Have a 2013 nickel and want to know its value?
I said the nickel gods have been blessing me lately with a bunch of new nickels and this is another. Although it looks like Jefferson fought his way into circulation I assure you this is a great change find.
The bag marks on Jefferson's nose and chin concern me less than the fingerprint on the back. Fingerprints are worse than contact marks since the human oils will continue to eat through the coin for years. That is permanent damage that cannot be undone.
Half a year into 2013 and I have at least one of every type of U.S. circulating coin. While my cash transactions are less and less the modern finds are coming in faster. Now all that is left is to find the Denver version of each which may take years.
Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 5 Cents / United States of America
Year: 2013-P
Mintage: 378,240,000 (estimated to date)
Metal: 75% copper 25% nickel
Value: $0.05 in Very Fine (VF-20)
Do you have a U.S. nickel
and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my
best to find out the price and history for you.
I have a few questions: first (I am a kid and I AM OBSESSED WITH COINS!) do you think kids are getting in to coin collecting these days because at my school no one (apart from me) is into it. Second: I recently got a bunch or great Australian coins (I'm Australian as well) and they are quite interesting. Thy are as follows:
ReplyDelete1 1966 Australian one cent coin UNC
1 1966 Australian one cent coin EF
1 1964 Australian Penny UNC with AWESOME rainbow patina
1 1933 Australian Penny in F-VF
1 1923 Australian Penny in a strong VF
1 1912 Australian Penny in almost VF
1 1935 Australian Halfpenny in EF
1 1928 Australian Halfpenny in AU
1 1920 Australian Halfpenny in F
(Not Australian its British->) 1 1827 Farthing in VF. I got all these coins for the price of two dollars from an Australian coin shop(Downies)and was wondering if I got a good deal.
I also got a 1990 10 Dollar Silver Proof coin in the Australian Bird series that weighs 20 grams, comes with certificate of authenticity and was the 15019/50000 made so it was in the first 30% made according to my maths.
I'm really passionate about coin collecting and I love checking you blog every day before I goto school!

ReplyDelete--Not really with all the debit cards and expensive things. Back when I was a kid candy was a penny or a nickel so people always gave you coins for candy.

1990 10 Dollar Silver Proof coin in the Australian Bird series that weighs 20 grams, comes with certificate of authenticity
--About $45.00
Thanks for the kind words.
Grading is important and with that 1928 half penny if it is EF then it's about $25.00 but if it is UNC it is $650.00 so the grades in between have to be checked by an expert in hand. Still great coin.
hmmm yea the 1928 halfpenny is in great condition but it has 4 small scratches between 2and the 8 (looks a little like this -> 2/8) and the other three are smaller and on and next to the last A of australia<- this probably means it is ef or at least a good very fine because the portrait has ALL details showing, even the tiny pearls on GEORGIVS' crown and his robes-suit thingy are in impecable condition. I will have to have it graded one day!

ReplyDeleteStill a mid-grade coin, as the years pass it will definitely go up in value.
