Nepal and Plastic

Do you have a foreign coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

A PCGS slabbed coin is one that was submitted to a professional grading service and placed in a coin safe holder. You pay a fee to have the coin graded and using the 1-70 system they send you back what they believe the coin's grade is and from there you can determine what the market value should bring. Here's their site http://www.pcgs.com/.

This is my first PCGS slabbed coin.

Here's the stats for this coin....
Type/Country: 4 Paisa / Nepal
Year: 1955
Mintage: Unknown.
Metal: Brass
Value: XF-45 $3.00+ because it is verified. Maybe only a few cents more.

A slight update on my collection so far. I've recently bought some silver dimes on eBay, nothing special, and found some foreign coins in my change but older U.S. coins have been few that I've got from pocket change. Mostly the 1944 and 1946 wheat cents, which as you know are barely worth twice face value. Hopefully I'll have money to spend over the holidays and get some nice coins from all the holiday shopping.

It's about $0.30 in fine it is one of the lower minted centavos. Not rare but still a nice coin.

Although deleted I'll still answer.

1968 American five cent peice that has a hole just above the date, it has the shape of a key hole. I can not imagine what kind of tool would make this but I thought maybe a mint fault.

It is made outside the mint with simple metal working tools.
It is considered damage and has no extra value.

I have a copper coin that has an animal (possibly a griffin or lion) standing on a pedestal on one side and foreign, hindi-like inside two branches with a circle over them.

Could you tell me what this coin is?

Thanks

I'm sorry I cannot recognize the coin or country. It is too worn.

I am a member there and will look under more countries than just Nepal which is what I thought it was.

No the stylized lion is not Nepalese.

Looks Burmese but I've not seen the wreath outside of Arab countries.

I would not think it is Arab because the letters/numbers inside the wreath look southeast or south Asian.

Thanks for the tip!!! I indentified the coin as a km#25.1 Burma 1/4 PE 1878

Oh I limited my search to 1900 or later but at least I saw it was Burmese.

That coin in that shape is about $2.00 but I think yours is a KM# 25.2 1/4 PE (Pice)
because on the reverse the Flower petals at the top of wreath diagonal.

Both 25.1 and 25.2 have equal value.
