Do you have a Canadian coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you
Canada Day is the day on July 1 1867 when four little Canadas became one big country. Pardon me if I got glossed over a few details.
Apparently besides parades, a day off, and flag waving they graciously dump millions of their coins into our change. The two I just found are repeats for me. Both are very common and smell nothing like Canadian bacon (ham in the U.S.).
This is my fourth 1978 Canadian nickel and third 2006 Canadian cent.
The one interesting thing about the cent is that it is a copper plated zinc no mintmark/logo. There are five varieties two zinc cores( no logo or RCM logo) and three steel cores( P logo or no logo or RCM logo). This one I found is the most common.
Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 1 Cent / Canada
Year: 2006
Mintage: 886,275,000
Metal: 98.4% Zinc, 1.6% Copper
Value: $0.02 in F
Type/Country: 5 Cents / Canada
Year: 1978
Mintage: 137,079,273
Metal: 100% Nickel
Value: $0.07 in F
Continuing the Canada Day celebrations let me show you most of my found Canadian coins.
The 500+ coins are in a Polo Grounds Stadium tin that plays Take Me Out to the Ball Game when the lid is lifted.
A closer look into the box you'll see a tombac five cent, a few proofs, very old cents, and many common circulating coins. Not pictured are many older purchases and cents with verdigris damage that I seperate since they will infect other coins.
So congrats on confederation Canada and yes I will continue to enjoy your spare change.

Nie tin! We could add it to the "Loose coin cointainers" group in Flickr!
I reached my 200 flickr limit and will not go pro.
Your 2006 1-cent coin can worth 500$ CAN dollar if it is magnetic.
Your 2006 1-cent coin can worth 500$ CAN dollar if it is magnetic.
I'm aware of the steel variety but it is mostly listed at $5.00 not $500.00.
There's 5 varieties of the 2006 1-cent Canada coin.
1. 1 cent 2006 - No magnetic
2. 1 cent 2006 - Magnetic (worth approx. 500$ CAN)
3. 1 cent 2006 P (worth approx. 10-15$ CAN)
4. 1 cent 2006 Logo - No magnetic
5. 1 cent 2006 Logo - Magnetic
The 'P' or the 'Logo' are under the bust of the queen. You're 2006 1-cent coin have no 'P' and no 'Logo'. Then,, it's the #1 (not mangetic) or #2 (magnetic).
Btw, I like your blog.
I know of the varieties I own the 2009 Charlton Coin Guide 63th edition of Canadian Coins.
I always keep a magnet near by to check.
The one pictured is not magnetic.
Thanks, if you don't mind I'm adding you to my links.
No problem. If, one day, you're looking hardly for one or several common canadian coins, you can ask me and I will send them to you.
I found a Canadian cent from 1979. How much is it worth? Thanks.
Canadian cent from 1979 about $0.03
I have a 2006 Canadian cent with a P but non-magnetic. I wonder how much it's worth?
2006 Canadian cent with a P but non-magnetic
AS far as I know this is not possible, the P means it is a steel core coin.
Try weighing it, a zinc core would be 2.25 grams and if P it would be an error possibly worth thousands.

Its true!
I have a 2006P Non Magnetic Canadian cent that is ICCS MS 65. Had a guy offer me $900 at the Torex Coin show last month and I declined. The Trends show it between $5 and 8 hundred. I think its worth a lot more. I have been told that since these very rare pennies are not for sale that often that it is difficult to set a price on it. Therefore once upon a time one sold betwwen 5 and 8 hundred hence the trend.

Very nice and very rare. I would have taken the $900. You are correct about the trends since it would either take a major auction sale or at least a few graded ones to get an accurate value. I tried to to track down that other sale but found no info.
Assume the coin guy offered you 50% value that is a great find which would agree with I originally said "it would be an error possibly worth thousands. "
Great find congrats.
Thanks for your insight, it is greatly appreciated. I think I will hold on to this coin for a little while longer.
I have been searching for one on Ebay and at auctions for about a year but I cant seem to find one anywhere.
Call me crazy but even if someone offered me $1500, I dont think I would part with it. Its just too rare. In saying that, someone may show up with a bag of them for certification causing the value to drop drastically. A chance I will have to take I guess.
Thank you for reading and listening.
i have what says to be "one penny" on it it also has what looks to be a crown(not the reg queen one) on top of a gate type thing with chains on either side, then on the back of it has queen e with the new crown and a date of 1989 on it. it is also a bit bigger than a real penny.

Hello :)
I have a 1969 Canadian penny that I hope you can help me with. This was given to me by a wonderful friend who told me this could be extremely rare...I hope so! What makes it interesting is that the queen's head is at a full 180 degree rotation. Do you have any idea of the value or if this has been heard of before?
Thank you for any information you can provide.
