Technically this is a People's Republic of China coin but that is way to long for a title. China makes lots of commemorative Yuans but the one I am showcasing is just the regular circulating issue.
Chinese coins of any era are not uncommon to find. The main reason is that they have been made in the hundreds of millions since the early 1900s.

The edge has RMB three times with an incused diamond between each RMB. RMB mean Renminbi or sign: ¥; code: CNY; also CN¥, 元 and CN元 all means legal tender.
ZHONGGUO RENMIN YINHANG means Peoples Bank of China or 中國人民銀行 which is written on the front.

ReplyDeleteNo a Yi Jiao coin is 1 Jiao.
1 Jiao = 1/10 Yuan
or 10 Jiao = 1 Yuan
So it is a lesser coin, if it has an Orchid on the back then it was made in 1999 or later it should be aluminum and about $0.10 in very-fine.
So a Jiao is like a penny and a Yuan is like a dime? On the back, it looks like it has two flowers.

ReplyDeleteSounds like an Australian 20 Cents coin about $1.75 in very-fine. The back design is a Duckbill Platypus swimming.

Even if a error it is such low quality that it does not bring extra value.

It is about $0.02 in exchange value.

They are all common and usually made of stainless steel.
