1950 Malaya 10 Cents

Have a Malaya coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment

The short lived issues of Malaya lasted from 1939-1950. There was one that was made in such large numbers it is very common even today. Guess what it is the only one I own. Yup the 1950 ten cents from Malaya is the most common and has the least value.

The reverse says COMMISSIONERS OF CURRENCY MALAYA 1950 encircling 10 CENTS with the 10 having the security lines in them. KING GEORGE THE SIXTH is on the obverse and he is looking thin.

There is always some confusion with Malay Peninsula, Malaya, Malaya & British Borneo, and Malaysia coins and currency. They are all listed as different countries and had different rulers but they occupied the same region. Technically there were no Malaysian coins from the 1940s but I understand that it can be considered the same country.

Here's the stats...
Type/Country: 10 Cents / Malaya
Year: 1950
Mintage: 65,000,000
Metal: Copper-Nickel
Value: $0.15 in Fine

Do you have a Malaya coin and want to know its value? Leave a comment/question and I will do my best to find out the price and history for you.

  3. How much would an 1852 American 3 cent piece be worth in AG-3. The date is only visible under a 5x loupe. It looks dateless by the naked eye.
