I wish. Apparently someone who went there on vacation came back and used a penny from that country in our change.
It is my first Barbados find in years. I usually find Bermuda or Trinidad & Tobago coins although in the distant past I found a few Barbados coins.
This coin is interesting because it was the last bronze 1 Cent coins issued for Barbados starting in 1992 the switched to copper-plated zinc. The obverse(front) has a the Neptune symbolic trident over the value. The reverse has the Barbados National Arms that divide the date.
Here are the stats for this Barbados Cent...
Type/Country: 1 Cent/Barbados
Year: 1991
Mintages: Not known.
Metal: Bronze
Value: $0.10 in XF(Extra Fine although this one look less.)

ReplyDeleteThis is a "missing the black portion of the overprint" error. It is worth about $25.00.

Hi I have two Barbados 1 Cent Coins
ReplyDelete1973 (Bronze) Fine Condition, reverse seems to be stuck lower giving the Coin two raised edges at the top (Normal edge and an extra edge on that one).
1980 (Bronze) Fine Condition, reverse seems to be stuck higher giving the Coin two raised edges at the bottom, not so much as the other Coin (Normal edge and an extra edge on that one).
Any idea of Value? plus do you know what Mint produced these coins?
Thank You for your Help

About $0.05

About $0.05
The slight doubling of the rim does not bring any extra value and may lower whatever value it already has, it is a minor misalignment error.
they were both made at the Royal Mint in Canada.

ReplyDeleteNot gold but brass.
They did not make any gold nickels plus the weight for one is about 3.8 grams or 7.6 for two.
It's about $0.10.
