Coins from Arabic countries often are more difficult to classify since they often do not have English writing or symbols and images that would instantly remind you of that country. Luckily the UAE coins have the country of origin written in English.

ReplyDeleteThe "y" is a 6 in Arabic so it is a 2006 1 Dirham which is about $0.35.
Thanks for this info! I just found a coin exactly like this except the dates are a bit different. It looks like 199^ - 1E19. Pretty neat.

I found this exact coin (same date) mixed in with my change in my wallet. I was fishing through the change to get quarters to put in the soft drink machine at work when I discovered it. Just curious as to what the meaning is of the second number (1425).
