Hello Do you know anything about errors in dollar

I have a picture but how can I show you a picture? The normal cut and paste didn't work. After looking at it closer I see that the E is not stamped on both sides. It has actually bled through to the back. The E is very dark on the back and it is reversed. There are also four 5's that have bled through...as they are reversed, also. The serial number is only visible on the front.

Sounds like you have an Offset Error for one dollar bills its about $75 to $100.

An offset error in the 3rd printing of a bill can lead to the "letter seal" and the serial numbers to bleed through the back this is the most common of error notes but still valuable. In one case a 1981 5 dollar bill with a 1 dollar bleed through this of course is a rare and highly valuable.
As you see with the ten dollar error above the prices should be divided by about three for your 1 dollar, so Fine: $50.00 EF: $100.00 CU:$150.00 remember the market changes and see prices reflect the highest you may ever hope to get.

ReplyDeleteIf the entire back seems doubled then this is called a multiple printing error.
ReplyDeleteIf it is minor done when a loose roller smeared the ink it is $250.
If it is a strong true doubling then its $2500.
The stronger the doubling the more it is worth. With some modern notes this doubling has been faked with a color copier but yours seem genuine since you had for so long.

I have a 1990 100 dollar bill, where you can see several heavy imprints on the back of the bill. It is imprints from the front. One is the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the other imprint is the words ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS. The last imprint is extremely heavy and is outside the block body of print on the back. Is this considered an error bill? IF so, how much would it be worth and where would you sell it. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like an offset printing error, the value in extra-fine grade is $250.00.
If the error is a 100% offset where all of the ink leaked through the value in the same grade may double.

It is a common error, only rare on $2 bill but if it is real dark and was professionally graded your bill can be worth $1000.00

I have a 1957 $1 Silver certificate, the numbers the color is completely different from all the other $1 bills i have seen. I asked a coin collecter one time how much it was worth just for kicks. He told me that hes not to familier with dollars but he said it might be worth $20. Just want to have a second opinion. Thank you

Dateless buffalos sell for $0.25 mostly on the nickel value. They are often sold by the dozen on eBay. Very collectible.

This one is a partial offset on a dollar bill it is anywhere form $35.00 - $75.00 depending on how much is on the front.
Both of these errors are called offset printings and all though they are common in crisp they are sought by most collectors.

Now where can you sell it.
If you take it to the bank they will burn it and give you a dollar.

I have a 2001 one dollar bill that was misprinted. The information that is in the center of the bill is in the correct places, like that "L" and the Department of Treasury seal so are the serial numbers. However, the border and the picture of Washinton and slanted upward to the right and the bottom half is on top and the top half is on the bottom with a blank section in middle where it should have been cut. The back of the bill is normal. I forgot in my previous comment that the bill was in the middle of new one dollar bills that was dropped off at the store I managed. I would like to know the value of something like this?

ReplyDeleteA 1995 bill with a similar error went for $5,000.00 in crisp-uncirculated condition.
First get a good picture of both sides, put it online and then start contacting error dealers like Fred Weinberg and ask them for an estimate.

It sounds like an offset printing it is about $75.00 depending on how strong the second printing is.

2001 $10 bill that seems to have a bit cut off at the top.
This is a very minor cutting error not worth anything extra in perfect condition. It must have both part of the design cut and on the bottom a bit of the next bill showing.
Even if your bill had the design affected in that condition it would bring little or no extra over face value. Sorry.

For extremely-fine and a partial design...
The ink error is worth a little less at $75.00.
The missing overprint is worth about $125.00.
The hundred dollar bill that I have has full border on the face side, but on the back has very little border is showing and the overall bill is smaller than a normal $100.00 bill.

So the dollar bill had no motto until the 1935G series which came out in 1955-1956.
They are not worth anything extra but the bill maybe worth something depending on year and serial number.

This is a minor Faulty Alignment worth about $35.00 more if the bill is older than 1976.
The bill is exactly 1976. the front of the $2 is shifted to the left alot and there is a little piece of the next $2 bill to the right.

