Penny! Penny! Penny! That is right I used the slang term for cent. I am a rebel like that.
Seriously it is officially a cent but it is okay to say penny the term is interchangeable I will not deny common language. Even the U.S. mint uses the term on their official site.
Here is one wheat penny I recently found.
I must say it is nice to find an American coin in my change. I mean an older coin.

Got a grungy 1952S wheat penny in the change cup @ the grocery store yesterday. I usually don't find them in change, so it was a first for me.

ReplyDeleteAssumig a high grade of Mint State 65 it's about $6.00.
If it were Perfect (MS-70) it would be at least 100 times the value.
it has to be about ms 70 because it is perfect and its in a special holder so im sure that its perfect.so then would it really be worth 600 dollars?

ReplyDeletePerfect also means full steps on the back, at least 5 of the 6 steps should be visible.
But yes at least $600 possibly $1,200.
Here is a price guide that are slightly off compared to retail value but still good.

MS is mint state
FS is full steps where 6 of 6 steps are visible on the building in the back. (That would be over $20,000 if perfect.

ReplyDeletePCGS they ae strict on grading Full Step coins so even if there is a tiny mark on the steps they will downgrade them.

ReplyDelete6 steps of any nickel from the 1950s start at $5,000 ungraded. As long as you have good pictures of the steps it can be sold easier.

I think it is an Off-Center Georgia quarter that is about $50.00.

Again not counting news stories about coins sold for millions.
