1944 Lincoln, Wheat Ears Reverse

Do you have a penny and want to find out its value? Leave a comment and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

Half all of the traffic to this blog are inquiries about the 1944 U.S. Cent. I've posted it about in the past and still most visitors disregard the entry and still ask if the coin is super-valuable.

I'm truly sorry but it's not.

Even if you were to find one in Mint State 65, no trace of wear, barely noticeable blemishes, and full red color, it would only be worth $3.00 in retail and $0.50 average buyer's price.

Finding this well circulated 1944 cent in my change marked the 20th time I found this particular coin. The only reason I don't put it back in circulation is over fears I'll find it again. There are 14 known Doubled Die Obverses and 3 Doubled Die Reverses all hold a small premium. There are some made from the 1943 steel blanks worth thousands and other off-metal errors worth a lot.

Here's the stat...
Year: 1944
Mintage: 1,435,400,000
Metal: 95% copper 5% zinc
Value: G-4 $0.02 or VF-20 $0.10 or EF-40 $0.20

Still if you have question about this coin feel free to ask. I understand that finding a 65 year old coin is still something special.

Do you have a wheat cent and want to find out its value? Leave a comment and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

I have a 2003 1 dollar bill that is obviously smaller by at least 1/8 inch than any other 2003 I have compaired it to. The overall actual size is smaller and the graphics are also smaller but it looks real in every other way. Do I have a fake or is it a printing error. Also, if it is real does it have any value other than its face value of $1.00?

I have a 2003A series $1 bill. Its overall lenght is 5/8 inch smaller than other 2003 $1 bills and 5/16 smaller in height. Additionally, Washingtons Portrait is smaller. It's width measures 1 3/16. Sounds real just shrunk due to humidity or wetness, no extra value.

Again this is normal shirnage since it is not paper but cloth used to make thesr bill they will shrink when wet even from the mint they can get a cleaning solution that shrinks the cotton.
No extra value.

Man- I did some coin sorting this weekend, and came away with a few interesting finds. Just wanted to get your opinion on a few...

I can barely tell, but it is either a 1919 or a 1949 (thinking it is 49 because of the spacing) D or S mint wheat penny. It is worn in just the wrong spot :\

(several other wheat pennies)

1972 S mint penny in fairly good condition.

1942 Canadian 1 Cent (unsure of mint...don't know what to look for/where).

1948 Nickel

1958 Dime (D mint)

Unfortunately if it is so worn that the date is partially gone it is just $0.03.

1972 S mint penny in fairly good condition.
About $0.02

1942 Canadian 1 Cent
These older Canadian cents did not have mintmarks, only the new ones or the 1800s may have them.
About $0.10

1948 Nickel about $0.10

1958 Dime (D mint) about $1.00

The dime would be the best to keep since it is silver again unfortunately this week the price of silver dropped, last week this dime was $1.50, a year ago it was $2.00.

I have found a 1977 penny that seems to have a mark from another coin pressed into it. I clearly has a backwards E P and then fades out. I also has an imprint of something on the rim. Any suggestions on value?

Sounds damaged, exposing the zinc core.

It also could be a partial Missing Clad error on cents it is about $5.00 depending on eye appeal.

Hello, while going through my mothers coin collection I found 4 wheat cents, two where the back of the coin is not there, one 1944, one 1945...two where the front of the coin is not there ?

I tried to put these, front and rear back to back, but they are then larger than the standard us cent...

Have you ever heard of this before or is this something that someone did as a joke ?

If real about $100,000.00 that said about 27 have been found and thousasnds of fakes eixst.

It must be graded to verify. Or at least have a trusted error expert to see it in hand.

I find more 1946 Wheats than I find the turnoff 1944. I have 35 1946 wheats and only 13 1944 wheats.

And It gets silly when people think the 1944 penny is worth $100.00.
