What's Left

Do you have a coin/bill and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

My favorite part of this blog is still answering everyones questions so keep it up.

I've been so busy with school and strapped for cash that I had little time to get new coins. I have been getting more coin books as I look into expanding my collection to older, ancient or gold coins.

For fun here is a coin I found in my coin jar that is slightly special.
Can you tell what is different about it?

How do you know the worth of the money do you have books or do you look on line?
I love this web site
Keep up the hard work for us

Man said...

How do you know the worth of the money do you have books or do you look on line?

Books, magazines, gray & green sheets when possible, also catalogs and online(eBay, forums, other bloggers).
I no longer check dealers in person because they have proven to be too different in each region.

Yes this would be a "narrow" variety and a new high serial number for that variety.
It's about $25.00.

uncut uncirculated $2 dollar bills, sequential numbers, some blue lettering.

Depends on year, serial number, and sheet size.
The most common are just 2-3 times face value of notes.

What's up Man. Great stuff here, by the way.
Brings me back to my coin collecting days, and how I used to check every coin and bill I got.
I located a 1950 C $10 Bill - Serial #B49027243H
Front lower right corner #D396
Back lower right corner #1716
Also, what's with the upsidedown flag on the back ?
Thanks

Man said...

1950 C $10 Bill - Serial #B49027243H

About $12.50

Also, what's with the upsidedown flag on the back ?

There is no such thing.
That is an optical illsuion.
The flag on a ten dollar bill should be waving so to emphasize the wave the designer elongated the fold and it look like it's upside-down since the shadow is being mistaken for the field of stars.
Later issues improved the wave, changed the wind direction but no error ever existed.

I have four for you, none spectacular, but I'm still curious:
1950B $5 bill with serial #G16332890D
(Would be very fine, save for a single tear up from between the "D" and "O" in "Dollars"

1976 $2, Serial #E52346308A very crisp and un-creased

1964 Quarter: silver, well circulated.

1989 Quarter: uncriculated.

From the numbers you gave it sounds real and very common it is about $12.50.

The letter "G" appears in the circle to the left of Andrew Jackson's portrait that states its from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Illinois.
Ser.# G14616508B
I would say it is in very good condition.
No tears, unmolested corners and the only fold is very rounded one in the middle, as if it was in a man's wallet for a short time (I actually got this from a woman).
Otherwise, crisp and appears to have been used very little, although I wouldn't say it "looked new".

Hello!
I found a 1950 series E $5 bill today when sifting through the money in my wallet. The number is B26692156 with a star at the end. I has some light folds but is in quite good condition for the year. Is it worth anything more then $5?

About $3.00
This is the most common of the silver certificates with over 5 billion made.
They were redeemable for $1 in silver but no longer, they are still considered legal tender.

Okay well i've got a series 1950c 10 dollar bill. Serial number A72804735C number on front lower right corner: E364 number on back lower right corner: 1799

Hello, wonderful site...I thank you in advance for any help. I have an uncirculated $5.00 which has a front offset, dramatic (black L seal for San Francisco is in the portrait). This bill is from 1974, and serial # is L 90496780 C. I also have the bill preceeding it (779) and the bill after it (781), which are both normal. I was vault teller when these bills arrived from the Main Vault. As I was counting them, #780 jumped out at me! Needless to say, I called in my supervisor and bought them. Do you have an idea on their value, and where should I sell them? Thanks in advance, Bryn (posted earlier in wrong catagory, Australian, oops, so now I've posted here)

Yes this is in very low grade and mostly for the silver content as silver approaches $30 an ounce expect this quarter to go up.

His mouth is different because of a Die Clash error. The back of the coin was stamped on the front giving it an odd look.

Sounds like a Misaligned strike error, generally no extra value.

1969s double die pennies if strong doubled die it is $4,500.00 but most of the weak ones are just $2.00.

1988 dime with crunched edges??? I have no idea what this means.

All these coins should be photographed well because they can either be great errors or simple damage.
Use a free photo site like imageshack and then either link them here or email it to other experts.
