in runs of a specific amount and the lower the run the more it is worth to collectors.
- Less than 320,000 printed is lowest.
- Exactly 320,000 printed is very-low.
- Between 320,000 and 640,000 is low.
- Exactly 640,000 is medium.
- More than 640,000 is high and normal.
Type/Country: 1 Dollar/United States
Year: 2003A
Printings: 3,200,000
Run: 4th from F09600001* - F12800000*
Value: $2.50 in VF
It has plenty of folds and is probably worth less then listed, but that is true with most collectibles.

Your serial number is incomplete I would need the front letter but they average about $125.00.
The first letter is a d on that $50note
I also want to ask about a couple other things.
I saw this 1928 $50 note. Im not sure if it was a star note or not but the first two numbers were 00. Can you give me the price for both star note and non star note. Also it said it was payable in gold but was not gold certificate.
I also have a 1914 $5 bill the serial number is G507122203b in good condition could you tell me the price of it.
1 more thing. I also have a 1923 $1silver certificate. The serial number is R48670202D. Could you tell me the price plese and thanks.

consecutive uncirculated one dollar bills with stars series 2003 starting G 07757640
These are very common and they're about $2.50 each. Since they're common they're hard to sell.

About $125.00 in crisp uncirculated.
I had a customer pay me with a $10 bill last week and it caught my eye,so i traded out for it.It is a 1950 $10 bill listed as Series 1950E.Serial is G01728581I.It
shows a 7 in the upper and lower corner of each side( i hope this makes sense) and also has the letter O top left and O453 bottom right on the front. The back shows the number 1735 in the lower right hand side.It shows some fold marks, but otherwise crisp and clean. Is this something i should hold onto? Thanks for your time and answer in advance.
$10 bill listed as Series 1950E.Serial is G01728581I
It's about $35.00 it is a short series and very collectible. It is the most valuable of the 1950 series you may want to hold onto it for a while.
Thanks for the fast response.I was hoping for just that answer (well maybe a little more value....lol).I had a feeling it was fairly rare for the 1950's $10's due to the lack of information i could find,as well as a lack of any listing on E-bay.Again,many thanks for your fast response.
I was hoping for just that answer (well maybe a little more value....lol).I had a feeling it was fairly rare for the 1950's $10's
What lowers the value is the folds, it can not be crisp and have folds.
Were it crisp-uncirculated it easily goes for over $100.
I have two straps of $1 star notes and would like to know the value. They are both 2003A and the numbers are F14807601-F14807700 and F15212001-F15212100. Thanks.

The coin you have is an 1850 Minerva #1. It is a California Fractional Gold type and is about $20.00 I think it's brass and has very little gold. Although Replicas do exist the double chin is a clue that it's genuine.

Crispness is always preferred but it is hard to give a range.
For example in Choice Crisp-Uncirculated...
2003 $1 E00 000 001*-E00 320 000* is $50
2003 $1 E03 200 001*-E06 400 000* is $5

Thanks Man! I apologize. Un Buried was 'Tongue In Cheek'.
Except that I have handled them they look like they just come off the press.
2 Qs?
1. Why are the $1s @ 50% and the $5s @ 100%?
2. where is there a market for them, as I would like to buy some silver rounds with them?

1. Why are the $1s @ 50% and the $5s @ 100%?
The $1 are very common with over 2 billion printed. While the $5 is also common it is the last of the old design.
2. where is there a market for them, as I would like to buy some silver rounds with them?
Honestly unless you have them graded there is no market except eBay.
You can try to trade in a coin-forum but these days it's tough.
A coin shop would not give you anything above face.
If you could get $330 for the lot it would be good. Even at face silver bullion is a better long term value.
I would take the best $1 & $5 put it safely aside for the future and sell the rest or just use it at face value to get some good silver.
Assuming crisp-uncirculated.
$10 GL09516636* 2004A about $25.00

Minor Ink Smear error no extra value.
Very odd most of your notes have the same value. Of course in less than crisp-uncirculated they are less.
Thanks a Bunch Man! Appreciate Ur insight & advice. I think I will take 2 ea in Seq. 2 put away and buy silver w/ rest.

It is very common with 3,200,000 printed. In the next 20 years it may go up in value. Of course if the condition is perfect it will get higher quicker.

I have been a money collector for a few years now and have a 25 bill Star Note collection. I also look for many many other things in serial numbers as well as on the bill itself.
My first question is if bills with serial numbers that end with letters between T-Z are worth anything.
What I have which are all $1, ranging from Fair to Very Good Condition :
F 88484474 T
L 93636887 T
B 07665211 U
L 23697996 V
B 59438832 X
B 57313735 Y
I also have a $1 that is in Good Condition and has the serial number :
K 77722777 C
Lastly, I read that 'birthday notes' are worth something and I found a $1 in Very Good Condition with the serial number :
L 11171981 I
Thanks for your help

All the values are for general notes, older notes of course have more value.
Well, that is some good news and since you answered so quickly, I have a few more questions
A $1 bill like another 'birthday note' in Good Condition with a serial number :

And lastly, a common $20 bill, 'Series 2004', with a star, in near-uncirculated condition, and has a serial number :

dime 1989 that looks like it got double die just on the rim next to the liberty, almost like it was struck not in the center
The slight doubling of the rim does not bring any extra value and may lower whatever value it already has, it is a minor misalignment error. It is very common on dimes.

Yes I meant to say $80.00 but accidental pressed "3". This is for Crisp-Uncirculated if the bill was circulated or folded it would be $60.00 or less.

All the notes that are perfectly crisp it would be worth saving even if now they have only a little value.
Your 1985 $1 H-E is semi-key because it had a unusually low printing.
$5 FF 00809922* it is a 2003
About $25.00 in crisp-uncirculated.
There were 4,352,000 made for your serial number.
The book is the Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S. Paper Money 8th edition by Schwartz and Lindquist.
Hi I work at a bank and rund into thousands of dollars worth of star notes that i collect for a customer. Should I be keeping them for myself? What star notes should i pay more attention to when it comes to valu?

The thing is that most star notes is while the are worth 2 times or more face value unless in perfect condition it is hard to sell.
Collectors also have a better network to sell or trade notes. It also may take years before the value increases.
If you decide to keep notes for any reason look for high grade notes, very crisp.
Look for very low numbers like A00000012*.
Also older notes.
But the real key is to know the print run, if 320,000 or less it's worth saving.
Google "uspapermoney serial number table" exactly and it should be the first result. The table there is confusing but just look at the extreme right and do the math for runs 320,000 or less.
I have a $100 1963 w/ the star note serial number L 00523800* It has been in circulation and has one fold. Other than that, it's in pretty good condition. Do you think its worth more than face value?
$100 1963 w/ the star note serial number L 00523800* It has been in circulation and has one fold.
Must be a 1963-A about $135.00.
Hi Man,
I was interested in your opinion on the $100 repeater that I was given at the bank. It is a Series 1996 $100 bill with a serial number of AB07070727 X with District below #B2 (New York, NY). Has a plate position of G1. The bill is in extra fine condition. Little work except middle. Thanks in advance.
Series 1996 $100 bill with a serial number of AB07070727 X
Not a true repeater so I would not give it any extra value.
Hi, I have a $100 bill with star note:
2001 CE 01185730
Fine grade.
Thanks, regards.