The 2006 is the year the design was originally made, only if a major modification happens will they update the year. These notes started printing in October of 2007 and are still being printed.
It's only worth $5.00.

So this error is just not possible.
But since nothing is 100% just scan the bill place it on imageshack or photobucket and they will tell you how to link it.

I have a 2006 series $1 bill that appears like the ink bled through to the back of the bill. All the ink except for the serial number and the seal has bled through to the other side. The bill has never been circulated. I found it at my job. I do the accounting for a grocery store. The bill came straight from the bank in a new bundle of bills, so I am positive it has never been circulated. Can you give me an idea about how much it may be worth.

It's a slight faulty alignment but not enough to bring in any extra value.
Just the opposite the gap and the tear brings down the value.
It is just a broken $5.00.
I have recently seen a 1995 $2 bill for sale in a pawn shop. It looks to be in great condition, and is kept in a plastic sleeve. The front has been printed over with the picture on the back. What makes this a little odd is that the over print of the back is in color like the back of the colorized $2 bill but I thought that the colorized $2 bill happened much later then 1995. I have not looked at the numbers on the bill, because it was under glass and I was just passing by. They have on the label, made by the pawn shop, "1995 double printed $2 Bill and their asking price is $550. They are a pawn shop so I know they label items wrong, but how can I spot if this is a fake, or could it be worth what they are asking. I have searched for a couple of days now, on the internet, but have not really had any success in this mater. Please help Thanks

ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as a "colorized" $2. Both the back and front of the $2 have not changed since 1976.
The color should be very dark black or rich green.
Unfortunately thanks to modern printers it is very difficult to tell. Only experts can tell.
If the face is on the back it should have no serial numbers and Jefferson facing left. It's about $750.00.
If the back is on the front it would have the serial number and Jefferson facing right. It's about $1,250.00.
well I ended up getting it and it is the back stamped over the front. The face is facing right with the numbers. It is the full picture and is in black. It isnt really dark but you can see everything. It is a star note and The numbers are F00516832* it is from the Federal Reserve of Atlanta, Georgia. The pawn shop is giving me thirty days if I want to bring it back if it is not authentic overprinting. I live in Hawaii and I need to find out where I can get this authenticated. If you have any suggestions, that would be a big help. I have noticed that there is a small number 2 in the right bottom corner on the back picture and it shows up on the overprint also. Its not damaged in any way, its an error in the ink process somehow. like the green ink wasn't complete so it left it blue and the other side green.

ReplyDeleteI understand but it can be easily faked. So few collectors have expressed an interest in these.
Since the ink used is solid green it can break down into blue unless exposed to UV light or harsh chemicals.

In most cases the star note is worth more.

It would have to graded or seen by an expert to make sure it is not fake and what the error actually turns out to be.

About 5/16 inch of another bill is to the left (on the front), and same amount of another bill (same bill?) appears to the right on back. The mis-printed items are: Serial Numbers, Treasury Seal, Letter Seal ("F" FRB Atlanta), and four black "sixes" (6). The bill is very crisp, but sadly, was in circulation when I received it (in change) many years ago. I can send a pic via email, but don't know how else. Any estimation of value? Thank you!

ReplyDeleteFirst this may be a Fed-Web note the back numbers next to the word TRUST should be 1-5 or 8-10 and the face is either 1-8.
All you described is one error "Faulty Alignment".
All together it would be about $175.00 possibly more if confirmed Fed-Web note of a high grade.

Hello, I am trying to find out if what I have is worth anything at all. I have a 1934 F series five dollar bill. Serial number #F15620555A. There are 4- black sixes, one on each corner. Also it appears that the front was printed at an angle while the back is completely straight.

ReplyDeleteThere is no 1934F series. You must be referring to the "F" in the Federal Reserve Seal.
This is a 1934 series it sounds like a Faulty Alignment error. Unless the front of the bill shows a piece of another then the error is minor. It would be about $20.00.

This is a Partial 3rd Printing Offset but I've not seen one for $100 bill only the $10 or less. I must estimate the value which is $25 for the error and then add the face value of the note.

