How Times Changes Change

Do you have a new or old coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment

Got these coins a few weeks ago and finally got to write about them.

The first is a cent from the Bahamas, but wait you may recall I found one back in June of 2009 yet the design has changed. They went from one starfish to three, well one and two halves. I guess inflation is hitting everyone. Although I suspect the intricate design of the original starfish coin was causing problems since the few I've seen all have die cracks.

The second find was a 1919 U.S cent which is now 91 years old is my oldest find this short year. It is a bit hazy and newly banged up but still in good shape for an old wheat cent.

The Bahamas cent was a find at Johnny Rockets while the cent came from a local supermarket, not bad for a little bit of unhealthy snacking.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 1 Cent / Bahamas
Year: 2006
Mintage: Unknown
Metal: Copper Plated Zinc
Value: $0.05 in VF (Note: the picture is not correct in any of the current Krause world books.)

Type/Country: 1 Cent / United States
Year: 1919
Mintage: 392,021,000
Metal: 95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc
Value: $0.20 in G-4

Do you have an old or new coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

  7. Hi,
Remember the off-center 1 dollar bill I mentioned in your earlier post, well, it doesn't show another dollar, but it is slightly off-center, a significant portion of the left and top sides have more blank paper than the bottom and right sides.
    Here are the pics:

    No extra value.

A dollar note is not supposed to be exactly centered so even large white gaps are normal.

  10. Hi:

I'm trying to learn the current market value of a crisp $50 bill, which is missing its serial number (both sides of the portrait) as well as the eagle emblem to the left of the portrait, the one that has Federal Reserve written around it.

  12. Dear "Man":

I live in the LA area, any idea where I could offload this collectible? Or is ebay the best way to go about it?

    Thank you for your thoughts...

    Regards,

EBay is the best but you especially if it is not graded.

Other options are looking for dealers in your area that have a good reputation, you may have to go through the BBB to check.

Or try some currency forums and maybe a private collector.
