1940-D Nickel

The look of theses older nickels are so cool. They were pressed with extra pressure so when they get worn it leaves behind a nice silhouette.

The third year of the Jefferson nickel and each year they increased production. These were more common than previous nickels so today they have little extra value if circulated.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 5 Cents / United States
Year: 1940-D
Mintage: 43,540,000
Metal: 75% Copper 25% Nickel
Value: $0.10 in F-12

Do you have a nickel and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.
