Not a change find instead it was found on the floor of a Dunkin' Donuts along with some other cents. Apparently in Starbucks some can find a tenner but in lowly Dunkin' Donuts you must scrounge the floor for a cent.
It is my second 1977 Trinidad and Tobago cent find but my first this year. This does keep up with the pattern of foreign finds I find on a regular basis.
The obverse has the Coat of Arms of Trinidad and Tobago with the Scarlet Ibis, the Cocrico, and the hummingbird which is also featured on the reverse. The motto says TOGETHER WE ASPIRE, TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE like most mottoes is meant to unite a diverse country.A touch smaller, thinner, and lighter than a U.S. cent it still can pass especially since it is so dark in hand.

ReplyDeleteThe design may either be from Trinidad & Tobago or Cuba. The ship looks like a galleon.
I am stumped, because it is 2010 it is not listed in any printed catalog.
I suspect this is a token from some type of magazine or club.
But it can also an anniversary coin. Cuba is the most difficult to update and they have coins with Trinidad as a theme.
Sorry, that no official records exist.
That said online research suggest this...

Unless I see the original packaging I will say the above link is 50% correct, keep monitoring that thread and maybe the will 100% confirm it.
I will wait for the 2012 catalogs to see if it's listed and will update if I can.

on one side of the coin has the queen face & it reads 'QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND' on the other side of the coin there is the number 2 written kinda big at the center with a leaf looking like a fern around it..and it reads 'BRITISH CARIBBEAN TERRITORIES. i have a 1 cent trinidad and tobago coin 1966. coat of arms on the front is kind of worn, but the back is in decent shape. i found it in a roll of dimes. hope it is at least worth a dime, or I have been jipped.
