Dolla Dolla Bill Y'all

Do you have a bill and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

Whew! I've been flooded with currency question over the past month. It is a good thing because it shows people are collecting. I understand that it is harder these days to find older or unique coins which is why notes are getting more popular.

This Small-Size Currency book is the best book for looking up modern currency prices although the values listed are slightly high. A modern note is any small size from 1928 until now.

As for where to sell your newly found bills, hmmm that is more difficult. If you don't know a good coin dealer then I suggest eBay or join a coin forum.

For most circulated notes you can expect to get $2.00 over the face value.
In crisp-uncirculated expect double face value.

Here are some notes to look out for...
Bill: $1 1935A serial #M-A (only two notes are known, but hey you never know)
Value: $8,250.00 in CH-CU($250.00 increase since 2008)

Bill: $5 1928D serial #F-A
Value: $6,000.00 in CH-CU($1,000.00 increase since 2008)

Bill: $100 1981 serial #E-*
Value: $3,000.00 in CH-CU

Other notes like $1 1988A Web-Fed Press Printings average $50.00. These were made with a special machine for a short run. They are by there serial numbers and are semi-rare.

Keep up with the questions and if find any special notes then I'll post them also. Recently I found a $1 1969C #F-B which is not worth anything more than $1.00 in circulated condition.
I also found a $20 bill from 2004 that has four zeros making it worth $22.50, not much but still cool.

Do you have a bill and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

This is due to bleaching. Probably sun-bleaching it is not a possible error since there is no yellow pigment in the ink and can only turn yellow when exposed to a bleaching agent.

I found two one dollar bills with what I think are unique serial numbers. E90999923B 2006 and E06360634B 2003. Are these unique and if so does it increase the value. Both are still crisp but have been folded. Thank you for your time.

The bill is about $4.00 but why was it sent to certain families? That may bring extra value if it has any historic significance.

About $550.00 in very fine in higher grades they go thousands, the bleed through may lower the value if minor.

Would it be wise to get it graded professionally?

If you believe the bill is high quality, no folds, mo stains, and generally high eye appeal then yes.

I don't know the current cost for grading but with a membership it should be discounted.

E-A does have a premium but not E-B.
E-B in CH-CU is about $160.00.
CH-CU means Choice-Crisp-Uncirculated which is on a scale of 1-70 these notes are 63-64. They are excellent in every way but are not perfect and can does not have eye appeal.

1950 series D $100 bill serial number B168574xxA. any idea of approx values? both are is pretty decent condition, but NOT perfect.
Pretty decent sounds like EF-40 about $110.00.

Man said...

1981 100 E-A serial had a premium? you said "E-A has a premium but not E-B" several posts ago.

In Choice Crisp-Uncirculated that have been graded the 1981 $100:
E-A is $220
E-B is $140
E-* is $3,000

But your description of red ink would drop it to below crisp hence little extra value.
Most collectors wanting all three of the 1981 $100 would not settle for a marked note.

Hello there,

Today at work a guy paid with a 1950 $5 bill.

It is circulated, has a few folds..

The serial number is B12841523 *star*

It says on the bottom "Will pay to the bearer on demand five dollars" and does not say In God we trust. I was telling my brother about it and I mentioned the star at the end of the serial number he got interested in it, so I was wondering if it was worth anything.

I also have a 1988 $20 bill but I will be using that to buy my frist drink this Saturday ;) 21 year old bill for my 21st birthday.

Hey I have a $1 bill, series 1988 A, serial number F56303502X, says Atlanta, Georgia on the seal and in pretty worn condition (large crease line through the middle). However, it's cut wrong; the top line of the bill after it is at the bottom and it is missing its own top line. I have three other bills too:

A $20 series 1934, serial # J27232704A, big J in the seal. Almost perfect condition, just a small crease down the center.

A $10 series 1934 A, serial # D54965808A, big D in the seal. Worse condition than the twenty, a big ragged on the edge, darker color, and a crease longways and through the middle.

A $10 series 1950 C, serial # D29335960C, big D in the seal. It's in good condition, a crease through the middle and one corner folded a bit and a small tear in the other side.

Thanks! This is an awesome site!

--It is difficult only an expert can tell in hand. People often use old paperto fake these so it is difficult to tell unless you are an expert.

I was told at a coin shop that they were in ceral boxes in the 20's and 30's.. Is that true?
--No, cereals did put any "prizes" inside until 1945.
Copies of confederate notes were in boxes of Cheerios and a few other cereals in the 50s and 60s.

I have a 1950 $10 Bill Serial number G02848470I in decent condition. Some creases. I doubt it's worth much, but it's still pretty cool to find something that's 36 years older than me.

Actually this is a 1950-E note it's about $30.00.

The E means it was printed around 4/1965-10/1966 so it is only 20-21 years older than you.

The Ink error does not add value and recheck the serial it should be AG-B but wither way no extra value.
