2001 Canada Cent

Do you have a Canada cent and want to know its value? Leave a comment

Are you sure they stopped production? Found my 432nd Canada cent at the same store where I bought gum drops and got many coins on prior visits (hint: the cashier knows I like strange money).

This one is quite dirty for such a new coin. I suspect some trauma like a small fire or it fell into a puddle.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 1 Cent / Canada
Year: 2001
Mintage: 919,358,000
Metal: Copper-Plated Zinc
Value: $0.01 in F

Since I found Canadian cents ranging from 1921-2011 all from my change I can realistically expect to find about 100 different types of these cents. I posted about 40 so far so I guess I will need to show off 60 more before I stop talking about these finds forever.

Do you have a cent from Canada and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

  1. 2001 cents are actually copper plated zinc, not bronze. Therefore, it may just be the beginning of zinc corrosion.

--Whoops another copy & paste error, sorry sometimes I forget to update.

--Not likely since there is more green oxidation from verdigris and black marks.
    Zinc corrosion is typically white.

  3. A small fire, eh? You have quite the imagination. :)

  4. I would think that it is nothing special. Look at a 2001 US penny, many are looking like the one in the picture.

True but then I would have nothing to blog about.

Yes I realize I'm stretching these posts a bit. Unfortunately my change finds are not as great as they use to be.

  9. I found what looks like a brand new 1962 nickel. It is extremely shiny and has no marks whatsoever. When I saw the back before the front, I could have sworn it was a 2011 nickel since it was so shiny and good looking.

I also got 2 more Presidential dollar coins, one Susan B Anthony dollar coin, and 2 Sacajawea One Dollar Coins.

Nice probably uncirculated at about $0.25.

That said it could also be a proof, I can only say they are really shiny and not that rare.
About $1.50 and if you Google "1962 proof nickel" you will see many examples.

  13. The 1940 cent is like G-4, though. My worst Canadian cent. My oldest circulation find is 1936-D quarter (US). I had like 9 dimes from circulation, too, traded them for a silver Canadian dollar.

That old quarter is cool, I don't think I found any U.S. silver quarters.

I have found Canadian silver quarters.

About $5,000.00 if the auction is done well possibly more but more than 20 have been found with another 50 yet to be verified.

If you're selling don't wait too long.
