Have a Nicaragua coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment
Yet another one and only coin from my vault. I always expect to have more Central and South American coins than I actually do. Again it is the proximity and the constant media about these countries that leads me to think I must have a ton of their coins.
On the obverse has REPUBLICA DE NICARAGUA ☆☆ 1972 ☆☆ around Francisco Hernández de Córdoba the guy they named their money after.
Edge has normal reeding.
The reverse EN DIOS CONFIAMOS ・ 25 CENTAVOS DE CORDOBA ・ which means IN GOD WE TRUST ・ 25 CENTS OF CORDOBA ・. The design remained for a long time until they started making larger value coins and eventually demonetized these coins. (Now this time I am 99.99% certain these are no longer legal tender.)
Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 25 Cents / Nicaragua
Year: 1972
Mintage: 4,000,000
Metal: Copper-Nickel
Value: $0.10 in Very-Fine
