The whole bill is significantly off-center. The margin on one side is 1mm, while the other side is 6mm.

Large $1 bill, Series 1923
SN: E55816625D
The seal is blue
The number on the back is 3556.
The condition isn't very good, it has creases running both horizontally and vertically. The top edge is pretty rough as well.

$1 bill, Series 1957
SN: V58884196A
This has a blue seal as well, and the number on the back is 281. It's in what I would call circulated condition.

$2 bill, Series 1953A
SN: A60314464A
This one has a red seal, and the number on the back is 409.
Its top right corner is torn off, down to the top right edge of the 2. It has a couple of creases, and is slightly off center.

3 $2 bills Series 1976
SNs:
A07600885A
A07600887A
A07600889A
All are extra crisp uncirculated. These have postage stamps on the back displaying state flags and all are stamped Springfield, MA, Apr 13, P.M., 1976.

And finally 3 more $2 bills, Series 1976
SNs:
A09692037A
A09692038A
A09692039A
These are also crisp uncirculated, with postage stamps, but the stamps are on the front of the bills. The postage stamps are the same style state flag stamps. The stamp placed over these bills reads Cheshire, CT 06410, 1976, Apr 13, P.M.

Do you know why they were stamped (assumably) by the postal service? Do you think this would increase or decrease the value?

Thanks for all your time, it is greatly appreciated :)

MikeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14411073.post-23821428296519535772007-12-22T02:02:00.000-05:002007-12-22T02:02:00.000-05:001950B $20 billThe 1950 is the year the billed was ...1950B $20 bill
The 1950 is the year the billed was designed and the B indicates it had a minor design change from the last bill. In this case Robert B. Anderson's signature was added. This bill was actually made in 1957.

The number in the four corners of the face is 6
This is the district number which matches the district of Atlanta and the district letter F.

the serial number being F6614364A
It is to identify how many bills are printed. The begin F matches the district. The book list F66960001A as the lowest possible for a 1950B the number you typed is wrong. You typed 7 digits it should be 8.

Generally good condition, 1 crease down center.
One fold and crisp feel means it is at least extra-fine.

How do you tell what bank it came from, etc?
They were all made at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, DC then issued to on of 12 Federal Reserve banks indicated by the district seal on older bills. It should have an F with the Bank of Atlanta encircled.

The little letter in the upper left and lower right is K.
This is plate position. Back then bills were printed in either 12 or 18 notes per sheet. That little letter indicated where that note was among the 12 or 18.
