My most recent find was this 1 dollar Jamaican coin. It is dime sized and was given to me as such after a purchase. This is 1996 Jamaican dollar, the fourth I found in change.
This example is among the worst I got. Usually the are so bright and unscratched that they would grade BU(Brilliant Uncirculated). This example is low grade maybe Fine.
Here's the stats for this coin....
Year: 1996
Mintage: Not yet listed.
Metal: Nickel-Clad Steel
Value: Unc $1.00
This is my 27th Jamaican coin I found in my change. Most of these coins were found in recent years, there has been a surge in Caribbean coins in NYC and a big downturn of Canadian.
The oldest Jamaican coin I found was a 1975 10¢ coin.
The most valuable Jamaican coin I found was a $20.00 coin from 2000 it's valued at $3.00 in uncirculated condition.
The Jamaican coin I most frequently find are the dollar coins, I found 17 of them all returned as dimes, despite the 7-sided shape.

Currency notes not coins, confusion was when you claimed a "$2.00 dollar" what you meant was a $2.00 bill or note.
ReplyDelete1 $2.00 Jamaica Dollar dated 1960 about $1.00
1 $0.50 Jamaica Dollar dated 1960 about $0.50
Second thing although dated 1960 they are actually 1970 notes. The 1960 is the Law Date not printing date.
Assuming you meant note for this one also...
1 $1.00 Bahamas Dollar dated 1974 about $1.50
What is current value of 1974 JAMAICA PROOF SET WITH ALL 8 COINS IN SEALED PERFECT CONDITION?

ReplyDeleteNo such thing.
It has to be British 25 Pence coin.
If nickel about $2.50
If silver about $27.50
Both are silver color the box should say if nickel or silver.
Must be a fake. Has been hanging around for years. On one side has picture of Queen, and ELIZABETH II, 1981, JAMAICA around edge. Other side has Charles and Diana facing right, a small shield of some sort above them, and 25 DOLLARS, ROYAL WEDDING around edge. Perhaps it's a one off and worth millions! Ha, ha! Thanks for your help anyway. Kind Regards.

ReplyDeleteYou left out one detail JAMAICA.
I assumed it was from Great Britain.
Ok then this is real, it is about $140.00.
Understand dozens of countries issued these coins but I always assume British unless told otherwise, my mistake.
Sorry I was not very explicit the first time. Thanks again for your help. King Regards
ReplyDeleteI've got a coin, says Jamaica at the top - center has a crest with two figures on other side, words reading: "out of many, one people". The year on the coin is 1969. On the back it says 'twenty cents', there are three trees with leaves below them and then the number 20.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all info.

About $0.2462 or just $0.25 in exchange rate.

ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this private issue bullion.
Since 2001 many of these local gold bullion have been made. They have no collectors value.
The value is whatever its weight in current gold value. Currently it's $1744.50 per oz and this bullion coin should be weighed to verify.

I found a $1 bill with the "Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Illinois" stamp printed upside down. The stamp is lighter in color than the rest of the printing on the bill. It is a 2003A series bill with a serial number of G13143198D. The number printed on the back of the bill is 36. Is this bill conterfeit or could it be worth something?

ReplyDeleteI suspect an attempt at making a fake error. Were it a real error the Fed Stamp would be on the other side, right side instead of left.
Real note, fake error with no extra value.
