Proof Perfect...Almost

Do you have a proof coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

Several months back I got my highest graded proof coin from gyocomgd. They were graded by PCGS and all are PR69DCAM which means Proof-69-Deep-Cameo. Proof 70 is the only higher grade and deep cameo is a grade given to coins that exhibit a more cameo look with a frosted bust or head and a mirror like background.

Now how do I judge value for these. The Red Book only goes up to Proof-65 and doesn't mention Deep Cameo.
If I go to eBay and these have sold as low as $2.00 and as high as $29.95. So whatever the book price is I'll go 5 times the value that seems right because the market for these "slabbed" coins goes up and down wildly.

Here's the stats for these four coins...
Type: 10 Cents
Year: 1977-S
Mintage: 3,251,152
Metal: 91.67% Copper, 8.33% Nickel
Value: PR69DCAM $14.00

Type: 10 Cents
Year: 1982-S
Mintage: 3,857,479
Metal: 91.67% Copper, 8.33% Nickel
Value: PR69DCAM $16.00

Type: 5 Cents
Year: 1989-S
Mintage: 3,220,194
Metal: 75% copper 25% nickel
Value: PR69DCAM $32.00

Type: 5 Cents
Year: 1980-S
Mintage: 3,554,806
Metal: 75% copper 25% nickel
Value: PR69DCAM $12.00

These value are just my average prices I saw at one moment in time if you can buy them for less then I quoted or sell it or more then listed, good luck.

Values update for 2012.

have a 1924 D Buffalo nickel, its listed as f-12in the little wrapper it's in. Found it in a drawer; on the back of the little wrapper it says mlxx b-10 but I think those marks were just the sellers marks. Can see the 1924 on the nickel not sure about any D though.

1924D nickel f-12
F-12 means fine 12 out of 70 points.
I'm not sure what this(mlxx b-10)means.
The mint mark D is located under the FIVE CENTS on the reverse.

This is a great coin in F-12 it is about $25.00. I bought one for $18.00 and a friend sold one for $15.00 so that should give you an idea on real coin dealers value as opposed to the book value.

Great find congrats!

Face Off...

I have a 1966 Canadian penny with a perfect back but no face. Is this coin worth anything?

1966 Canadian penny error

Well one side errors are usually fake. The front should have some evidence of the design if real.

Even if real it would be $2-$10.

I have a 1964 Jefferson Nickel that I found in my change. It is so shiny and flawless. There are few if any scratches on it. The reverse side is so detailed, with all of the steps of the building showing. Could this be a proof nickel that someone stuck in circulation? or just a coin that was recently put in circulation? And, what would you think it is worth? Thanks a bunch

It is very possible that it's a proof because other people I know have found proofs in their change.

Even if not proof the way you describe it is a high mint state worth about $1.00 unfortunately 1964 is a very common year.

I'm interested in finding out the value of a 2006 perfect mint state silver eagle Thanks for your help.

2006 perfect mint state silver eagle

Assuming it was graded MS-70 it's about $200.00.

If your is ungraded and just looks mint state then it's about $20.00.

Proof coins are worth much more.

my son found a gold 1968 nickel..
is this for real??? its perfectly shiney and pretty!

gold 1968 nickel.

It is a real nickel covered in a thin layer of cheap gold making it is a novelty item.

As a coin collectible it has no extra value, but it usually sells for $1.00 to $4.00 as a novelty.

I have not seen any true doubling in this year but if it's not machine doubling it would be about $1.00.

Hello, I am a new metal detectorist. I found a 2015 S Native American Gold dollar that appears like a first strike. It was in PCGS container marked PR69CAM. Can you explain this and its value? Thank you in advance for your help and support.

Best Wishes,
Joe

The 2015-S were made only for collectors, through the San Francisco mint.
First Strike means it was the first run of coins minted, these are usually sharper and more detailed.
PR69CAM means Proof 69 out of 70 where 70 is perfect, CAM means cameo which is the look of the coin, like those old cameo brooches.

If in a PCGS container than they can be tracked via the bar code, in case it was stolen a coin dealer can confirm it so they don't get in trouble for buying stolen merch.

Pretty common about $10.00 or less.
