A Slice of Sicilian

Do you have a coin and want to know how much it's worth? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

I got this coin and it's my first non-English ancient coin, thanks Kiefer. Here is a quick scan because my photo skills gets worse each day.

Here are two better images by the original owner.

The top image is of a cross pattée with pellets at end of each serif and the edge has written, +•SICILIE•.

The bottom image is of the letter M and the edge has written, +•AyNFR’REX.

I'm not that familiar with coins that are 750 years old but I've been trying. I got a Spinks book for my English coins but nothing for this Sicilian type. I know that it's about 16mm and 0.61 grams.

This is a Mandfredi type because Manfred was crowned the ruler of the kingdom of Sicily on August 11, 1258 and died in battle on February 26, 1266.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: Denaro/Sicily
Year: 1256-1266, Messina Mint
Mintages: Not known
Metal: Taris 16 & 1/3 carats, Billon Denari, and Oboli 1/48 fine(2.08 Silver)
Value: $15.00 at least that is what the tag says

I had to do quite a bit of searching Coin Directory to find this information.

4 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

Bought several coins at a little bead store for 5 cents a piece and am wondering if you can see if I scored?

7 - 1933 Un Peso Republica de Chile

One of these had been stamped over on the front beneath the condors feet with a 5 inside a simple shield shape. It wiped out the UN on the back.. Did they change the value or something?

1954 and 1959 Belgie 20 Centime Copper Coin

1958 Cuba Centavo with very lightly colored parallel striations in a light brown diagonally acrss the front. Not scratches just change in color

1923 Repuslika Ceskoslovenska small copper denomination 5

1948 France 1 Franc Aluminum

1949 Rzeczpospolita Polska 1 Grosz

1964 Columbia Deiz Centavos

1964 Sierra Leone Half Cent

and last but not least

1cm irregularly round/square copper ancient looking 'coin' with Eastern writing. One side looks like a small cusive 'b' into an uncrossed 't' with a circle in the space created by the tail of the 't'
above a cursive 'ie' and a 4 with an open top.

The other side has a backwards z U 1 9 above a horizontal line with a cup at the end.

I have a picture but didn't know how to post.

Thank you

Sounds like either Nepal or Tibet but it is hard to say.

Just post pictures on a free site like photobucket or imageshack and drop me a link.