ReplyDeleteThe ink marks are not good, it's impossible to verify if it was done by inspectors or not.
It's an Insufficient Ink Error it's about $35.00 it would've been three times as much if the pen-ink wasn't there. Actually there is a chance that it's less if the pen-ink is strong.

What you have is a Fed-Web note which may explain the odd inking. These motes were experimentally made using a continuous roll process.
Yours have some heavy folds but it's about $10.00 maybe more depending on serial numbers.

The Offset Printing would add about $200.00 but it needs to be authenticated by an error expert because lots of fakes have been floating around.

ReplyDeleteSounds like a misaligned unicolor overprint which is about $200.00 to start but if the error is new and graded as unique or exceptional then expect ten times as much.

At first I was very sure it was put there after the printing but on a closer look I noticed all the thin lines that crossed the stamp are over it. I don't know what to say. Tomorrow I'll try to stamp a $1 bill with a similar color stamp and see how it looks. What is your opinion on this? I took a picture but it isn't very clear.

ReplyDeleteGreat picture, this is a security stamp from a foreign country. When U.S. money goes overseas the currency exchanger put stamps on them to make sure they are not fake. The stamps are special for each bank and does not bring any extra value, just the opposite it devalues the bill for collectors.
Personally I found bills with 7 or more stamps usually from Asia and South America were fake money flows by the billions.

ReplyDeleteAt a casino in Las Vegas yesterday, I was given an unusual $1 bill. It is dated 2006, and is stamped with an "L." I would say it's in fair condition- no rips, but there is a crease down the middle and a black mark on the back. It wouldn't work in the machine, and the casino employees did two tests on it and they deemed it real. Normally, the black stamp is on the left, and the green stamp is on the right of the front of the bill. This bill has an upside down and slightly sideways "L" on the right side of the bill, to the right of the green stamp, touching it. The serial number is H80995538A. Thanks for your time!
Also, the left side has a very very slight ink print of where the "L" stamp would have been, almost unnoticeable because it's so light.

This sound odd if not impossible, I think it may be a fake but this has to be seen in person by an expert. If there is a trusted dealer in your neighborhood try that. If not get good pictures and show it in forums to get multiple opinions.

ReplyDeleteThis one sounds like a fake. Maybe an Ink Transfer error at best but it would have to be judged in person.
These are being faked quite often using simple heat and steam. If you feel it's real find several coin shop and just ask. If your good with pictures take one and post it online for others to rate.
so if i send the 2003 dollar in to a grader then will that be a good way to be sure if it real or fake, because at work it passed a marker test, and a bill scanner test

Is it a real error is what's wrong?
Most grading companies can tell but for a fee of $30 or more and if faked you may lose out.
Before that get a picture or scan and email dealers online who sell error notes or post in coin/currency forum.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a very-fine grade it would not change the value much. Most places would not buy this if not professionally graded but it may cost more to grade then the bill is worth.
The easiest way if not graded is to get good pictures and post on eBay. Unless you have trusted dealer in your area that knows error notes. A local coin/currency club may be willing to help.

I have a 1985 ten dollar bill that looks like a wet bill was placed on top of it, as the back of another bill is printed on the front. What is that called overprinting? And an estimated value. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteThis called an Offset Printing error most likely an Ink Transfer Error.
About $25.00 in fine.
I have a 2001 $1 bill missing the Treasury Seal otherwise in perfect condition. I also have a $1 1995 bill where the back of the bill is reversed on the front but everything is very clear also in crisp condition. Could you tell me me if they are worth anything more than $1 each?

As far as I see this is not an error but some sort of damage.
If the paper feels different it could be a Defective Stock error, but it looks normal.
I see something odd on the front, like a Gutter Fold error through the word NOTE.
It may be an Inking Error involving solvent these are usually blurry. It is odd and these type of errors start at $100 and go higher fast.
But they are also easily faked, I would suggest finding a currency expert(or 2) in your area and ask for an opinion. It's too risky to pay for grading.
Sorry I could not help more but this one has to be examined in person. Your WEIRD description is perfect.
