10 Dollar Star Note

Do you have currency and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

I did not start collecting notes/paper currency until even after I had some two dollar bills. I used the two dollar bills to buy stuff and years later when I started collecting again I vowed to find more two dollar bills.

Eventually I found the two dollar bills from many years and expanded my notes to old dollars and also star notes.

Star notes are replacement bills used by the government when regular issues are defective. They are rarer then regular notes.

I got this 10 dollar from my change. It is near perfect.

Notice the star at the end of the serial number.

Here's the stats for this $10 bill...
Type/Federal Bank: $10 Star Note / Richmond
Serial Number Span: BE-* BE03 840 000*
Year: 1999
Printings: 675,200
Value: CU(crisp uncirculated) $60.00

Finding star notes is not difficult but most people just pass them on and not all of the worth so much.

Do you have currency and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

481 dollars worth, for Comments/Questions click here.:

About $20.00 if real, these are very common and yes fakes exist.

Look I have a lot of old us bills including $2 dollar bills ( red and green) $5 dollar bills (red green and blue) $10 dollar bills (green and blue)$20 dollar bill (green) Oh and the dollar bills with the blue stamp all of them i was wondering if some of those old bills was worth a lot.

On average 3 times face value.
That said a lot depends on serial number, back number and condition.

For instance in Very-Fine a 1934 $20 bill with C-A serial number is $25.00.
But if the back number is 204 it's $120.00.
But if the back number is less than 317 it's $30.00.

It can get real complicated and aside from buying a currency book there are no good sites to check value.
Although I can estimate since I own tons of books and resources.

How do you price a star note?

I use currency books, magazines, and listed graded notes online.

The 2006 and 2009 star notes temporarily have a higher value until the actually amount of notes are known.

Price drops is the final printing is over 640,000 and increases if under 640,000. Of course grade matters but I assume that are very-fine unless you say different.

--Nothing special about 1,664,000 printed which is normal for star notes.

I was hoping you could let me know if any of these are worth trying to sell.
--The 1977A is the best to sell in Crisp-Uncirculated, but if not graded they will not bring the most value.
Unless you think the notes are perfect they are not worth grading.

Two possibilities...
1. A fake made by someone, no extra value. (Not likely since $10 cost too much to fake)

2. An error known as Partial Missing OverPrint that is about $150.00.

Pictures would not help much as it needs to be examined carefully in hand.

My concern is that if this is a true error the Secret Service will keep it and send you a new $10 only worth $10.

Thanks for the quick response!
The secret service sent it back to me with a letter saying it was genuine. I set my profile picture with the bill in question

The secret service sent it back to me with a letter saying it was genuine.

If selling keep the letter and bill together as proof.

The bill is very circulated possibly a Fine (F-12) so I will stick to $150.00 maybe a bit less.

Currently one on eBay is at $330 Very Fine (VF-35) but that is a bit high priced.
