I can admit it I like the coin books as much as the coins themselves. Something about the history and vast information all in one place is great. Keeping up with the trend I upgraded my 61st edition of Canadian Coins with the 63rd edition.
The first thing you notice is the dramatic increase in value. For example...
- 61st Ed. One cent 1982 in MS-63 Red/ Circulated = $1.00 (Canada Dollar)
- 63rd Ed. One cent 1982 in MS-63 Red/ Circulated = $5.00 (Canada Dollar)
Another part is the the new mint mark is now called Maple Leaf Logo I have been calling it either mint logo or RCM (Royal Canadian Mint) logo.

the cheapest place I found was again Amazon because of the free shipping it was just $15.96, spiral bound is the best.
Pictured right out of the box.One thing that makes this book superior is that the variety images are all black and white photographs. Varieties are very difficult to see in color pictures so black and white really shows through plus they circle the exact spots so you know what your looking to find.
A few color images would be nice especially with the new colored quarters. The book has increased by 36 pages to 458. Mostly because a huge ten cent variety section.

What would have made the values across the board jump up?
More Canadian coins are getting professionally graded and the grading companies report them.
The lack of very high grades on modern coins make the few that are graded high jump in value. If someone is hoarding some nice coins and decides to flood the market then they will drop again.
Metal prices also plays a small role.

I have a 2003 P Canadian Cent and it has the younger image of the Queen, not the one that was introduced that year. Is this a mismatch or did they produce both? I have found about 30 others, and they all have the older image. Coincidence?

They produced both, actually five kinds.
P means it was made of Multi-Ply Plated Steel
2003 older Queen 56,877,144 made
2003 young Queen 92,219,775 made
2003-P young Queen 235,936,799 made
2003-P older Queen 591,257,000 made
2003-WP older Queen sold in special sets
None are rare and only the 2003-WP has a small premium.

Just $0.05 although half as many were compared to the "old head" it is still over 31 million minted so it is common.
What about the Canada Nickel dated 1997, don't see mant of those.

Current metal values have it about $0.13 each post-1982 about $0.07 each.
Collectors still pay just face value since a drop in metal values can happen.
I also keep them and if you have the space and plans for them it is fine. But using them will be no big loss.

It is damaged and any attempt to "fix" it will do more damage, it's about $2.50 mostly for metal value.

None are special, but 1970 exactly does have a lower mintage and in higher grades thre is slightly higher value.

The leaves are round and not pointy.
The reverse has crown on the top is a cross on the horizontal part of the cross it would look like a bar is underneath.
A normal example would just have a cross nothing else.
The rare one would have the cross and two bar/sticks appear under the horizontal cross.
